100th Birthday of St. John Paul II

May 18th 2020 is the 100th Birthday of St. John Paul II. Our Children's Rosary books, CDs and DVD are dedicated to the Holy Trinity, Our Blessed Mother and in gratitude for the intercession of St. John Paul II. We have always found St. John Paul II to be a great friend to the Children's Rosary. As today was approaching the Children's Rosary began to get many special favors. We found out that EWTN will be airing the Children's Rosary in the US today at 4:30 PM Eastern Time. Next we heard that EWTN Español will be re-airing the Nuestra Fe en Vivo interview about the Children's Rosary with Asher from 2017. This interview originally helped to spread the Children's Rosary (Rosario de Niños) through many Spanish speaking countries. There are also several projects we have been working on that seem to have taken a big step forward in the last day.

Happy Feast of St. John Paul II

Today we have good news to share. A new Children's Rosary met for the first time today in a parish named after St. John Paul the Great. The new group met in Torrington, Connecticut USA. The group leader reported that approximately 10 families with their children attended. The new group is a mixture of English and Spanish speaking children. The group was able to alternate their prayers with decades in English and Spanish.

We also received several weeks ago a statue of St. John Paul II shown above. This was donated to the Children's Rosary. We plan to send this statue to Uganda in the next barrel that will be sent out.  We are grateful to the person who donated the statue and we are sure the children will love it.  We wish you all a very special and blessed Feast of St. John Paul II.

Today is the anniversary of when John Paul II was elected Pope. In honor of this anniversary we lit a candle in honor of St. John Paul II and we said a prayer for all the members of the Children's Rosary.

St. John Paul II had a strong devotion to the Rosary.  He prayed 15 decades daily. He was quoted as saying, "The Rosary is my favorite prayer".

Dear Friends,
This week we have been in San Antonio, Texas USA.  My husband has had a work related trip which occurs every other year.  With my joint disability, I need his help each day so that meant I was also going to San Antonio, too.  A great joy was our youngest son Asher also came along to help me open doors and leave the hotel during the day.  We have had a most blessed week visiting the beautiful historic Churches that exist in San Antonio.  We have also used this time to pray for all of you.  One of the Churches we have been able to frequent each day is San Fernando Cathedral. This Cathedral was founded in 1731 and is the oldest Cathedral Sanctuary in the United States. 

There is a statue of St. John Paul II in the back of the Church with a first class relic.  St. John Paul II visited this Cathedral on September 13th 1987.  

As this Thursday, October 22nd, we will celebrate the feast of St. John Paul II it has been very special to pray each day in a church with his relic. Today Asher and I went before the relic and while touching it we prayed in a special way for all members of the Children's Rosary and all your families.  We prayed that St. John Paul II would intercede for the Children's Rosary and all our families to help lead us in holiness.  We asked for St. John Paul II to remain close to the Children's Rosary and help us.  There was also another statue of a Saint next to Saint John Paul II. It was a statue of Saint Toribio Romo, a Mexican martyr. St. John Paul II canonized St. Romo in 2000.  St. Romo was a priest with a deep spiritual life and a devotion to catechesis. A first class relic was also present beneath the statue of St. Romo.  Touching the relic we also prayed that he would intercede and help the members of the Children's Rosary.  Asher also very much wanted to light a candle for all of you.  

After praying before these relics we purchased a candle to light for all the members of the Children's Rosary and their families.  Asher carefully lit the candle and placed it before the ornate gold tabernacle and a large crucifix.  Asher and I again prayed for you all and your families.  We are told the candle will burn before the altar for approximately 1 week.  We asked Our Lord to see this candle as a small gift from the Children's Rosary showing our love for Him.

