Several years ago we became aware of a lovely Colombian Tradition: the Day of the Little Candles. On the eve of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception lanterns are set out with candles inside. The lanterns often depict Our Blessed Mother. Three years ago the Children's Rosary participated for the first time in this tradition by making lanterns. We have continued this tradition and again set out lanterns Sunday evening. There was a strong wind so occasionally our lanterns would take flight but it was beautiful to see them arranged around Our Blessed Mother.
For those of you who may like to participate next year we have posted step by step instructions of how to make these lanterns.
The Children's Rosary® is a prayer group movement that was begun out of love for Our Lady and Her Son. Jesus tells us "Truly, I say to you unless you turn and become like children you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven" (Matthew 18:3). The Children's Rosary is an effort to begin in parishes rosary prayer groups composed of children and led by children. Through prayer of the Rosary Our Lady will guide our young people while at the same time sanctify families and Parishes.
