A Day of Incredible Blessings at the National Shrine of Divine Mercy

Dear Friends,

In honor of the 100th Anniversary of the Apparitions of Fatima the Children's Rosary was invited to Divine Mercy Sunday at the National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge Massachusetts USA.  It has been a prayer for years that such an invitation might come. Indeed Our Lord gives His gifts in His time and He always gives them in such a way that the gift has extra special meaning.

So it was with this gift. The first invitation was for the children to come and lead a Children's Rosary before the many pilgrims that visit the Shrine on Divine Mercy Sunday.  The weather as the day approached was predicted to be rather cold (in the 50s F) and rainy.  All I could imagine were the children out in the rain and mud. Taking all concerns to Our Heavenly Mother, I asked her to help the children on that day. So it was with much excitement that I received news from a friend on Thursday evening that the weather predictions had changed! No longer was Sunday going to rain. Instead, it was predicted to be high 60s and sunny. Praise Jesus! The umbrellas you see in the picture are not to protect people from rain but the sun. But being in the Berkshire hills, there was always a breeze blowing so the weather was an absolute 10!  A few weeks before Divine Mercy Sunday another invitation came. This was an invitation that I might speak for 20 minutes to the pilgrims about the Children's Rosary. This too was a precious gift for not only would so many see and pray with the children but they might also hear about how the children's prayers are spreading across the globe and also ways that they might be involved as well.  With such an opportunity to reach so many one might have expected a long time in crafting a speech. Well my common sense would have said, yes, this is what one does when one is speaking to many people (well in this case around 20,000).  But my heart said otherwise. Instead I prayed. My preparation was prayer. So I humbly share the talk that resulted which was posted by the Marians on their site: HERE.

In addition to the children leading the Children's Rosary we had one other exciting piece planned. The children were to sing our theme song "Rosary Children" written by Fr. Lawrence Tucker.  Providentially, Jack Yourous was able to travel and be with us that day and lead the children in the song while playing the guitar.

Indeed the day was perfect. The weather was sunny with absolute clear skies. To see the skies and the people covering the hills in prayer during the Mass that followed the Children's Rosary was incredibly emotional. For my heart was overcome with gratitude for all that had been given.

The Rosary that was prayed on Divine Mercy Sunday was offered up for the intention of Peace...very fitting for the approaching 100 Anniversary of Fatima. The children did a beautiful job reverently leading the Children's Rosary. We had approximately 15 children all gathered kneeling before the altar. They took turns leading the prayers and placing roses before Our Blessed Mother. Our youngest leader was just 6 years old. We also had one child lead a decade in Spanish.
The song "Rosary Children" carried out over the hills at the end of the Rosary. The last lines of the song sung over and over  "Live in His Love, Live in His Love, Live in His Love." It seemed many hearts were touched that day for as we left the altar there were many people approaching the children and myself asking for information about the Children's Rosary. We are praying very hard now and ask for your prayers that the seeds sown that day will bear bountiful fruit for Our Lord and Our Lady.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Fr. Gramlich the Rector and the Marians for the invitation to come to Divine Mercy Sunday. We would like to thank all those who unified prayers with us that day. Many prayers were said for all of the members of the Children's Rosary.

Lastly we would like to thank God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as well as Our Blessed Mother. We felt many blessing that day and none could have happened without their help.

Your Friend in Christ,
Blythe

We are very grateful to the Children's Rosary in Shillong, India for the beautiful gift of the Holy Mass offered for the members of the Children's Rosary. Mercy In Action: The Children Visit a Leper Community on Divine Mercy Sunday

On Divine Mercy Sunday a group children who are part of the Children's Rosary set out to visit the St. Francis of Assisi Community.  This is a group of approximately 86 Lepers living 30 minutes outside of Bien Hoa City Vietnam.

They brought soap for each person and a bag of food for each person.  The children felt that on Divine Mercy Sunday this is where they wanted to be...reaching out to those marginalized and alone.
The children not only brought nourishment for the body they also led a Rosary with them.

Mass Offered for Members of the Children's Rosary on April 25th 2017

A Mass was offered today for all the members of the Children's Rosary and all who help the Children's Rosary.  We continue to have a Mass said for the this intention on the 25th of each month. The Eucharist is such a powerful gift from Our Lord that when I wanted to extend thanksgiving to all of you I knew of no better way to express my gratitude.  May Our Lord's love be poured down on all of you through the powerful sacrifice of the Holy Mass.

The picture above is of four Children's Rosary groups in Pakistan that met together in Butan Pura to attend Mass and to pray the Rosary during Lent. The children who attended were from Daydaen, Chahl Claen, Ashraf Town, and Butan Pura.  As having access to attend Holy Mass is very special when one lives in one of the sub-parishes, the children felt it was a great blessing to be able to attend Mass. As the Holy Rosary is centered around the life of Christ, the children are growing in faith and love of Our Lord and the gifts He gave to us through the Sacraments.