Pope John Paul II had a wonderful devotion to the Rosary.  He prayed 15 decades daily.  He was quoted as saying it was his favorite prayer.  This week I have spent staying just steps away from the Basilica of Mary Queen of the Universe in Orlando, Florida USA.  Due to my joint problems I cannot keep up with the busy schedule of the rest of the family as they visit parks.  Yet there is a blessing in such a disability, as I found I had lots of quiet time to pray and enjoy the Adoration chapel at the Basilica and the beautiful Rosary garden.  At the beginning of the Rosary walk is a statue of John Paul II with the words from the Apostolic Letter Rosarium Virginis Maria: "to recite the Rosary is nothing other than to contemplate with Mary the face of Christ".  On Tuesday there was a wonderful surprise Valerie and three of her children came to visit at the Basilica.  They lead a Children's Rosary in Naples, Florida almost 3 and a half hours away from Orlando where we were staying. Valerie's note that morning that she and the children would like to make the trip was joyful indeed.  Having never met Valerie and her family this was a special treat.  I realized in a special way today in prayer that Our Lord had sent Valerie and her children for a personal reason.  I had been praying very hard for help with one of my children as there had been many struggles recently with him.  In particular a feeling I wasn't doing a very good job in the mom department.  Sometimes one finds it is so much easier to be good to people outside ones house.  To bring charity into the home well that is where the daily challenge lies at least in my house.  

Valerie shared with me that she felt strongly that she should bring the kids for the visit. Today in quiet prayer I began to see that Our Lord was giving me a beautiful glimpse at a Mom who indeed struggles as a parent but is doing it with so much love.  With the children running around and exploring the grounds of the Basilica I was able to watch her and see how beautifully she handled the challenges.  Sometimes Our Lord sends people to help us. To witness love and so we can feel a renewal to try even harder in our own lives.  The path is not easy.  There are low points and questioning.  Yet I am seeing that so many have been a witness to me through the Children's Rosary.  They have inspired me and continue to inspire me.  We are all a net for each other.  Our Lady and Our Lord borrow our hands to help support each other.  They are able to use us when we give our consent to such actions.  In our Rosaries and the many novenas we have prayed that we might be the extended hands of Mary and Jesus in this world.  In this way we allow them to use us.  

May I humbly thank you all for your witness to me of love and prayer.    As a member of the Children's Rosary at the low points there is such a wonderful consolation to know that there are children each day praying for each of us that we may grow in holiness.  I spend a good deal of my prayer time praying for members of the Children's Rosary but I know that I receive far more than I could ever give.

A Saint for Young People: St. John Paul II

The Church honors St. John Paul II tomorrow: October 22nd.  This being the first time we will celebrate his Feast as a Saint within the Church it is a particularly special day.  St. John Paul II spent a good deal of his life reaching out to young people.  He began World Youth Day during his Pontificate. His invitation to young people was a personal one for me as I grew up during the years he was Pope. For my own part I was one of the hundreds of thousands of young people who gathered in Denver to welcome the Pope to World Youth Day in 1992.  I remember clearly, as the Pope landed in Mile High Stadium by helicopter, the rain stopped and a rainbow stretched across the sky. 

His love of young people would span his whole lifetime.  The Pope's last audible words, on hearing tens of thousands of young people singing in St. Peter's Square as he lay in his deathbed, Friday, April 1, 2005: "I sought you out and now you come to me. Thank you."

There has been a feeling throughout the formation and growth of the Children's Rosary that Pope John Paul II has been close to this project and in a special way interceding for us.  The Children's Rosary book was written in large part on his Feast October 22nd 2012.  Both the book and then the subsequent CDs were dedicated to the Holy Trinity, Our Blessed Mother and in gratitude for the Intercession of Pope John Paul II.  Throughout these projects there have been wonderful little signal graces reassuring us that Pope John Paul indeed is close to us and helping us in our work to bring little children to the Rosary and Our Blessed Mother.  Two devotions that were particularly dear to him.
Tomorrow on the Feast of St. John Paul II there is beautiful news.  A new Children's Rosary group is meeting for the first time in a school in Queensland, Australia.  The name of the school is St. Kieran's School.  This was one of the first schools in Australia begun by the Italian order of Conossian nuns.  The school is located in Brighton.  The children will be meeting before school to hold their first Children's Rosary.  As with all new Children's Rosary groups the group will be Consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary.  In this way the group is under the protection of Christ and His Mother.

"I sought you out and now you come to me"

These were the last audible words of Pope John Paul II on hearing tens of thousands of young people singing in St. Peter's Square as he lay in his deathbed.  It was Friday April 1 2005, the eve of Divine Mercy Sunday when he uttered, "I sought you out and now you come to me. Thank you."  Indeed he did seek out children and young people throughout his Papacy.  As one of the young people who traveled to Denver for World Youth Day in 1993, I can attest to this.  His beautiful faith and trust in the Blessed Virgin Mary also was a beautiful pillar of his Papacy as well.  Tomorrow as we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday and also his Canonization we have many Children's Rosary groups meeting.  I hope this will be a joy to him to see children gathering on a Feast he helped to establish praying the Rosary which was so dear to Him.  

