Words From the Children Wednesday

Drawing done by Kostin age 9 one of the members of
the Children's Rosary in West Hartford, Connecticut
Admittedly this is a bit late for a Wednesday posting but I was waiting for a little artist to finish a grand piece of work.  Well at least in size it stands pretty tall about 2 feet high.  The drawing is a combination of cut outs and layering of drawings on a large poster board.  As we celebrated Epiphany this week it seemed a perfect time to highlight the 3 Kings making their way to the Baby Jesus.  Of particular note is the large star over the manger.

For those of you living in Canada or Northern United States we may have something special to see in the sky as well.  I am told there may be a wonderful Aurora Borealis tonight so please look low on the horizon.

The Children's Rosary at St. Mary's School in Orange, Texas will meet tomorrow morning(Friday January 10th) at 7:05 AM Central Time.  Please consider joining the children in prayer from your home.  The children always pray for those unifying prayers with them.

Word's From the Children Wednesday

ANSWERING THE QUESTION:
WHAT DOES THE NATIVITY MEAN TO YOU?

Recently we received some drawings from a beautiful little family from Pennsylvania USA.  Their mom shared in the note that all five of her children (ages 20 months - 8 years) love their new Children's Rosary group which met for the first time on Dec 1st 2013.  Their parish is St. Bernard's in Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania.  We were so blessed to receive 3 drawings from this family.
"God loved us a Lot" by Silvana age 8

"God Cares for Us" by Dominic age 6

By Antonin age 4

A special thank you to Silvana, Dominic and Antonin for their beautiful drawings.

To all members of the Children's Rosary please keep sending in your drawings.  For more information about our efforts to highlight drawings from the children answering the question: what do the mysteries of the Rosary mean to them click here. Words From the Children Wednesdays

Recently we introduced a new weekly highlight on the Children's Rosary Blog: Words from the Children Wednesdays. As the Children's Rosary is a prayer movement composed of children and led by children we have begun to highlight some of the beautiful feedback we have been getting from the children from our different Children's Rosary groups.

This week we are featuring a picture from a 13 year old member of the Children's Rosary from West Hartford, Connecticut USA.  As tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in the United States it seemed a perfect time to highlight this drawing.

At every Children's Rosary intentions are placed before the children praying.  Intentions that  are given to the Children's Rosary are compiled on a sheet and sent to each group leader prior to the meeting.  The last line on our intention sheet is always one of Thanksgiving.  Over the last several months the Lord has continued to shower blessings by bringing the most wonderful people to the Children's Rosary.  New groups have formed and from them others.  Families and children have come to many different Children's Rosary groups offering Our Lady bouquets of prayers to bring before Our Lord.  Today we thank God and attach are prayers to those of the children and ask that these loving prayers of thanksgiving float to the very Throne of God. Amen.

ANSWERING THE QUESTION:

This week we are featuring a picture from a 9 year old member of the Children's Rosary from West Hartford, Connecticut USA.  As the month of November is dedicated to the Holy Souls it seemed a perfect time to highlight this drawing.

What is particularly special about this drawing is this child's faith that a single child kneeling in prayer of the Rosary can help to bring a great many souls to heaven.  It is this simple and beautiful trust that surely must be so pleaseing to Our Lord who so loves these dear souls in purgatory and takes such pleasure in seeing a little one praying for them.

All of our Children's Rosary groups include in their petitions the souls in purgatory.
A special thank you for all of the drawings and notes which have been submitted from the children. Please continue to send them in.  Thank you all and God Bless!

Words From the Children Wednesday

Recently we introduced a new weekly highlight on the Children's Rosary Blog: Words from the Children Wednesdays. As the Children's Rosary is a prayer movement composed of children and led by children we would like to begin highlighting some of the beautiful feedback we have been getting from the children from our different Children's Rosary groups.

