Mass Offered on May 25th 2019 for the Members of the Children's Rosary

A Mass was offered for all the members of the Children's Rosary and all who help the Children's Rosary on May 25th. We continue to have a Mass said for the this intention on the 25th of each month. The Eucharist is such a powerful gift from Our Lord that when I wanted to extend thanksgiving to all of you I knew of no better way to express my gratitude.  May Our Lord's love be poured down on all of you through the powerful sacrifice of the Holy Mass.
The photo above is from the new Children's Rosary at St John's Parish in Youhannabad Lahore, Pakistan. Their first meeting was May 5th 2019. A large box of rosaries was sent to the new group and one can see the children each getting their own rosary.

Preparing a Soul to Receive Jesus for the First Time

It is an awesome task to prepare a soul to receive Jesus for the first time. The word awesome is being used in its original meaning not the slang meaning it has come to be associated. How does one adequately convey the grandeur of such a moment to a soul who may be as young as 7?

This month a photo was sent of two children who have been a part of the Children's Rosary for many years. They received First Holy Communion together but their mothers each lead Children's Rosary prayer groups at a different parishes. John's mom, Valerie, started one of our first Children's Rosary groups. It is located at St. Agnes Parish in Naples, Florida USA. Even though the family has moved to Ave Maria, Florida they have kept up their monthly Children's Rosary in Naples. When I asked Valerie how long John had participated in the Children's Rosary she said, "John's whole life!"

Sara's mother, Veronica, is the group leader at Ave Maria Parish in Ave Maria, Florida. Sara has been participating in the Children's Rosary over the past 4 years. As I looked at the picture they sent, it harkened to images we have seen of Jacinta and Francisco of Fatima. Little Sara has a scapular around her neck. The two children hold a picture of the Body and Blood of Christ surrounded by a Rosary. It is interesting that the Rosary is drawing all the attention to the Eucharist. A second picture was sent. It provided the wide shot of the children. They were not simply standing by a wall they were beneath Our Blessed Mother. I am reminded of my own son, a member of the Children's Rosary.  At his First Holy Communion when we were walking to the car to leave he asked us to wait and he ran around the outside of the Church to a statue of Our Lady to see her.

It is remarkable that the children who are part of the Children's Rosary seem to be drawn to be close to their Heavenly Mother on such a day as their First Holy Communion. They have spent time in prayer of the Rosary. Fifty three Hail Mary's are said in each Rosary. Each Hail Mary asks for the prayers and intercession of Mary. In faith we know Our Lady hears those prayers. Surely when these sweet children ask for Her prayers She does pray for them. For Sara and John, the majority of their life they have prayed the Rosary regularly in their Children's Rosary prayer group. Surely this time helps in the preparation for a soul to receive Our Lord.  It is a great comfort, as a parent, to see Our Lady watching over the preparation of our children to receive Our Lord for the first time. Our Lady, known also by the title Seat Of Wisdom, knows the best way to prepare a tender soul. We are so grateful Blessed Mother for your assistance for such an important task as preparing a young soul to receive Jesus for the first time. Thank you.

May 13th the Barrels Were Opened!

On May 13th, the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, the barrels we sent to Uganda were opened by customs officials.
It seemed a beautiful signal grace that these barrels sent so many months ago, which contained over 13,000 rosaries, were opened on Our Lady's Feast. One barrel had been packed in August 2018 and the other in October 2018. Fr. Richard, a priest from our parish originally from Uganda, had helped to take the two barrels to another location where they stayed for many months while the large shipping container was filled with other items destined for Uganda. When the shipping container was almost filled our barrels were added and then the container was loaded on a sea vessel.
News came this past week through Fr. Richard that the barrels had been opened on May 13th by customs officials. Fr. Richard's sister who was present when the barrels were opened related: "They saw the rosaries as well as the other items. Not sure what tax will be as they insisted to call them jewelry ?"
The customs people thought they were jewelry. They are not. However, I was not surprised by the officials first impression as I have always thought they looked like jewels and are actually invaluable to the souls who use them. We still do not know if a large tax will be issued to release the barrels. We humbly ask those reading this to say one Hail Mary that the the tax will not be too high and they will release the barrels soon.  In addition to over 13,000 rosaries, the barrels contain more than 1,000 Children's Rosary books. With our trip to Africa now 2 weeks away, we are looking forward to assisting in the distribution of the rosaries and books to the different Children's Rosary groups. We will be visiting 6 Dioceses in Uganda.