The powerful intercession of Pope John Paul II has been ever present within the Children's Rosary. The Children’s Rosary book was written in large part on the Feast of Pope John Paul II and the book is dedicated to the Holy Trinity, Our Blessed Mother and in gratitude for the intercession of Pope John Paul II. 

Pope John Paul II in a special way we thank you and we ask for your prayers and blessing for all the members of the Children's Rosary and the prayer movement itself that we may bring a great many souls especially young people to Our Lord. Amen.

A Gift to Pope John Paul II

Last year on the Feast of Bl. Pope John Paul II, the majority of the Children's Rosary book was written.  The book was dedicated to the Holy Trinity, Our Blessed Mother and in thanksgiving for the intercession of Pope John Paul II.  One year later the Children's Rosary book is being printed in the print shop of the American School for the Deaf with the help of the students.  Our Lady finding the smallest and most vulnerable to help make the Children's Rosary book.  The books are shipped to EWTN Catalogue by my own children carried either by hand or with a red wagon to the post office.  Recently we were excited to have our first copies of the Spanish version of the Children's Rosary book available to order. Subsequently there have been efforts to begin a French translation. Tonight on the Feast of Bl Pope John Paul II there is a desire to give him a gift in thanksgiving. With his own canonization scheduled for Divine Mercy Sunday there is a hope and prayer that we might be able to finish a translation in Pope John Paul's native language of Polish by this beautiful day when he will be recognized as a Saint in Heaven.  If there is anyone who would like to assist in the proofing of the translation into Polish or French, a language Pope John Paul also spoke fluently, please contact Blythe at blythe.kaufman@gmail.com

Totus Tuus

"Totally Yours"

Totus Tuus was Pope John Paul's apostolic motto and is a Latin phrase meaning "totally yours" signifying his person consecration to Mary the Mother of God.  Pope John Paul II as a young seminarian read many times the work of St. Louis de Montfort: True Devotion to Mary.  It was within this book that he found the words Totus Tuus.  The complete prayer translated into English, "I belong entirely to you, and all that I have is yours.  I take you for my all. O Mary, give me your heart".

Today on the Feast of Bl. John Paul II there were several times when Pope John Paul's sentiments came to mind. As the sun was setting tonight there was a ring of the door bell.  Quickly there was the sound of small feet running.  There was an unexpected guest at the front door but given the Feast her arrival seemed perfectly timed. 

As I slowly came down the stairs there was a large box being carried in by my daughter.  Surprised by such a large box I wondered if it was really for us.  The children gathered around in excitement at what could be inside.  Upon opening the box the children found it was Our Lady of Fatima.  Among the stuffing a crown which they carefully placed on her head.  The statue was one of three sent to the Children's Rosary as a gift from a Catholic Store owner who had seen the recent Children's Rosary EWTN show and felt called to donate statues of Our Lady.  

It had been four months since the children had packaged a statue of Our Lady and carried her to the post office for a new Children's Rosary group in Timor Leste. 

On this Feast of Bl John Paul II who signed all his letters Totus Tuus ...it was a wonderful grace to find Our Lady unexpectedly at our door.  Pope John Paul has been a wonderful intercessor for the Children's Rosary and this beautiful gift arriving on his feast was just another example of Pope John Paul's tireless efforts to bring young people to Our Heavenly Mother and with her to her Son, Jesus.

JOIN US IN PRAYER

The Children's Rosary at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Hartford, CT USA will be meeting today at 4:00PM ET.  As today is the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross we hope many will feel moved to join the children in prayer either at the Church or from your home.  The children always pray for all those unifying their prayers with them.

Some weeks ago during a novena to Pope John Paul II, I happened on this picture of John Paul taken during his trip to the United States.  There was something so wonderful about this image.  As if the Holy Father was being supported by Our Crucified Lord and hence the whole Church rested on the strength of the Cross.  As Pope John Paul II so loved the Holy Rosary it is my prayer today that he will join us at 4PM in prayer of the Holy Rosary with Our Blessed Mother.   May we embrace Our Lord on the cross and hold Him to our own heart.  For Our Lord said when He was lifted up, He would draw all men to Himself.  On this beautiful Feast of the Triumph of the Cross may a great many souls today be brought to the loving embrace of Our Savior who so beautifully showed us His Love to the end.

Pope John Paul II to be Named a Saint

Our Beloved Pope John Paul II will soon be called a Saint!!! From the time of his death in 2005 crowds cheered, "Santo Subito"  (sainthood now) and those prayers have been heard and will be realized very soon according to the Vatican. 

Pope Francis announced on June 5th that Pope John Paul II would be canonized.  The date of the canonization has not been announced.

Pope John Paul II has always been a wonderful intercessor for the Children's Rosary.  The Children's Rosary book was written in large part on his Feast October 22, 2012.  The book is dedicated to the Holy Trinity, Our Blessed Mother and in gratitude for the intercession of Pope John Paul II.  As the Children's Rosary just finished our novena to the Holy Spirit for the fulfillment of God's Plan for the Children's Rosary and the Children's Rosary book on July 5th there is this wonderful reminder of the powerful intercessor we have in Pope John Paul II.  His love of Our Lady and and young people is felt so strongly even today 13 years after his death.  As one of the thousands of young people who traveled to World Youth Day in 1993 I feel in a way that his hand in the Children's Rosary began with the love and faith he shared with us. May I humbly suggest that on this First Saturday, a day in which we remember Our Lady, we might all begin a 9 day novena to Pope John Paul II.  Might we consider asking Pope John Paul to intercede for the Children's Rosary and our Children's Rosary book along with our families and the concerns we hold in our heart.  May we together pray this beautiful prayer each day for the next 9 days:

O Blessed Trinity, 

We thank You for having graced the Church with Pope John Paul II and for allowing the tenderness of your Fatherly care, the glory of the cross of Christ, and the splendor of the Holy Spirit, to shine through him. 

Trusting fully in Your infinite mercy and in the maternal intercession of Mary, he has given us a living image of Jesus the Good Shepherd and has shown us that holiness is the necessary measure of ordinary Christian life and is the way of achieving eternal communion with you. 

Grant us, by his intercession, and according to Your will, the graces we implore, hoping that he will soon be numbered among your saints.

Mass to be Offered for Members of the Children's Rosary Tomorrow

A Mass will be offered on June 25th by the Capuchin Friars for all the members of the Children's Rosary and all those who help the Children's Rosary.  We will continue to have Masses said for this intention on the 25th of each month. The Eucharist is such a powerful gift from Our Lord that when I wanted to thank all the members of the Children's Rosary and those that have helped us in so many beautiful ways I knew of no better way of saying thank you.

The Children's Rosary at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Hartford, CT USA to meet at 9:45 in the Upper Church.
The Children's Rosary at St. Thomas Church in Thomaston, CT USA to hold their weekly Children's Rosary at 11AM with a reception to follow provided by the Legions of Mary.

PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING THE CHILDREN IN PRAYER FROM YOUR HOME.  THE CHILDREN ALWAYS PRAY FOR THOSE UNIFYING THEIR PRAYERS WITH THEM.

"I myself have often encouraged the frequent recitation of the Rosary. From my youthful years this prayer has held an important place in my spiritual life. I was powerfully reminded of this during my recent visit to Poland, and in particular at the Shrine of Kalwaria. The Rosary has accompanied me in moments of joy and in moments of difficulty. To it I have entrusted any number of concerns; in it I have always found comfort. Twenty-four years ago, on 29 October 1978, scarcely two weeks after my election to the See of Peter, I frankly admitted: “The Rosary is my favourite prayer. A marvellous prayer!"

John Paul II, by a personally signed parchment, imparted a Special Apostolic Blessing "to all the faithful, who during Adoration of Our Most Merciful Savior in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Alter will be praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet for the sick and for those throughout the world who will be dying in that hour." Blessed John Paul II has established that on the solemnity of the Sacred Heart the Church will observe the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests. We are encouraged  to pray for our priests on this beautiful Feast of the Sacred Heart.