This week I received this picture from one of our Children's Rosary group leaders from Syracuse, New York. It is such a special note written by Lauren age 7.  How beautiful that a priest's trip to Fatima would result in him sharing a rosary with a grandmother and the rosary finding its way to little hands who now use the Rosary in prayer.  Our Lady has been calling our children to prayer and to see the children responding so beautifully to this call brings a welling of hope to the soul.

I encourage children to continue to send us their drawings or notes.  Hearing from our children is so inspiring.

Thank you so much!

As the Children's Rosary is a prayer movement composed of children and led by children we would like to begin highlighting some of the beautiful feedback we have been getting from the children from our different Children's Rosary groups.

Recently I reached out to the different Children's Rosary groups and asked for their help.  The Children's Rosary had a booth at the Catholic Marketing Network(CMN) Trade Show in New Jersey USA from August 7th-9th.  It was our hope that the children could provide the voice of the movement by creating visuals and phrases to briefly describe WHY THE CHILDREN'S ROSARY IS IMPORTANT.

The pictures have been coming in by mail from all over the country.  They were all so beautiful in their own unique way it seemed like a perfect way to begin our Words From the Children Wednesdays.  More beautiful original artwork to come over the upcoming weeks.  Please if you are a child and would like to submit a picture or message see our
contact information and send it in.  We will be featuring them here.

The drawing above was done by Grace age 7 from Thomaston, Connecticut USA.  Grace is a member of the Children's Rosary at St. Thomas Church. Their group has chosen to meet weekly after the Sunday Mass. Grace's picture beautifully captures how much love she feels for the Rosary. No one can mistake the joy behind this drawing.  How pleasing must the prayers that come from this small soul be to Our Lord who waits patiently for these little ones to come to Him.

On these last days of October, a month dedicated to the Rosary, may we rejoice that there are children that have made their way to Our Lady and the Rosary and have found such love and comfort through these beautiful prayers. Amen.

The drawing above was done by Thomas age 8.    Thomas' answer beautifully shows us how a child feels about prayer and specifically prayer of the Holy Rosary with other children.

Prayer of the Holy Rosary strengthens our children in faith and the virtues.  Each mystery of the Rosary has a fruit associated with it.  The first glorious mystery brings an increase in faith.  The second glorious mystery hope and the third love of God.  The fruit of the second Sorrowful Mystery is purity.  As a parent one struggles with how to raise a child in faith while also protecting them from the harshness of the world.   It is such a consolation to know that through prayer of the Rosary our children are strengthened spiritually and their innocence protected when from so many directions this virtue is threatened today.  Little Thomas is like many little boys his age he loves sports which keeps his body strong but his time in prayer with Our Lady and her Son strengthen him too from the inside.  Both are important.

Thomas and his younger brother Matthew age 5 are helping to start a new Children's Rosary at their parish: St. Peter Claver in West Hartford, CT USA.  Their first meeting will be held on Saturday October 12th at 4PM.

We thank Thomas for his efforts to spread the Children's Rosary and for his inspirational drawing.

The drawing above was done by Hernán, Jr. age 13.  Hernán helped start a Children's Rosary with his family at the Parish of St. Francis of Assisi in South Windsor, CT USA.  I am told from his mother that Hernán worked very hard on this drawing and took much care in every part of it.  It is an echoing response from many of the children that they feel closer to Jesus through participation in the Children's Rosary and prayer of the Holy Rosary.  In these days when so often our children are drawn toward many earthly things it is so wonderful to see a young person drawn closer to Our Lord. This beautiful drawing also contains another element of the Children's Rosary which is so important to all of us.  These prayers of children call down from Heaven Mercy upon the whole human race.

Hernán's mother, who originally is from Puerto Rico, has recently helped in the translation of the Children's Rosary book which will be available to order in approximately 2 weeks.

Thank you Hernán for your inspirational drawing!

