A Sea of Daisies

Looking at this sea of daisies, one could think of the many pure souls of children who pray in Children's Rosary prayer groups throughout the world. They are beautiful on their own but when you put them together: breathtaking!

Recently we had an opportunity to try our hand at writing poetry...haiku to be specific. This is a Japanese form of poetry that is short, containing only three verses. The first verse has 5 syllables, the second  7 and the last 5.
These haiku poems shown below were written by two different members of the Children's Rosary.

The Children's Rosary was the inspiration for both:

We are kids praying
from each corner of the globe.
Many, yet one voice

Children in Christ's Heart
Praying together as one
Fill the earth with love.

Prayers for Members of the Children's Rosary before a Relic of St. Thomas the Apostle

The parish where the Children's Rosary began is named after Saint Thomas the Apostle.  Next week (July 3rd) is the Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle. In anticipation of the Feast, yesterday there was an opportunity to venerate a first class relic of St. Thomas the Apostle at the Parish where the Children's Rosary began. While touching the relic I prayed for all the members of the Children's Rosary and all who help the Children's Rosary.

The Pastor of our parish has also kindly given permission for the relic to be present during our monthly Children's Rosary on Sunday July 7th 8th at 9:45 AM ET at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish West Hartford Connecticut. We will again be praying for you. Please consider unifying prayers with us that morning and clicking "join in prayer" on our Children's Rosary website: www.childrensrosary.org

God bless you all. Amen

Fifty English Children's Rosary books, 10 Spanish books, 300 Children's Rosary bookmarks, 54 Join in Prayer cards, 20 Children's Rosary stickers and 170 Rosaries went out to one of our Children's Rosary groups in Texas. They held their first meeting on February 13th 2017 and now meet three times a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 2PM CT). The group leader reported that the children hold their meetings at the Church kneeling before the Tabernacle.  You will see their twinkling blue light flashing on our View from Heaven map shortly. Please consider joining them in prayer and adding your gold twinkling light to the View from Heaven map. You can do this by visiting our site: www.childrensrosary.org and clicking the button "Join in Prayer". This will add a gold twinkling light for 30 minutes to the map. First Children's Rosary in Haiti!

We received news this week that a new Children's Rosary has begun in Haiti. The first meeting was held on May 19th 2018. The group has begun at Immaculata's House in Petite Groave, Haiti. Immaculata's House is a home for orphans and other disadvantaged children.
Earlier this spring we sent a package of rosaries and Children's Rosary materials in French to the group leader. This week we heard the good news that the Children's Rosary had started. We welcome these children from Haiti to the Children's Rosary. God bless you.

Rosaries Leave for Arizona Today

Today a box of rosaries and Children's Rosary materials was sent to our Children's Rosary group in Meza, Arizona USA. Often we feature packages going abroad but this week we have boxes going to places in the United States. Included in the box today were 300 handmade rosaries as well as some Children's Rosary stickers, our new Join in Prayer cards, Children's Rosary bookmarks, and a pack of Children's Rosary books in Spanish. Before the box was carried to the post office on foot, it was prayed over. We thank those who have sent us rosaries. We like to show where materials are going as people put so much love and effort into making them.
God bless you all.

Mass Offered on June 25 2018 for all the Members of the Children's Rosary

A Mass was offered today for all the members of the Children's Rosary and all who help the Children's Rosary.  We continue to have a Mass said for the this intention on the 25th of each month. The Eucharist is such a powerful gift from Our Lord that when I wanted to extend thanksgiving to all of you I knew of no better way to express my gratitude.  May Our Lord's love be poured down on all of you through the powerful sacrifice of the Holy Mass.
The pictures included in this post are from our new Children's Rosary group at St. Anthony Church in Papnakha, Pakistan. They held their first meeting on May 26th 2018. The Rosaries given to the children were ones that we sent to them. A special thank you to those who have helped us with donations that help cover these shipping expenses and also to those who have donated Rosaries.

If you would like to help us continue this work donations can be made HERE.

Five years ago today (June 25th 2013) an interview was recorded about the Children's Rosary with Fr. Andrew Apostoli. EWTN aired the interview on September 29th 2013. We wish to thank God the Father for this gift that helped us reach more children around the world. The interview is included below:

"Make Straight the Way for the Lord"

"John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way of the Lord.'" (John1:23) On this beautiful Feast of the Nativity of John the Baptist, I wanted to humbly share a gift with those who are our "Core Lights" for the View from Heaven map on our website www.childrensrosary.org

A Mass was offered today for this intention:
For the sanctification of those who are "Core Lights" on our Children's Rosary website. The priest offering the Mass mentioned that a person who was deceased was also remembered in the Mass.