Children's Rosary Mother's Day Celebrations in Pakistan 2019

We received these pictures today from different Children's Rosary groups in Pakistan. The top picture is from the Children's Rosary in Ugu Chak. The children in a special way prayed for their mothers.
In Kotli Rate Wali, the children had little gifts they shared with their mothers. The Children's Rosary in Mosa Dugl made a cake. Each group honored their mothers in different ways and most importantly prayed for them.

We would like to wish all Mothers a Blessed Mother's Day

Our Lady is Crowned Many Times by the Children this Weekend

We share these pictures from the May crownings that were held this weekend at St. Peter Claver Parish in West Hartford, Connecticut USA and also St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in West Hartford, Connecticut.

At St. Peter Claver we had a tiny group to begin our Children's Rosary meeting. It was just our three children. Asher being the youngest, crowned Our Lady. We played the song Hail Holy Queen from our Children's Rosary Glorious Mysteries CD during the crowning. Following the crowning, we began the Rosary. But then there was a surprise...another family came! The Children's Rosary group leader from the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Waterbury Connecticut, came with her daughter Marianne. We were all thrilled to see them both. Marianne quickly took her place kneeling next to my kids. At the end of the Rosary, we decided to crown Our Lady again as Marianne was now the youngest child attending the Rosary. We again played Hail Holy Queen and sang along. Marianne very reverently placed the fresh rose crown on Our Lady's head.
Today we had our monthly Children's Rosary at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. We began the Children's Rosary with a crowning. This time it was little Ingrid who was our youngest child in attendance.

With the help of her older sister, she place the crown of flowers on Mary's head. She promptly ran back to her mom saying "I did it". She was very pleased with herself. We had two boys who were making their first communion today join us for the crowning and part of the Rosary. We felt it was a tremendous grace for them to have this time in prayer before they had to line up for Mass. We prayed in a special way for them.

This little crown of roses was placed many times on Our Lady's head. Roses were also placed at Her feet at the end of the decades of the Rosary. We did small things but we trust they have great meaning to Our Lady and also to the children. These little experiences, such as Crowning Mary, create memories for these children that last a lifetime. One might reflect on if you ever participated in a Crowning of Mary as a child. Do you remember the day? Most look back fondly on such memories. These experiences allow the roots of faith to go deeper in the soul and help to anchor us in the knowledge that we have a Heavenly Mother who loves us.

When a Person Falls in Love with Jesus

On Sunday, Tran, a member of the Children's Rosary will travel to Bein Hoa to visit a leper community. These people, he explained, have been shunned due to their illness and live together in a community of approximately 100 people. Tran and other members of the Children's Rosary have visited this community before and shared food with them and also prayed with them. To celebrate the Easter season, Tran plans to bring noodles, canned food and fruit to share with these people who suffer and live in great poverty.

As today is the Feast of St. Damian, who ministered to the lepers in Hawaii, I could not help but see the beautiful connection. It is a common love of Jesus which brings these souls to see past the exterior and share love to their neighbors.

Tran is a teenager and despite his young age he has helped begin many Children's Rosary prayer groups in his native country of Vietnam. It is love that draws him to do all that he does.  He is a witness of the fruits that come when a person falls in love with Jesus. It is our hope through the Children's Rosary that many children will fall in love with Our Lord.

The pictures included in this post are from prior visits Tran has made to this leper community to help them.