Consecration of a New Children's Rosary Group to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary

On Palm Sunday Fr. George Ssali celebrated Mass at St. Mary's Church in Jinja, Uganda.  At the conclusion of Mass, he Consecrated this new Children's Rosary group to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary.  In this way, the group is under the protection and guidance of Christ and His Mother.
The children also received Rosaries which we had sent them. In the photo above you can see a child receiving his own Rosary. The children we heard, very much loved the Rosaries they were given. We thank all those who put such care and love into the rosaries that they make and send to the Children's Rosary. This means so much to the children.
After receiving their Rosaries the children participated in a procession with Palms.

The children gathered later in the afternoon for their weekly Children's Rosary group meeting.

The Children Honor Our Lord's Passion

The Children's Rosary at the House for Street Children of Imus in the Philippines shared these pictures from the Lenten Season. Nanette explained that the children during the meeting first prayed the Rosary and then made the Way of the Cross. The picture above is of the children genuflecting at the 14th Station of the Cross.  It is beautiful to see how the children have spent time with Our Lord contemplating his Passion. We thank all those from Imus who helped organize such a beautiful time of prayer for the children.

Join Us in Praying the Divine Mercy Novena!

Dear Friends,

Good Friday is the day that Jesus asked Saint Faustina that a 9 day novena to the Divine Mercy be initiatied.  He gave her a different group of souls to pray for each day.  Along with those intentions the Chaplet of Divine Mercy is said as well. The novena leads up to Divine Mercy Sunday instituted by Pope John Paul II. Attached is a link to the Divine Mercy Novena and how to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

May the children’s Rosary humbly ask that you include our intention with the intentions you are praying this Divine Mercy Novena.  Please remember that to become a member of the Children’s Rosary you only have to tell Our Lord in your heart of your desire to join us and then you will be included in all of these novenas and rosaries said daily. We thank you!

Intention:

MAY THE CHILDREN’S ROSARY, THEIR FAMILIES, THOSE ASSOCIATED WITH THE CHILDREN’S ROSARY INCLUDING OUR PRIESTS, OUR BISHOP AND OUR HOLY FATHER THE POPE BE THE EXTENDED HANDS OF OUR BLESSED MOTHER AND HER SON. MAY WE GATHER A GREAT MANY SOULS ESPECIALLY YOUNG PEOPLE FOR THE LORD.  MAY WE EXPERIENCE RENEWAL OF FAMILY PRAYER AND SPREAD IT ACROSS THE GLOBE. MAY A GREAT MANY PEOPLE BE BROUGHT TO OUR CHILDREN'S ROSARY THAT WE MAY BLANKET THE EARTH WITH PEOPLE WANTING TO BE THE EXTENDED HANDS OF MARY AND JESUS. AMEN

We are excited to share that we have a recording of the children leading the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.  We invite you to pray with them as you say your novena.

Anniversary Mass for the Children's Rosary in Malaybalay City, Philippines

Today we received these beautiful pictures from the Mass offered on the Anniversary of the founding of the Children's Rosary (April 10th). The Mass was celebrated by Fr. Bonifacio Cabaya at San Ignacio de Loyola sub parish at Kalasungay, Malaybalay City Philippines.

Forty children who are part of the Children's Rosary in Malaybalay City were able to attend.
The Mass was offered for the Fulfillment of Our Lady's Plans for the Children's Rosary.

The children were very much a part of the Mass. Two of the younger children carried candles while several other children followed bringing up gifts for the offertory.

The children all gathered together following the Mass for a celebratory lunch!

Today is the last day that we have Masses offered for the Fulfillment of Our Lady's plans for the Children's Rosary. In total we had 41 Masses offered for this intention in honor of the Anniversary of the beginning of the Children's Rosary on April 10th.  On Easter Sunday we will begin a nine day novena of Masses in Thanksgiving.

Numbers are Increasing!

There is some beautiful news to report.  Fr. Jude Ssali shares that a new Children's Rosary group has formed in one of his 13 sub parishes(outstations) in Uganda.  He shares that already there are 75 children signed up to participate in the group. The first meeting was held on Sunday March 26th 2017. The group has decided to meet each Sunday at 11:15 AM local time. Fr. Jude shares that there are still more children enrolling! He hopes by the end of the year to have all 13 outposts associated with Our Lady of Fatima Parish each with their own Children's Rosary prayer group.

