13 Schools in Uganda Will Begin School-wide Children's Rosary Groups Next Week

We are excited to share that 13 schools in the Luweero District of Uganda will be starting school-wide Children's Rosary groups next week. We are grateful to Fr. Tadeo Ssemanda who presented the Children's Rosary to the Head Teacher of each school this week in a meeting(see picture above). Praise Jesus they all welcomed the idea and will be implementing the Children's Rosary in their respective schools next week.

Each school will hold a weekly Children's Rosary during the school day. The children will each meet in their respective classrooms. Rosaries and Children's Rosary prayer books that we sent to Uganda were given to the Head Teachers for the implementation of the Children's Rosary in their schools. In the picture below, the Head Teachers receive rosaries in Fr. Tadeo's office for their new groups. Over 3,000 children from the 13 schools will now be participating in the Children's Rosary prayer group movement. We welcome these children. One of the 13 schools, St. Bonaventure School, had a Children's Rosary group that met after school with some of the children from the school. Next week they will join the other 12 schools in having a Children's Rosary during the school day which will involve all the children in the school. We plan to send additional boxes of rosaries and books for the children in the coming few weeks. We are most grateful for donations which can help us cover the shipping expenses. We would like each child to have a rosary. Thank you for your support.

What Does a Rosary on a Patter Do?

What does a rosary on a platter do? Nothing by itself. But put that rosary in the hand of a child and help them to use it? Now that can change the trajectory of that soul in life. Experiences children have when they are young shape them.

In the photo above, we see a member of the Children's Rosary in Pakistan. She is not part of a new Children's Rosary group, she participates in an existing one that is growing in numbers...so many in fact that they were without rosaries for all of the children. We send boxes of rosaries to new and existing groups throughout the world and the rosaries go fast.

Is there a need in the world to support the prayer lives of children? Absolutely!! They need us. Our Lord needs us to bring Him the children in prayer. He does all the work in the soul but He needs a dialogue to be opened in prayer within their hearts. The Rosary is a simple way He can begin to establish a friendship in the hearts of children that will last a lifetime and beyond.

Is it as simple as putting a rosary on a platter? Yes, it can be that simple if the rosaries are being given in the context of a Children's Rosary prayer group where the children use the rosaries in prayer.

Thank you to all those that help the Children's Rosary.

Mass Offered on February 25th 2019 for Members of the Children's Rosary

A Mass was offered today for all the members of the Children's Rosary and all who help the Children's Rosary.  We continue to have a Mass said for the this intention on the 25th of each month. The Eucharist is such a powerful gift from Our Lord that when I wanted to extend thanksgiving to all of you I knew of no better way to express my gratitude.  May Our Lord's love be poured down on all of you through the powerful sacrifice of the Holy Mass.

The photo above is from our new Children's Rosary group at Thithi Primary School in Kenya. Br. Cleophus shared "I gave out two books. I am having many children but only lack of some materials." Today we spent time putting a large box together for the children in Kenya. We are grateful for the rosaries that have been donated to the Children's Rosary and those that make financial donations that allow us to continue to help these children to grow in friendship with Our Lord through prayer. There is an openness in the hearts of children to come to know God through prayer but they need our help. They need an introduction. They need encouragement.

A special thank you to all those who have said "Yes" to help this movement reach the most distant corners of the globe. If we each see our role to help the next generation we find great hope in the beauty that unfolds.

Procession in Honor of Our Lady of Lourdes

The Children's Rosary (Rosaire des Enfants) at Sacred Heart Parish in Seychelles shared these beautiful pictures. Members of the Children's Rosary group participated in their Parish procession in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes on February 10th. The group leader explained that in Seychelles each parish is given a Feast. Their parish was blessed to receive two: the Feast of the Sacred Heart and the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. For these Parish Feasts the Bishop usually presides at the Mass.
Bishop Denis Weihe and their Parish Priest Father Landry are shown in the photo above walking in the procession. Individuals from around the island came and participated in the procession. The members of the Children's Rosary can be seen holding baskets with rose petals which they showered over a statue of Our Lady during the procession. The children are wearing blue or white scarves that were made by the group leader.

The procession concluded with Benediction at the Parish Grotto where there is a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes.  We thank the Children's Rosary in Seychelles for sharing these pictures and the wonderful tradition on their Island which honors Our Lady of Lourdes. It is beautiful to see so many children participating.

The Children's Rosary group leader in Los Reyes Mexico shared her experiences with the Children's Rosary.