St. Damian pray for us. Amen

Barrels Arrive in Uganda - God's Providence Never Fails in Its Designs

Yesterday on our website we announced the upcoming trip to Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Unbeknownst to us, yesterday was also the day the two barrels we sent filled with rosaries arrived in Uganda. The first of these two barrels we sent in August of last year the second in October. We knew that transport by ship would take a long time but many factors delayed these barrels far longer then anyone predicted. In total, the two barrels contain 13,152 rosaries. We also sent over 1,000 Children's Rosary books. At the time we sent the barrels we had no idea we would be traveling to Africa and we never could have foreseen that we would be the ones to pack the barrels and also help in unpacking them.

It is estimated that it will take one or two weeks for the barrels to pass through the customs check. The tentative plan is that these barrels will be brought to Mityana which is our first stop when we visit Uganda. In this way, we can help carry some of these materials to the different Children's Rosary groups we visit in various dioceses throughout Uganda.

Indeed the timing of the arrival of these barrels is providential. They arrive during Our Lady's month of May and in perfect timing for the visit to Uganda. Praise God for arranging things so beautifully.

Upcoming Trip to Kenya,Tanzania and Uganda!

Dear Friends,
Recently we shared that 13 schools in Uganda have begun School-wide Children's Rosary groups involving over 3,000 children. A new Children's Rosary group was also begun in Thithia School in Kenya. Thus far the news of these new groups has been coming through priests and group leaders. We are excited to share that there is a trip planned to visit Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda this June.

While we will not be able to visit all the Children's Rosary groups in these countries given the vast distances that in some cases separate groups, we will be visiting many. In Uganda, we will be visiting 5 Dioceses. In Kenya we will travel to Sultan Hamud a relatively rural area outside of Nairobi. From this location, which is home to the Maasai tribe, we will go several hours distance to a remote place where new Children's Rosary groups have formed near Tsavo National Park. We will then drive into Tanzania and visit Children's Rosary groups in Arusha, Moshi and the area around Lake Chala. From Tanzania we will drive back into Kenya to visit Children's Rosary groups in Mombasa and Malindi. Some of the children involved with the Children's Rosary in Malindi, Kenya are shown in the two pictures featured with this post. We also look forward to meeting Fr. Martin, Sr. Angelina and Sr. Irene who are shown with the children below. Our trip will begin on June 3rd, the Feast of the Ugandan Martyrs, and we will leave Africa on the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, June 26th.

Some of you may be aware that I have a genetic disability that among many things affects joints. Due to a collagen defect which causes instability of the joints, I can not longer drive or even do simple things like open a door or life a glass full of water. Travel is extremely difficult. Yet in prayer, the Lord has opened my heart to the idea of going to Africa. There is a peace and confidence about this trip and surprisingly my heart has no fear about the many unknowns. I do humbly ask for your prayers as our family makes this long journey to a place very far from our home in Connecticut USA. We look forward to sharing what we see and experience through our blog. So please follow along with us. We will carry you in our hearts. Some regions do not have internet connections so we surely will have more complete reports coming when we get back but we will try when possible to provide updates along the way.

Thank you friends for your support.
United in prayer

Your Friend in Christ,
Blythe

Two Years Ago Today on May 1st 2017

On May 1st 2017 the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker and the first day of Our Lady's month of May, the Children's Rosary received a gift. EWTN featured the Children's Rosary on two shows. Nuestra Fe en Vivo aired a program on the Children's Rosary in Spanish. Host Pepe Alonso interviewed, Asher Kaufman age 10, a member of the Children's Rosary. If you have not had a chance to see this interview it is very special. The link is HERE.
At Home with Jim and Joy also featured a program that highlighted the Children's Rosary.

Many beautiful fruits came through those airings and we would like to thank God, Our Lady and the people at EWTN for their kindness to help spread the Children's Rosary. For those who may not have seen the programs links to both are provided below:
