Children's Rosary held at Blessed Sacrament Day VI
St. Benedictine Monastery of Thien Tam in Texas
This past year was full of blessings for the Children's Rosary.  As many may just be discovering the Children's Rosary we would like to share some of the journey this past year. We have seen new Children's Rosary groups forming in different parts of the United States and also other countries such as Angola, Ecuador, Pakistan, the Philippines and Zimbabwe.

Our trip to the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia USA in September was a wonderful highlight.   We were able to pray in a special way for all the members of the Children's Rosary during Our Holy Father's visit.  Eight children were able to travel to Philadelphia and share news of this prayer group movement with many pilgrims at our Children's Rosary booth.  We continue to pray that the seeds sown there will grow and bring bountiful fruit.
Children's Rosary held at the Shrine of Divine
Mercy on Grandparent's Day 2015

We also had our Official release of our song video: "Rosary Children" and later in the year the Release of our Children's Rosary DVD!  In July EWTN announced that they would begin airing the Children's Rosary as part of their monthly programming.  This has been a tremendous blessing as many have been able to see a glimpse into a Children's Rosary prayer group.

The Children's Rosary also participated in several new events this year which we hope will become annual traditions. The Children's Rosary was invited this past year to participate in the Global Rosary Relay for Priests on  the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  Many children unified prayers with Shrines across the globe praying for our priests.  Pope Francis also conveyed an Apostolic blessing to all who participated in the event.

The Children's Rosary was also invited to join the Catholic Grandparents Association at the National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA for Grandparents Day.  The children kneeling before the altar led all present in a Children's Rosary.
In June, the Vietnamese community welcomed the Children's Rosary to Blessed Sacrament Day at the Benedictine Monastery of Thien Tam in Kerens, Texas.

In August we received good news from the IRS that the Children's Rosary had received tax exempt status.   Thank you all who have made donations!

One of the most precious gifts this year were all the groups who celebrated their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year anniversaries.  With many new groups forming, it is easy to focus on the "new" groups but one must never forget the faithfulness in prayer that so many children and group leaders carry in their hearts.  The world may question why such sacrifices are needed.  When obstacles present themselves and hard times come there are a thousand reasons to give up.  Yet despite all this, groups continue to meet.  This faithfulness creates the grace that allows this prayer group movement to continue to spread... to reach deeper and further.  It is for this reason that postings continue.  For it is in sharing the blessings that are coming that we see the fruits of so much sacrifice.  These graces we are not owed, yet Our Lord in His goodness showers them down upon us.  We must not hide our light but share it and so the posts continue.

The list below of posts are my favorites. In some cases they represent events, or blessings and others struggles we have passed through.  I humbly thank you all for joining us on this journey. Thank you for your prayers, Masses offered, sacrifices made with the goal of bringing our little ones to prayer and in doing so help to strengthen not only the faith of our children but also our families and parishes.

Global Rosary Relay 2016

Please save the date!  The Children's Rosary has once again been invited to participate in the annual Global Rosary Relay for Priests.  This is something we are very excited about and hope many children will want to join in!  The Global Rosary Relay for priests will be held on June 3rd 2016 which is the World Day of Prayer for Priests and the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  Beginning in Siberia every 15 or 30 minutes a Rosary is led at a different Shrine for the sanctification of priests.  Over 100 Shrines will be participating from over 50 countries.  Pope Francis has even conveyed an Apostolic Blessing to all who participate.

Members of the Children's Rosary are encouraged to unify prayers with a Shrine of their choosing and pray a Rosary for the sanctification of priests on June 3rd.  Children's Rosary groups already meeting on June 3rd may choose to unify as a group with a Shrine.  Groups  that would not normally meet on June 3rd, could arrange to hold an extra meeting on that day to help add to the prayer power of the day for priests.

Last year members of the Children's Rosary participated and some groups even sent in pictures from their meetings.  We are very grateful to Marion Mulhull, founder of Worldpriest, for inviting the members of the Children's Rosary to participate.  An updated schedule of Shrines participating has just been added to the Worldpriest website.  A pdf flyer as seen above, is available on the Worldpriest website in English, French, German and Spanish.