Hello: Since I was part of the Children's Rosary I consider myself fortunate, since I find peace and tranquility in my life and that of my family, because I feel that we are not alone, even if only one child would pray, I feel we are many, because We feel the strength of the prayer of all groups, thank you Children's Rosary for your prayers. The children of our group, are very nice and every week they wait with great enthusiasm when praying the Rosary and they like to sing "Ave, Ave, Ave Maria", we hope one day that this will spread in our City and be more children. May Love our Mother Mary. Blessings from Mexico.

Happy Feast of St. Jacinta and Francisco Marto

Today the Church remembers St. Jacinta and St. Francisco Marto who are two of the three children who received apparitions in Fatima.  Before the apparitions of Fatima, these two siblings spent their days as shepherds in Portugal.  Today as we celebrate their Feast day, it is beautiful to reflect on some of the messages given to these little children who were just 7 and 9 when Our Lady began appearing to them.  One might also contemplate Our Lady's choice of these simple children to share her urgent call to pray the Rosary!
When Our Lady first appeared to the children on May 13th 1917.  She asked them a question, "Are you willing to offer yourselves to God and bear all the sufferings He wills to send you, as an act of reparation for the sins by which He is offended, and of supplication for the conversion of sinners."

Such a request underscores both the importance of suffering and our invitation to participate and assist in God's Plan. We are always invited to use our free will to choose God and to assist Him in His plans. The children respond, "Yes we are willing".
Our Lady goes on to share one of the main messages of Fatima, "Pray the Rosary every day to obtain peace for the world, and the end of the war." This request to pray the Rosary for peace was the only request made in all six of the apparitions to the visionaries.

Our Lord Looks After All the Details

This past weekend we were preparing a package for Vietnam containing some Children's Rosary materials. One of the Children's Rosary group leaders in Vietnam asked us if we could include a rose from the last Children's Rosary we held at St. Thomas the Apostle in West Hartford, Connecticut USA. This is the home location for the Children's Rosary. As we had our Children's Rosary the prior weekend, I knew it would be some weeks before our next meeting. I was not sure if we should hold the package until the next meeting but I agreed to see what we could do to include a flower. On Sunday after Mass my daughter and I went down to the lower Church. There was a person praying in the lower Church and the lights we dim so we just took the last seat in the chapel and began to quietly pray the Rosary. At the end of the Rosary, we went to the the statue of Our Lady where we had left the roses from the prior week's Children's Rosary. As we expected the roses were wilted and dropping. But then my daughter and I realized there was just one in perfect condition. It seemed to be waiting there for us. We were thrilled as it meant we could press the rose and send it in the package without waiting 3 weeks.  We continue to see that when we trust God with all our concerns, He shows us that He is looking after every detail.

*We include the picture above of the rose in perfect condition that we brought home from the Church.

Remembering Nico Ossemann

Nico Ossemann passed away unexpectedly on February 5th 2019. He was 96 years old. Nico Ossemann has been a great friend to the Children's Rosary. He completed the first translation of our Children's Rosary book into French. Others helped in the proofing of the final translation but it was Nico Ossemann that performed the initial translation and is listed as one of two translators on our French version of the Children's Rosary book. His wife has also been committed to praying for the Children's Rosary. Their assistance has been tremendous.

Through the translation that Nico Ossemann helped in completing, French speaking children now have the opportunity to participate in the Children's Rosary. Our new Children's Rosary in Seychelles uses these books, our group in Haiti, and Belgium. By the grace of God many more children will use these materials and can join other children praying around the world. Indeed, he helped to open the door through language to a great many children to unify in prayer of the Rosary with other children around the world.

Guido Ossemann, shared at his father's funeral Mass: "he always asked why God gave him such a long life. I think I know why: to be a witness for the three theological virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity, the first three beads of the Rosary." Nico Ossemann carried the same rosary with him for 88 years.  His Maxim for his life which was included in his obituary: "A human being can't live on earth without having in his mind and in his heart a tiny part of Heaven".

We are most grateful for the prayers and assistance Nico Ossemann offered so generously to the Children's Rosary. His wife, who survives him, has prayed for the Children's Rosary for 5 years and we thank her as well.

I humbly ask those who are reading this to say three Hail Marys for the repose of the soul of Nico Ossemann and two more Hail Marys for his family. Thank you very much.

* The photo above is of Nico Ossemann and John Paul II. Later in his professional life, Nico Ossemann, was regularly at the Vatican and had the blessing of meeting with St. John Paul II on more then one occasion.

"Blessed Are They That Hope in the Lord"

The children above are from our Children's Rosary in Muhammad Pura Pakistan. This is an outpost of St. Francis Xavier Parish. The outpost in Muhammad Pura has no structure so the children have been meeting for over two years outside. The weather in Pakistan is warm most of the year but in the winter it is cold and this year they have even had significant snowfall.

