Prayer for the Canonization of Archbishop Fulton Sheen

Prayer for Canonization
Heavenly Father, source of all holiness, You raise up within the Church in every age men and women who serve with heroic love and dedication. You have blessed Your Church through the life and ministry of Your faithful servant, Archbishop Fulton J Sheen. He has written and spoken well of Your Divine Son, Jesus Christ, and was a true instrument of the Holy Spirit in touching the hearts of countless people.
If it be according to Your Will, for the honor and glory of the Most Holy Trinity and for the salvation of souls, we ask You to move the Church to proclaim him a saint. We ask this prayer through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Background
Fulton John Sheen was born on May 8th 1895 in El Paso, Illinois. He had three younger brothers and spent much of his youth in Peoria, IL where his parents were farmers.  His parents emphasized the importance of hard work and were a devote Catholic family. Fulton and his brothers went to parochial school and Fulton was also an alter boy.  The family attended Church regularly and prayed the rosary nightly as a family.

Sheen entered the seminary in Minnesota and was ordained on September 20th 1919.  Sheen went on to become an Archbishop and was known by many for his television series "Life is Worth Living". In 1951 Sheen designed the World Mission Rosary.

Pope John Paul II said of Archbishop Sheen during their meeting in 1979, "You have spoken well of the Lord Jesus. You have been a loyal son of the Church!"

Archbishop Sheen was raised to the state of "Venerable" on June 28th 2012.