Mass Will Be Offered Tomorrow for Members of the Children's Rosary

Tomorrow a Mass will be offered by the Capuchin Friars for all the members of the Children's Rosary.  We continue to have a Mass said for the this intention on the 25th of each month. The Eucharist is such a powerful gift from Our Lord that when I wanted to extend thanksgiving to all of you I knew of no better way to express my gratitude.  May Our Lord's love be poured down on all of you through the powerful sacrifice of the Holy Mass.

We would like to share some of the treasures of the Children's Rosary.  These are of course the children.  The pictures included are some of the beautiful children who are part of the Children's Rosary at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Tacloban City, Philippines.  Some of the children are homeless.  The group leader shared that a little 11 year old girl named Emma, who is homeless, helped to encourage more of the children from the streets or those living in shacks to come to the Children's Rosary yesterday.  Our group leader spoke of the joy that came from the children as they prayed.

Opening of the International Eucharistic Congress 2016

The opening Mass of the International Eucharistic Congress in the Philippines will begin in five hours at 4PM local time.  Several of the members of the Children's Rosary are able to attend.  In a special way they will be praying for the Children's Rosary and all the members at the Mass today.  We are very grateful to them.

We ask for all of your prayers for Neil and his son, Neil Lorenzo.  They carry with them many Children's Rosary materials and rosaries which they have already begun to share. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will protect and guide them during this historic meeting in the Philippines and they will meet many people with an open heart to help spread the Children's Rosary.

For those who would like to watch the Mass it can be viewed streaming HERE.

"Confession is the Soul's Bath"

"Confession is the soul's bath. Even a clean and unoccupied room gathers dust; return after a week and you will see that it needs dusting again!" St. Pio of Pietrelcina
This photo was taken just before we began one of Our Children's Rosary meetings.  The picture was taken by a child of a child in Confession.  There is something very special about this picture. Maybe it is the light streaming in through the stained glass window upon the child that so beautifully represents the cleansing of the soul.  There is also something wonderful in the way the light hits the screen completely obscuring the identity of the priest. In this way, one can envision Our Lord listening with a bent ear to each detail.

In the Catechism of the Catholic Church, we are told that when the priest "celebrates the sacrament of Penance, the priest is fulfilling the ministry of the Good Shepherd who seeks the lost sheep, of the Good Samaritan who binds up wounds, of the Father who awaits the prodigal son and welcomes him on his return, and of the just and impartial judge whose judgement is both just and merciful.  The priest is the sign and the instrument of God's merciful love for the sinner." (Catechism #1466)

In this Year of Mercy, there is a renewed call to come to the Sacrament of Mercy, and to come often. St. Padre Pio so beautiful illustrates how a soul, like our homes, needs frequent cleaning.

Rebuilding Our Church

Children's Rosary at Noor Pur Church in Pakistan
This week we received these pictures of our newest Children's Rosary group in Pakistan. This group has formed at the Church in Noor Pur Pakistan. They held their first meeting on December 20th 2015.

This new Children's Rosary group has formed in Noor Pur town which has approximately 90 families total.  Those in the town had heard about the Children's Rosary and asked our group leader in Pakistan to come and help begin a group in their town, too.

What has been extremely beautiful to see is that in the towns where new Children's Rosary groups are forming there has been physical cleaning and restoration of the Churches.  These Churches were often rarely used because priests were only able to visit one or two times a year.  However once a new Children's Rosary group formed there was regular meetings for prayer in the Churches so new attention was turned to cleaning and improving the Church structures.  In many cases the children are helping sweep and clean.  Sometimes they are even painting.

Several of the Churches have even had new crucifixes made where there were none.  Indeed the physical rebuilding of the Churches has mirrored the renewal of prayer led by the children.  Often the children hold their Children's Rosary in the Church but then go out and pray with the poor and sick families in the towns in Pakistan.  They are welcomed and often their visits initiate a return to prayer of the Rosary daily within these families.  The Children's Rosary group then checks back on the families and those that they have prayed with only to find they have continued their prayers and have found great comfort.