We received word this past week that the children would like to build a Church in their town. They have even decided to name it after St. Anthony of Padua. They have begun to save for the building of the Church. People from the village have contributed. Today in Mass as the Responsorial Psalm was read, "Blessed are they that hope in the Lord," I thought of this Children's Rosary group. I thought of the hope these children have in their hearts. They pray and trust and through this Our Lord can do amazing things.

The first Children's Rosary group to build a Church in Pakistan was in Sago Bago. Last year, a second Children's Rosary group successfully built a Church located in Kotly Raet Wali, Pakistan. They named their Church after the Holy Spirit. Indeed, the children give a beautiful example of how Our Lord does bless those that hope in the Lord.

Children's Rosary Banner Available to Order

We are excited to share that the Children's Rosary banner is available to order. The banner measures 3 feet tall by 5 feet wide and has six grommets for hanging - four on the top and two on the bottom.

The banner can be used at meetings, during processions or at information tables such as at a Parish ministry fair. Banners ship in 1-2 weeks plus transit time. Order early if you would like one for a specific date.

*We do ask that if Children's Rosary groups would like a banner they order this official one. We would like to have continuity within the prayer group movement. If there is a difficulty in ordering a banner, such as those groups outside the US, please contact Blythe Kaufman (blythe@childrensrosary.org) to obtain permission for private printing.

The materials we have developed are to help Children's Rosary groups and allow them to function smoothly and have a clear identity in a school or parish. Having a banner is optional for a group but can be a wonderful addition. The same company producing the banner is also producing our Children's Rosary T-Shirts. Therefore, if you are putting in an order also consider adding our official shirts. This is great for the group leader and for the children, too! The larger the quantity of T-Shirts ordered the more the price per T-Shirt drops.  You can mix and match sizes both youth and adult and languages (English, Spanish or French) and still get the larger quantity discount.

Our Children's Rosary books, CDs, DVD and Cards are available to order through EWTN Religious Catalogue. View Collection HERE.

Children's Rosary at St. Malachy Parish in Tamarac, Florida

The Children's Rosary at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Tamarac, Florida USA recently sent us these pictures from their February 2nd monthly meeting. The group leader shared that the Pastor, Father O'Dwyer, has been a great supporter of the group. "He hasn't missed even one of our meetings." The Children's Rosary began at this Parish on May 5th 2018.
We are grateful to the Children's Rosary group leader for not only initiating a Children's Rosary at her parish in Florida but also for bringing Children's Rosary materials to a school in Haiti during a visit last year.

"It Just Warms My Heart so Much to Know We are Uniting Our Prayers"

Today we received a letter. It read:

I just wanted to tell you how happy it makes me to see the lights on the View from Heaven! It just warms my heart so much to know we are uniting our prayers. Please thank the children for me!
                  - Barbara
It is a joy to receive such letters. This has been our hope that the View from Heaven map on our Children's Rosary website would be a way for many souls to be connected in prayer. The map displays Children's Rosary groups actively praying as blue twinkling lights. There is an invitation to unify in prayer by clicking a button "Join in Prayer". This adds a gold twinkling light for thirty minutes to the map. We have some individuals who have decided to be "Core Lights". These are people that daily come to the site and hit join in prayer and add their light. In this way more and more the map has at least one light flashing...one soul praying. If there are others who would like to become a core light please email Blythe at blythe@childrensrosary.org  For those who would like to periodically visit the site and add your light we welcome you. Thank you for adding your light. It means a great deal to others who add their light and look for others. Some of the gold lights represent families with children. Seeing new and familiar lights is exciting.

We have made a video to provide the idea behind the View from Heaven. The video in English is provided here: A View from Heaven. We also have the video narrated in Spanish by a child.

Happy Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes!

Dear Friends,
Happy Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes! This is the 4th anniversary of the release of our Children's Rosary theme song: Rosary Children. We include the link to the song now with lyrics added to the video. Many Children's Rosary groups have chosen to sing this at the end of their meetings. We have the sheet music available to download as a pdf on our website.

The refrain has such a beautiful and simple message:
"We are Rosary Children with these beads we're building a world of peace and love."

We thank God for Our Blessed Mother and also for the many children who follow the example of St. Bernadette and pick up their rosaries and pray each day.

New Children's Rosary in Pakistan: February 1st 2019

A new Children's Rosary held their first meeting in Sahnky, Pakistan on Friday February 1st. They will be meeting each Friday at noon to hold their Children's Rosary.

The children were each able to receive a rosary. They lined up with big smiles each waiting his or her turn.

We wanted to share pictures of the children receiving rosaries that we sent to them. Many have put much love and effort into making the rosaries that were sent.
We thank those who have donated rosaries and also help with donations that allow us to send these packages.
We welcome this new Children's Rosary group in Pakistan!