To all our "Core Lights," thank you for being a light in the darkness and through your prayers encouraging others to join in prayer.

May God Bless You.

United in prayer.

Rosaries leave today for Uganda!

Today we were able to send a large box to Uganda. The package contained 408 Rosaries. Most of these were handmade. We also sent Children's Rosary books - each of which is a seed for a new Children's Rosary group. The package will be going to Mary Mother of the Good Shepherd Parish. This Parish has many outposts and more and more of the outposts are initiating Children's Rosary groups. Thus, the need for rosaries for the children continues. On this eve of the Feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, we as so happy to be able to send these Rosaries to children in Uganda.

We ask in a special way for the intercession of St. John the Baptist that these materials will bear many fruits in the hearts of children and that the Children's Rosary will continue to spread. Amen.

Following the Light

Tonight as evening was upon us our son Asher bounded into the house announcing that there was a double rainbow outside. He and I hurried outside. The second rainbow was just fading but the first remained bright across the sky.  We marveled at the beauty and Asher (age 11) did his best to capture the moment with some pictures. We decided to take a walk, camera in hand.

There was also a breathtaking sunset also before us. The colors were magnificent and the views were changing by the second with the brightest colors slipping behind trees. We kept following the sun as it dipped lower and the colors could be seen as glimpses between houses. We realized that the brightest colors were in the direction of the Church. We began to walk faster to try to reach the Church before the last bit of light was gone. As we got to the Church there was just a bit of light coming from behind the Church. The doors of the Church were locked. But an idea came. We could still have a visit to the Blessed Sacrament as the Tabernacle was by a wall of stained glass. As we approached the wall of stained glass from the outside we could see the candle inside the Church next to the Tabernacle flickering. There was Our Lord so close to us in the Tabernacle. As the light outside was fading a light remained in the Church...though small and flickering we could see it. There was a cobblestone rock ledge along the stained glass outside and so we sat to rest with Our Lord.

Tonight is the eve of the longest day of the year in the Northern hemisphere. Tomorrow will be the summer solstice. It is a day my mother looks forward to all spring but when it comes she becomes a bit sad as the days become shorter again. Tonight on the eve of the longest day of the year our feelings seemed juxtaposed to the experience of watching a fleeting rainbow and the last rays of a brilliant sunset. Time is going by very fast. We are on a journey and our time like a sunset is going quickly even though we may feel we have a long, long time to go.

Let us make good use of our time.

Father's Day Celebration in Pakistan

In our previous post we shared how the Children's Rosary group in Ugu Chak Pakistan was preparing for Father's Day. The children planned a special program at the Church to honor their fathers. In turns the children came forward and presented gifts to their fathers. The program included prayers and singing.

A number of Children's Rosary groups met on Father's Day. The picture directly below was taken at Butan Pura, Pakistan on Father's Day.

The last picture was also taken on Father's Day. This is our Children's Rosary group in Musa Dukhl, Pakistan.

We thank the children for all their prayers for Fathers.

Preparing for Father's Day

Today we received these beautiful pictures from Pakistan. The Children's Rosary at Ugu Chak has been preparing for Father's Day. The children made cards to give to their Fathers. They have prepared a special program at the Church to honor their Fathers on Sunday. They will give their cards to their Dads at this event.

Father's are extremely important and they need our love and prayers. I was very happy to see the efforts of the children to show their love and appreciation for their Fathers

New Children's Rosary to Meet in Little Rock, Arkansas Today!

We are excited to share that a new Children's Rosary is forming at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Little Rock, Arkansas USA. They will hold their first meeting this evening at 5PM Central Time. You will see their blue twinkling light flashing on our View from Heaven map when they are praying and you can click "join in prayer" and add your gold twinkling light.

We have included this picture above of an apple blossom just getting ready to open. The state flower for Arkansas is the apple blossom. We particularly liked this image as there is an anticipation for the opening of this cluster of blossoms just as we are preparing for the opening of this new Children's Rosary in Little Rock.

Rosaries to Tanzania

Today we packed a large box filled with 500 Rosaries. Almost all of these were handmade rosaries. Ten Children's Rosary books were also included in the package. The destination was Tanzania.  A seminarian has requested these materials to help begin a Children's Rosary in the parish he has been assigned to for the summer. These rosaries represent the work of many who through love take the time to make a rosary for another soul who needs one. We are also grateful to those who help us with monetary donations. Currently funds to cover shipping expenses limit our ability to respond to requests. Donations to the Children's Rosary help us continue to say "Yes" to those trying to bring children to prayer around the world. We are most grateful for any help.