With such large numbers of children participating we quickly sent more Rosaries so that each child could have one.  Fr. Jude was able to travel to the post office and receive the package yesterday on our Anniversary. He is pictured below with the package.  We are so grateful to Our Lord for allowing us to be able to reach such beautiful children and also witness their incredible faith.  Thank you to those who keep sending us handmade Rosaries.  This is where they go...into the hands of children. Thank you to all who support these efforts through prayers and financial support.  Each piece comes together to allow more and more children to be joined together in prayer.

Please remember to visit our new website www.childrensrosary.org to see when Children's Rosary groups are meeting. The children invite you to unify prayers with them when they meet.  There is a button called  "join in prayer" which allows you to add your light to our "View from Heaven" map and also see the children's blue flashing light on the map when groups are meeting.

A Gift of Infinite Value

Today was the 6 year anniversary of the first meeting of the Children's  Rosary.  It has become a yearly tradition to give Our Lady a special gift on the anniversary.  The gift the children humbly share is a 9 day novena of Masses leading up to the anniversary.  Last year we were able to have two Masses offered daily on the 9 days preceding the anniversary.  This year we were able to offer three Masses daily for the nine days.  All were offered for the fulfillment of Our Lady's plans for the Children's Rosary.  There were many people who contributed to help in providing donations for the Masses.  Fr. Jude Ssali who is the Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Uganda wrote that he would offer one Mass on each of the 9 days himself. Fr. Jude Ssali is pictured above with the Children's Rosary group in his parish.

Today 6 Masses were said for the fulfillment of Our Ladies plans for the Children's Rosary. (A Mass for each year!) One of the Masses was offered at San Ignacio de Loyola sub parish in Kalasungay, Malaybalay City Philippines by the Children's Rosary groups there. Given the outpouring of love that we received for the anniversary we were able to also request 4 Masses on April 11th and 4 Masses on April 12th also for the fulfillment of Our Lady's plans for the Children's Rosary. This brings the grand total of Masses said in petition to 41. We will follow this up with a novena of Masses in Thanksgiving beginning on Easter Sunday. There is still time to contribute to this effort.  It would give us great joy to offer more Masses in Thanksgiving then we offered in petition.  How happy would Our Heavenly Mother be to see that her children did not forget to thank their Father in Heaven.  Indeed each mother always asks her children...did you say thank you?  We wish to bow our heads and extend our hands with an armful of Masses.

A very special thank you to all who have helped with this gift of Masses which has infinite value and all who are part of the tapestry of prayer that comprises the Children's Rosary.

For those who would like to make a donation for our Thanksgiving Novena which begins on Easter Sunday the information is provided below.

Donations can be made out to Children's Rosary Inc and sent to:

Palm Sunday Processions in Pakistan 2017

Today we received many many pictures of Children's Rosary groups meeting in Pakistan. In addition to praying the Rosary they also led and participated in Palm Sunday processions through the streets of their towns.
Seeing these pictures from the Middle East one can imagine the streets Our Lord passed through.

We are glad that going into Holy Week there are so many children meeting to pray. To offer their prayers up to Our Lord and remember the walk He made into Jerusalem.

During one of the processions some of the children threw rose petals.
Many carried flowers decorating their palms. As one sees with children, they always try to make the things they do special and beautiful.  One can imagine Our Lord smiles to see the care they took to remember Him.

Mass Offered for Seminarians on April 1, 2017

A Mass was offered today for all seminarians that they will grow in holiness and lead us all in love. Every month we have a Mass offered for this intention. As our seminarians will be the future shepherds and our children are the future flock, it seemed a beautiful way for the children to help.

We have been periodically featuring different seminarians on the first of the month by inviting them to share something of themselves - a beautiful sharing of faith and love of Our Lord.

Today, when one would expect the warmth of spring, we have ice and snow falling in the Northeast part of the United States.  Yet, through this we see the beauty of spring peeking through. Just so there is great beauty in the hearts of men saying, "Yes" to a life in service of Our Lord. Today we would like to share the stories of two such men.  These are beautiful stories and I hope many will want to share these with their children and also pray for these young men.

Kevin Camilo
"Hello, my name is Kevin Camilo, and I am currently in my sophomore year of the minor seminary studying for the Archdiocese of New York. I was born on September 19, 1995 in Brooklyn New York. I lived there for most of my life before spending some time in Missouri, California, and settled back again in New York. My mother was always very devout and she tried her best to instill the faith in my siblings and I. Now I first felt the call to the priesthood when I was about 10 years old. I have memories of looking at the priest all wide eyed as he would elevate the body and blood of Jesus. As I went through middle school into high school I put the idea of priesthood more and more on the back burner, until I found myself walking somewhat far from God. During my senior years of high school, the good Lord called me back to Himself and I rediscovered the faith of my mother and the love of that God had for me. As I started to practice the faith and take responsibility for it, our Lord once again brought the thought of priesthood back to my mind. I ran away at first but after a while the love of God caught up with me and with great peace I realized that this was something I had to at least take a look at. So I spoke to my parish priest and he spoke to me about what a vocation is and what it means to feel called to the priesthood. After about two years I decided to take the leap of faith and apply for the seminary. By the goodness of God, I was accepted and not a day goes by that I regret it. Seminary life is not without out its difficulties and even doubts at times, but I know that God is always faithful and more and more He has become my daily strength regardless of where He may lead me."