Indeed whole towns are being transformed through the prayer and humility of these children and their enthusiasm.  This is all happening peacefully within Pakistan.  This latest Children's Rosary group brings our total to 8 groups within Pakistan.  They join our Children's Rosary groups in at least 13 countries.  Indeed these are hopeful times. The children in their innocence are showing the way with rosaries in hand.

New Children's Rosary Group in Pakistan

We are excited to share our first pictures of the new Children's Rosary group in Kolti Rait Wali, Pakistan.  They held their first Children's Rosary meeting on October 20th 2015.  At the first meeting of the Children's Rosary each group is Consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary.  In this way the group is under the protection and guidance of Christ and His Mother.

At some of the Children's Rosary group meetings in Pakistan the children share a little snack at the end of their prayers.

We have been so blessed to see the Children's Rosary grow in Pakistan.  We now have 7 Children's Rosary groups with more forming all the time.  Some of the Children's Rosary groups in Pakistan, such as the group at St. Joseph Church in Ashraf Town, meet daily while others meet weekly or monthly.

A special thank you to all those who have made rosaries and donated them to the Children's Rosary and those who have made financial donations.  We have continued to send packages of rosaries to Pakistan to help meet the growing need as more and more Children's Rosary groups form. The children also often go out to pray with the poor and if a family does not have a Rosary many of the children offer their own Rosary.  The children are quick to give all that they have and so we like to help replenish supplies as often as we can.

Children's Rosary at Epiphany Church in Cliffside Park, New Jersey USA

This week we received a wonderful note from one of the members of the Children's Rosary.  Her children attend the Children's Rosary at Epiphany Church in Cliffside Park New Jersey.  She gave permission for us to share the picture and her note.

"We had a great group yesterday. I do not know if I told you yet, but on December 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, some of our parishioners Consecrated themselves to Our Lady using the 33 Days to Morning Glory as a group with our priest guiding them.  This is the first time since I have been there (12 years) that this has been done together as a parish, my husband and I believe that is the fruits of the Children's Rosary.  It was beautiful!"

We are grateful to those who write and share the blessings they are seeing through the Children's Rosary.  These meetings of the children to pray strengthen the faith of these little ones but they also bring wonderful graces into families and parishes.  Recently in the Diocesan newspaper in Bridgeport Connecticut, Fr. Cutler Pastor of St. Marguerite Parish, was quoted as saying, "The Children's Rosary group, is a wonderful avenue of grace not only to the children themselves, but also to the parish as a whole!"

St Marguerite Pray For Us!

Children's Rosary at St. Marguerite Parish
Yesterday we received a note from Holy Spirit Radio that they would be adding an additional airing of the Children's Rosary today in honor of the Feast of St. Marguerite.

St. Marguerite had a love of children and was committed to helping educate them. She had a special love of the poor.

It was on the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, October 7th, while looking at a Statue of Our Our Blessed Mother that she felt moved to pursue a vocation to religious life.  She would later found a religious order  called the the Congregation de Notre-Dame.  Sr. Marguerite Bourgeoys died in Montreal on January 12th 1700 AD.  Her Feast day is January 12th.  She was canonized by St. Pope John Paul II on October 31st 1982.

"Our Lady's love is like a stream that has its source in the Eternal Fountains, quenches the thirst of all, call never be drained, and ever flows back to its Source." (St. Marguerite Bourgeoys)

The Children's Rosary has a group at St. Marguerite Parish in Brookfield, Connecticut USA.  Interestingly a mother and young daughter run this group.  The daughter helped with the recording of the sung Ave Ave Ave Maria which is heard between decades in our recorded Children's Rosary. She also helped in recording our theme song Rosary Children.

It seemed a very special gift to this Children's Rosary group at St. Marguerite Parish to receive word that the Children's Rosary would receive an extra airing in special honor of the Feast of St. Marguerite. This child who has helped to run this Children's Rosary for the past 2 years would have her voice covering the city of Philadelphia and other regions of Pennsylvania honoring Our Lady with the simple phrase Ave Ave Ave Maria. This little family has had to bear a great deal of physical suffering over the past several years due to illness so this gift from Our Lord seems extra sweet.

