Thy Commandments

And the LORD said to Moses, "Go down; for your people, whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves”.(Exodus 32:7)

Moses
Just a brief reflection from yesterday’s first reading.  Fr. Sam had a wonderful insight into this reading.  He asked us all if we have met people who say they have their own spirituality.  They are not “religious” but are spiritual.  We all nodded our heads that we knew people like this.  These people as he pointed out create their own practices, their own rituals, their own inner prayers.  They do not attend formalized services.  This is akin to saying we don’t want to obey God we want God to obey us.  We have created our own rules that God must accommodate to. When one realizes how this must be received by God it seems ridiculous to think that God would be pleased when his rules are disregarded.  It is not much different from the Israelites who after being delivered out of Egypt made a golden calf and worshiped it.  Despite the diverse practices of many I leave all judgement to the Lord.  For even when the Israelites resumed praying to their idols the Lord’s anger was quickly replaced by his Mercy.  Therefore we must joyfully live the messages of the Gospel for “the Lord is kind and merciful slow to anger and rich in love”.(Psalm 145:8)

Lord please teach all who belong to the Children's Rosary to keep through pure love, Thy Commandments, whose way is wide and easy for those who love Thee. Amen