Donations can be made online HERE
Alternatively, checks can be made out to Children's Rosary and sent to:
PO Box 271743
West Hartford, CT 06127 USA

Thank you all very much!

Just a little reminder it is 9 days until the Feast of St. John the Baptist. Consider saying a NOVENA leading up to the Feast.

Prayers and Blessings on the Feast of St. Anthony of Padua

On this Feast of St. Anthony of Padua, prayers were said for all the members of the Children's Rosary and all who help the Children's Rosary while venerating a first class relic of St. Anthony of Padua.

Today we also had the wonderful blessing of speaking to a member of the Parish of St. Anthony of Padua in East Newark, New Jersey USA. She shared the wonderful news that a a new Children's Rosary had formed at her parish. This new group meets weekly on Thursday evenings. She was happy to report that the group had grown from 4 children to 6 children and the children are very happy to come to the meetings.

We thank God for such blessings this day.

New Children's Rosary to Meet Tonight in Boone, Iowa USA

We are excited to share that a new Children's Rosary will meet tonight at Sacred Heart Church in Boone, Iowa USA. This group will be holding their meetings on the second Tuesday of every month at 7PM CT. Please consider unifying in prayers with the children tonight. Visit our site www.childrensrosary.org and click "Join in Prayer" to add your gold twinkling light to our View from Heaven map. When the children are meeting in their group you will see their blue twinkling light on the map. The video below is a visual representation of our View from Heaven map on our website. It helps to show how we are all unified in prayer and how this may be viewed from Heaven.

We also thought the children might enjoy seeming the picture at the top of this post. It is a train that runs through the Boone region. It must be quite a view for the conductor as he passes above the treetops.

Sunflowers for Our Lady

One of the optional components of a Children's Rosary meeting is the addition of flowers. The children take turns placing a flower at the foot of Our Lady at the end of each decade of the Rosary. While the child is placing the flower the group leader asks Our Lady for the fruit of that mystery. Usually we have roses for Our Lady. But in anticipation of our two Children's Rosary meetings this weekend in West Hartford, Connecticut we decided to do something special for Our Lady. We chose sunflowers.

We were excited to bring something new for Our Lady as a surprise. We held our monthly Children's Rosary at St. Peter Claver on Saturday which was the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We also met this morning June 10th at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. Our meeting on Saturday was small with four of us in attendance. The meeting today was a bit larger with 5 young people and 6 adults. Little Casey again joined us today. She had come for the first time last month. She is almost three and was the child to crown Our Lady in May. Today she fell right into the routine kneeling next to the other children. We had another child Mia join us. Little Casey held her rosary outstretched in her hands often moving her hands to the next bead as she watched Mia praying next to her. It was beautiful to see how comfortable Casey was with the children this month. She never left the other children to go back to her mother. She placed two of our sunflowers at the feet of Our Lady. The second flower she placed she did unassisted. It is special to see a child so young participating in the Children's Rosary. Her presence was particularly meaningful for Mia as she could see that she was a model for Casey during the prayers. This mentorship is rewarding for the older children and helps to keep them engaged.

We had some other exciting additions this weekend. We brought a first class relic of St. Gemma Galgani to the meeting. Before we began praying, I read some facts about St. Gemma to those in attendance and also a quote of hers. For those unfamiliar with this saint, St. Gemma received the Stigmata on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 8th 1899. She is the patron of students, those suffering from back injury or pain and headaches, those struggling with temptations to impurity and those seeking purity of heart. She died at the young age of 25 of tuberculosis. Given St. Gemma's particular patronage regarding purity, we prayed in a special way today during the Rosary for protection of purity for the members of the Children's Rosary. There is a great promise in the Gospels for those who are pure of heart. We are told "they will see God".(Matthew 5:8)

Another addition to the meetings this weekend were some homemade baked goods. My daughter Alina made homemade chocolate chip cookies which she brought to both meetings. Today many were happy to take a little bag at the end of our meeting each with two homemade cookies inside. Our Lady helps to make our time in prayer sweet so we felt happy to have little treats for the kids. This is something we began doing last month and we hope to continue this little tradition of a snack. More and more I am seeing within our group and within other groups how such little additions mean a great deal to children.

The final picture shown below was taken at the end of our Children's Rosary at St. Peter Claver Parish on Saturday. We close with this image of Our Lady surrounded by sunflowers.