For those who would like to pray along with the children, the airing will occur during the 3PM EST hour directly after the Divine Mercy Chaplet. One can listen LIVE streaming HERE. Holy Spirit Radio will also have their normal monthly airing the Children's Rosary on January 13th during the 3PM hour.

Thank You Grandparents

Children's Rosary at St. Thomas the Apostle Church
West Hartford, CT USA 1/10/2016
This weekend brought a close to the Christmas season but it was not without some final gifts from Our Lord.  These gifts were unexpected and brought with them great joy and consolation.  The gifts began on Saturday when we met a lovely mother and her two children after daily Mass.  Her little ones were gathered around the manger looking at Jesus.  At first I thought they were children who had come to our Children's Rosary but upon getting closer I found they were a new family to me.  Quickly I introduced myself and humbly invited her two little ones to our Children's Rosary.  Initially I was thinking about our meeting for the following day at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish but I also mentioned the meeting we would be having later that day at St. Peter Claver Church in West Hartford.  To my happy surprise they were free and wanted to join us later that day for the Children's Rosary.

At 3PM my three children and I were at St. Peter Claver Church, it seemed that settling the kids down to quiet prayer was almost mission impossible.  As we gathered in this wonderful space the Church has for praying before the tabernacle, still there seemed some rough housing amongst my kids.  Trying to regain some semblance of order we began the Rosary.  A few minutes later our new friends arrived whom we had met that morning.  The children quickly took their places kneeling with my children.  Nathan was just 6 years old and his sister was around 3 years old. Their mother also knelt on the ground.  With the new children present we started the Rosary over again.  At first little Nathan seemed shy to lead but when he was invited to lead with my daughter who was older he seemed to find the courage and took his place with Alina in front of us to lead the decade.  We quickly could see that Nathan knew his prayers very well.  Next it would be his sister's turn and we suggested they lead together.  The two were so precious together.  Their soft voices encircling our hearts and bringing smiles to our faces.  I looked over at my daughter who had been in the middle of the disruption earlier now had a big smile on her face.  Her own voice became more tender as well in the responses.  Everyone it seemed was smiling.  Something interesting also happened, little Nathan was so much enjoying leading that with each decade he asked if he could help lead.  To see this little soul so excited to lift his prayers up to God was so beautiful I am still relishing it.  As we left, I asked the mom if the children pray the Rosary each day.  She said yes!  Her parents pray the Rosary with them each night as she works evenings.  They were not there to see the children leading us in prayer so beautifully but their efforts had yielded beautiful fruits.

Our next gift was that this little family who brought such joy to our Children's Rosary Saturday was able to join us on Sunday, too.  They were joined by 8 other children.  Three of the children spoke Polish as a second language.  One of the little girls was new to the group and had wooden rosaries in her hands. I told her I liked them very much and she said her grandmother had lent them to her as she lost hers.  One of the little girls also shared with the group that her mother was expecting a baby.  We all marveled to think of this little baby at his or her first Children's Rosary.  We loved to imagine this little one being covered in the prayers of the other children.  Never too early to start attending 8-)

Sometimes it is hard to see the fruits of our efforts to bring children to prayer but this weekend Our Lord was opening a window so we could see the many graces flowing.

Please know the children prayed for all the members of the Children's Rosary and all who were unifying prayers with us.

In a special way may I thank Our Lord for His generosity of grace and gifts.  In addition I would like to thank grandparents for their help.  They hold an important role to help pass on the faith.  We have seen this in our own family and it was very clear this weekend as well.

Thank you to all the grandparents who run Children's Rosary prayer groups and also those that bring their children to meetings.

