Children's Rosary from West Chicago Completes Consecration Journey

The Children's Rosary prayer group at St Mary's Church in West Chicago USA made a 33 Day Consecration journey to Jesus through Mary. The Consecration day they chose was October 7 which is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Approximately 100 people completed the Consecration and 50 of these were children and their families. They used our book Child Consecration: To Jesus through Mary—Following in the Spirit of St. Thérèse, the Little Flower. Many used our Spanish version of the book. On Consecration day, those making the journey gathered for recitation of the Consecration prayers, the Rosary and Mass.

As is suggested in the book, children and families brought flowers as a gift to Our Blessed Mother. 

They also had miraculous medals blessed at the event and each person received one from the priest, Fr. Andrew. 

As the Consecration journey was made using the book 
Child Consecration: To Jesus through Mary—Following in the Spirit of St. Thérèse, the Little Flower statues of St. Therese were present. 

The group leader of the Children's Rosary at St. Mary's Church in West Chicago shared in Spanish, "Our Consecration was on October 7th, the day of Our Lady of the Rosary, under the direction of Father Andrew. Around 100 people were Consecrated, including about 50 children and their families. There are no words to describe this moment, it was beautiful, full of peace."

The West of Ireland Covered in Snow

On November 21, the Feast of the Presentation of Mary, the west of Ireland was blanketed with snow. Some areas receiving 5 inches of snow. The timing of this snowfall seemed heaven-sent. Two mothers who were part of a large Consecration journey led by Fr. Marius O'Reilly of Cork. The 33 Day Consecration journey utilized the book Child Consecration: To Jesus through Mary—Following in the Spirit of St. Thérèse, the Little Flower. As the Feast of the Presentation fell on a school day, both mothers were wondering and praying how they could get their children to Mass and Confession on Consecration day. The blanket of snow answered those prayers. School was canceled this day only, but the roads were still passable, and both families were able to make their Consecration, attend Mass, and also go to Confession. 

The two pictures above were taken at the Knock shrine on November 21. Interestingly the prior year there had been no snow days in this region where school had been canceled. Such a snow fall in November in the west of Ireland is unusual. There was even enough snow to make a snowman.

Our family were very blessed to be consecrated to Jesus through Mary using the Child Consecration, following the spirit of St Thérèse.
It is beautifully written in a way that is easy to understand for both adults and children.
The day of consecration for us was on the feast of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary in the Temple. It was a very appropriate feast day especially because our children were being consecrated so it was as if we (parents) were presenting our children to God at the temple also.
Providentially we had a snow day on November 21st (unusual for Ireland to get snow at that time of year) so schools were closed and we all got to Mass and confession on the day! (Karen Clancy)

Upcoming Consecration Journey in the Diocese of Derry, Ireland

We are excited to share that Bishop Donal McKeown of the Derry Diocese in Northern Ireland will be using the book Child Consecration: To Jesus through Mary—Following in the Spirit of St. Thérèse, the Little Flower for himself and his Diocese beginning January 9, 2025. In anticipation of the Consecration journey, Bishop McKeown plans to invite the faithful of his diocese to join him at the two day St. Bernadette of Lourdes relic visit October 13 and 14. The timing seemed extra special as the Consecration journey for his diocese will end on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. Making a Consecration Journey to Jesus through Mary in the Spirit of St Thérèse

The book approaches Consecration using the "Little Way" of St. Thérèse, which includes a spirituality of simplicity, confidence and trust.

Consecration Journey in Edinburgh and St. Andrews Archdiocese

 

Archbishop Leo Cushley of the Archdiocese of Edinburgh and St. Andrews, Scotland, has been using our book Child Consecration: To Jesus through Mary—Following in the Spirit of St. Thérèse, the Little Flower for himself and has invited the Archdiocese of Edinburgh and St. Andrews in Scotland to join him. The journey began on September 4 and will conclude on October 7, the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. At least seventeen schools and two parishes were committed to join the journey. Please consider making a 33 Day Consecration Journey. It is a perfect way to start the New Year. The Consecration ends on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes: February 11. Our Lady's Victory Garden

 

Today we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. For many years this feast day honored Our Lady under the title of Our Lady of Victory. For indeed Our Lady through the Rosary and her powerful intercession leads us to Victory. For many years we have had a vegetable garden in our yard. Our family and especially our kids worked very hard tending the garden. Yet we saw almost no yield from the garden. But then last year we enclosed the garden with wire. It is entirely enclosed with a door in the front. No critters can gain entry. This year we have been overwhelmed with the harvest that in prior years had gone to the squirrels that patrolled our garden. 