Niall McDonagh

Childhood
"I was born in Westminster, London, to Irish parents in 1984. I am the middle child of three boys. I received the sacraments as I attended Catholic Primary and Secondary school. My mother brought me to mass as a child, and did her best to ensure I was exposed to the faith.
My priority as a child was soccer, either watching it or playing it. Like most young boys it was always my dream to be a professional soccer player.

Moved to Ireland as a 14 year old
My family and I moved to Galway, Ireland, in my teens. I found this initial move hard to take. As with most teens all you want to do is fit in with the crowd, at that age your peers mean everything to you. Playing a high standard of soccer allowed me to make friends and feel accepted among my peers. I was captain of the school soccer team. As I made friends I developed a social life at a young age and my Catholic faith played no role in my life.
School was becoming less important to me as my social life was taking over. I received a sport soccer scholarship while at university. I had a girlfriend, many friends and popularity. Mass and prayer were not things I would have wasted my time with! My lifestyle was earning me popularity for the wrong reasons, and I was beginning to isolate myself from the rest of my family.
Over the space of 9 months my life was turned upside down.
I left the University course I was studying as I realized it wasn’t for me. Shortly after, while playing a soccer match I sustained a serious leg injury. I was on the wrong end of a bad tackle, and broke my leg severely, it was a compound fracture of my tibia and fibula. I had three surgeries, where I had a metal rod inserted through my knee and 4 screws to hold it in place. This was a painful experience for me on many levels. My priorities were really challenged, as I had lived for playing soccer, and it had been taken away from me.
Then the dreaded news came, "Niall, worst case scenario, we are going to amputate your leg." This news hit me badly, it was like a knife to my heart. My biggest worry up to that point was what soccer team I would sign for, and now I was faced with the prospect of having my leg amputated.
The night before the surgery while lying in my hospital bed, I really started to enter myself for the first time in years. I began to ask questions regarding my existence, "Why is this happening to me?" "What's this life all about"?!  For the first time in years I began to pray, "God if you are real then please save my leg. I’ll be good from now on and I’ll change my life, please help me"...and thank God after three more surgeries and plastic surgery, my leg made a recovery. For some reason I believed that God had heard my prayer.

Conversion
After this event that occurred in my life I began to seek out a meaning and purpose to my existence. I had a Bible that I began to read regularly. I began to compare passages in the Bible to my own life, and the more my existence started to make sense. I became more curious about my faith and regularly discussed it with my mother, and started to attend Catholic events.
I had by this time established a prayer life and a relationship with God. My focus was changing from the materialistic things of today’s world to Christ himself.
I dedicated my time to helping the homeless, reading and learning more about my faith. In 2014 I came to the South Bronx, New York to work with the Missionaries of Charity in a homeless shelter. It was while serving the homeless and the forgotten that I felt the Lord inviting me to discern my vocation at a deeper level. In 2015 I entered seminary for the Archdiocese of New York.
Reflecting on my life, it is evident that invoking the Saints has played a pivotal role on this journey. Praying to Ignatius Loyola, who also found God through a leg injury brings me great courage. St Damien of Molokai, the ‘suffering servant’ who lived and died with lepers exiled on the island of Molokai, is a true example for me, an example of how to live with joy and solidarity with the outcasts of the world. St. Teresa of Kolkata, and my experiences with her congregation, has laid a foundation for my faith ‘to do small things with love’ and to ‘see Christ in everyone.’ And my devotion to our Blessed Mother, has brought me closer to her son Jesus.
I feel it must be mentioned that none of the above took place on my own merit, but simply by God’s grace working in my life. Surrendering my own will, and cooperating with God, has brought me on a journey that I could never have imagined. I have done nothing to deserve the way He has blessed me, or the way He continues to act in my life. There has been a major transformation, and a complete renewal of my mind, and none of it has been my doing, but simply saying yes, and surrendering my will to Him. I hope to always wholeheartedly try, with the grace that I receive, to do the will of God."

A special thank you to Kevin Camilo and Naill McDonagh for sharing their beautiful vocation stories. Please keep them in your prayers.