Lion and the Lamb

Today the Christmas decorations came down, this being the last day of Christmas.  Our youngest son took the ornaments off the tree and laid them out for his older sister to carefully pack away.  It was at this time that, Baby, our cat decided to lay down on the ornaments.  Looking over at Baby snuggled up with the dove it seemed an unlikely scene.  For Baby is a master hunter.  His mother's name was actually Hunter, and Baby has continued in this tradition.  The first thought that came to mind seeing Baby and the dove was the beautiful Christmas image of the lion and the lamb.  As it would turn out the ornament tossed next to Baby was a glass version of the lion and the lamb with the tag still hanging from the lion with the phrase" lion and the lamb".  So it seemed indeed that this connection was divinely ordained.  The kids took great pleasure at watching Baby resting with his unlikely friend.  All the pictures shown here were taken by a child (and member of the Children's Rosary!)

Children's Rosary at Holy Trinity Church in Nairobi Kenya
Tomorrow we celebrate the Baptism of Our Lord and the last day of Christmas.  We will have to wait a whole year to pray again during the Christmas season.  Let us make good use of this time of grace.  May we ask the baby Jesus to give us His peace and bless our families.

Consecration Journey

May I humbly thank all of you who joined us for a 33 Day Consecration journey that concluded on January 1st.  This is our third year joining together on this Consecration journey.  Following in the footsteps of such spiritual giants as St. Louis de Montfort, St. Maximillian Kolbe, Blessed Mother Teresa, and St. John Paul II we began a jouney of contemplation and prayer which ended on the Feast of Mary Mother of God on January 1st. Although the 33 Day Consecration can be done leading up to any Marian Feast, members of the Children's Rosary were invited to join together in this spiritual journey leading up to the January 1st Feast. In so many ways it seemed a perfect way to usher in the New Year.

For those of you unfarmiliar with Consecration to Jesus through Mary it has been blessed and supported by Pope Benedict XVI. St. John Paul II urged Catholics to make this Act of Entrustment, which involves ten minutes of private prayer daily, for 33 days,  in your home.  Many may be farmiliar with Totus Tuus which was John Paul's papal motto.  It is a Latin phraase meaning "totally yours" and expressed his personal Consecration to Jesus through Mary.

The Consecration preparation material we have been using is the 33 Days to Morning Glory book by Fr. Michael Gaitley MIC.  Although we encourage members to use what ever materials they feel most comfortable using.

One of the reflections from Fr. Gailtey's book that was a highlight in my journey was a story from the life of St. Louis de Montfort.  As a gift to Our Lord, St. Loius, with the help of thousands of peasants, built a monument to the Passion of Christ.  The construction took 15 months.  When it was complete and one day before the dedication members of the government destroyed it believing their was some purpose for it that threatened the government.  Thus the blessing ceremony was not at all what St. Louis had hoped for yet he used the set back to praise Our Lord saying, "We had hoped to build a Calvary here. Let us build it in our hearts.  Blessed be God."

There is something wonderful about this story as it shows us that had the Monument remained few might marvel as we do now hundreds of years later.  Yet to see a soul meet such adversity and still praise Our Lord stands the test of time and still has the ability to move our hearts.  It would seem that Our Lord has great wisdom in asking for such precious gifts of sacrifice.  At the time we may feel defeated but rather it is just the opposite.

Many of us find we come against road blocks even with starting or continuing a Children's Rosary prayer group.  Yet these struggles and trials may be great blessings for each of us and our path to holiness.  We also win great graces for our families and all those who are part of the Children's Rosary.  May I humbly thank all those that give so much from the heart in all they do to help spread the Children's Rosary.

Thank you also for joing us on this Consecration journey.  If you did not have a chance to pray along with us this year we will again do our re-Consecation next year beginning November 29th 2016.  One can also do the preparation leading up to any Marian Feast.  Some individuals may want to begin the Consecraiton January 9th and conclude on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Today is Christmas in Russia

Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate Christmas today.  I am aware that many individuals in such countries as Russia, Greece, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Ethiopia and the Ukraine celebrate Christmas today.

In the Christian Orthodox tradition they use the Gregorian calendar with Christmas celebrated on January 7th.  While Catholics use the Julian Calendar celebrating Christmas December 25th.