Many are finishing a 33 Day Consecration journey to Jesus through Mary today. In the Archdiocese of Hartford, Connecticut Archbishop Blair and the Shepherds of the Diocese have been leading a Consecration using the book Child Consecration: To Jesus through Mary—Following in the Spirit of St. Thérèse, the Little Flower. In many ways Our Lady's Victory Garden is a great image for gardening after Consecration. Through Our Lady's protection we now have a bounty of vegetables. She has protected them. Indeed there is still work to be done in the garden but it far less and the work that is done yields fruits that remain and are not taken.

Consecration Led by Shepherds of the Archdiocese of Hartford Starts September 4, 2021

Bishop Rhoades Begins Consecration to Jesus through Mary September 4, 2021

Bishop Rhoades will be using the book Child Consecration: To Jesus through Mary—Following in the Spirit of St. Thérèse, the Little Flower for his own personal Consecration beginning September 4, 2021. The schools and faith formation programs of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, Indiana have been invited to participate in the 33 Day Consecration to Jesus through Mary. The journey concludes on October 7: the Feast of the Holy Rosary.

A Treasure

 

Dear Friends,

Today marks the end of the first week of the Consecration being led by Bishop Johns Keenan of Scotland. The evenings have been, put simply, a treasure. Each night at 9PM local time in Scotland Bishop Keenan comes to speak to us by candle light. As one of our Shepherds, he calls us, the flock, to draw near to him. With joy he has led us in prayer and reflection through the first week of our 33 Day journey. As the book begins with an allegory, Bishop Keenan has used the daily readings in the book and the allegory as a foundation by which he can share yet some of his personal stories to help us understand even more deeply. In many ways, it feels as though we are one of the early apostles drawing close at the fire to hear Our Lord explain all He wishes to teach us. To have a Bishop who so loves Our Lord and Our Lady want to be with us in such a personal way is heart warming. One of the people wrote last night in the comment section "Thank you Bishop John. Its been a long time since I have felt so peaceful and loved before going to sleep."

Happy Birthday St. Thérèse!

January 2nd is the Birthday of St. Thérèse the Little Flower.

Spending time contemplating the birth of Our Lord this year, I was brought to meditate on the incredible simplicity and trust of Mary and Joseph. This simplicity of spirit is something that St. Thérèse embraced and witnessed beautifully throughout her life. To grow in simplicity, confidence, and trust is surely pleasing to Our Lord who gave to us these wonderful role models in the Holy Family and St. Thérèse, who is a Doctor of the Church. The recently released book, Child Consecration: To Jesus through Mary—Following in the Spirit of St. Thérèse, the Little Flower, approaches Consecration through a lens of spirituality identified by St. Thérèse that helps a soul grow in those beautiful virtues of simplicity, confidence, and trust. 

Bishop Keenan of Scotland has chosen to use the book Child Consecration: To Jesus through Mary—Following in the Spirit of St. Thérèse, the Little Flower for his personal Consecration this year.  He will be beginning this journey January 9th and concluding on February 11th: the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. He is inviting priests, adults, and children to join him in this Consecration journey. This is a very personal invitation from one of our Shepherds to his diocese and beyond. 

There is something very timely about finishing the Consecration journey on a Marian Feast that honors Our Lady under a title most often associated with healing. There is great need for both spiritual and physical healing today. 

Bishop Keenan plans to do the prayers and readings of the 33 Day Consecration LIVE each night on his Facebook page. He will read them at 9PM local time in Scotland which would be 4PM ET. This would allow many in the US and around the world to pray along with him. In a special way, he is inviting priests, adults, and children to join him. He has already invited the schools of his diocese to join him, and 12 schools have already responded that they will be doing the Consecration. 

We hope many will consider joining Bishop Keenan on this Consecration journey to Jesus through Mary, following in the spirit of St. Thérèse, the Little Flower.

Consecration to Jesus Through Mary January 1st 2017

Today we completed our Consecration journey.  We thank those of you who joined us in the 33 Day preparation to personal Consecration to Jesus through Mary.  For my children and I this was a re-Consecration Day.  We do it yearly along with other members of the Children's Rosary that want to participate.

As Mass came to and end the final song that was sung was Gentle Women.  Hearing the song I smiled as this was the song that was sung when my children made their Consecration on January 1st 2014. I always have very special memories from that day. One of the families who is part of the Children's Rosary who had been present on January 1st 2014 was also there today and also smiled to hear the same song sung.

In prayer leading up to Our Lady's Feast a little idea came.  As we recently released the French translation of the Children's Rosary book and released our new website maybe we should take this opportunity to Consecrate these new materials to Jesus through Mary on January 1 2017!  So today we gathered not only our new little book but all our materials and brought them to Mass.  We not only wanted to Consecrate ourselves to Jesus through Mary but also all that we have. The children arranged everything before the Holy Family which seemed fitting as today is the Feast honoring Mary as Mother.  We prayed our Consecration prayer and also gave everything to Our Lady that we could not carry such as the new websites. We read the Consecration prayer to the Sacred Heart as well.  In this way everything is under the protection of Christ and His Mother.