The drawing above was done by Konstantin age 9 who is a member of the Children's Rosary at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Hartford, CT USA.  His answer at first blush seems to be the most obvious answer to the question.  The Children's Rosary teaches children how to pray.  However, as I spent some time reflecting on this picture I realized that in this rather simple answer there were some beautiful mysteries.  The part that really struck me is how this child felt that he was being taught how to pray.  His teacher as is depicted in the picture is Our Blessed Mother.  She has brought him to the foot of the Cross to pray to her Son.  So often people speak of the Rosary as a Marian prayer but Pope John Paul II spoke of the Rosary as Christ centered and here in the simple drawing by a child we see the beautiful mystery of the Holy Rosary. Our Lady is praying with our children but she is always guiding them to her Son.

As the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross is this week it seemed a wonderful day to highlight Konstantin's drawing which so beautifully shows us how the Rosary is always a circle that ends at the Cross with Our Lady by our side.

The drawing above was done by Asher age 6 who is a member of the Children's Rosary.  His words are simple.  But what more could our Heavenly Father want from us then to approach Him as a small child full of love.  The church which little Asher so beautifully drew aglow with warm light is so fitting as the more children we bring to Our Lord in prayer the brighter Our Church will shine.  The Children's Rosary is a humble way to bring our dear children to Our Lord under the watchful eye of Our Blessed Mother in the prayer of the Holy Rosary.

A special thank you to Asher for an open heart full of love for Mary and Jesus.

As the month of August is dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary the picture seemed to beautifully show how the children love Our Lady so much and wish to honor her.

A special thank you to Matthew for such a beautiful drawing of Our Lady and her heart.

The drawing above was done by Emma age 11 who is a member of the Children's Rosary at St. Thomas Church in Thomaston, CT USA.  (This is also the Parish where Ven. Father McGivney who founded the Knights of Columbus was assigned during his short life).

Emma helped begin the Children's Rosary at St Thomas Parish with her  grandmother.  They have chosen to hold their meetings weekly which has been a tremendous blessing for the group.

Tomorrow we celebrate the Queenship of Mary and Emma's picture seemed to beautifully honor Our Mother Mary who is Queen of Heaven and Earth. The Children's Rosary helps to bring our Children to Our Heavenly Mother and through the prayers of the Rosary a true love develops within the children for their Blessed Mother.  It is a beautiful thing to see in our sweet children.

A special thank you to Emma for her inspiring drawing.

God Bless you all!

The drawing above was done by Vera age 8 who helped to begin the Children's Rosary at St. Joseph Church in Adrian, Michigan USA with her mother and siblings.   As this week we celebrate the Assumption of Mary it seemed fitting to feature one of the pictures which honors Our Mother. Who better to help our children reach her Son then Our Blessed Mother.  Who would want to be separated from her.  It is with her Rosary that she keeps a tight and protective hold on our children anchoring them always to the cross and her Son.

Answering the Question:
Why is the Children's Rosary Important
Last week we introduced a new weekly highlight on the Children's Rosary Blog: Words from the Children Wednesdays. As the Children's Rosary is a prayer movement composed of children and led by children we would like to begin highlighting some of the beautiful feedback we have been getting from the children from our different Children's Rosary groups.

Recently I reached out to the different Children's Rosary groups and asked for their help.  The Children's Rosary will be at the Catholic Marketing Network(CMN) Trade Show in New Jersey USA from August 7th-9th and will have a booth.  As the prospect of creating visuals for the booth seemed daunting and expensive Our Lady brought a wonderful inspiration: ask the children to provide the artwork.  The Children were asked to briefly describe WHY THE CHILDREN'S ROSARY IS IMPORTANT.

The drawing above was done by Emily age 8 who helped begin a Children's Rosary with her younger sister at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Hartford, CT USA.

Please excuse that this is published on Tuesday but we are all packing up today to head to the CMN Trade show in NJ USA and I was worried we wouldn't have the ability to post it tomorrow.
