Mass Offered on February 25th 2018 for the Members of the Children's Rosary

A Mass was offered today for all the members of the Children's Rosary and all who help the Children's Rosary.  We continue to have a Mass said for the this intention on the 25th of each month. The Eucharist is such a powerful gift from Our Lord that when I wanted to extend thanksgiving to all of you I knew of no better way to express my gratitude.  May Our Lord's love be poured down on all of you through the powerful sacrifice of the Holy Mass.

The picture above are members of the Children's Rosary in Nicaragua. We recently received a note from one of the group leaders in Nicaragua sharing that 9 new Children's Rosary groups were forming in Ticuantepe. She said each of the nine group are comprised of at least eight children in each group. She was in need of Children's Rosary books in Spanish and more Rosaries. This past month we sent a large box to Nicaragua with Children's Rosary books and Rosaries. We are grateful to those who continue to support these efforts. If there are those who would like to sponsor a shipment to a new group we would be most grateful. It is only through many hands that we can continue to reach children throughout the world. Top 10 Favorite Posts from 2017

This past year was full of blessings for the Children's Rosary.  As many may just be discovering the Children's Rosary we would like to share some of the journey this past year. We have seen new Children's Rosary groups forming in different parts of the United States and also other countries such as Argentina, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, Russia, Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Italy, Venezuela, Mexico and Colombia. There has also been extensive spread of the Children's Rosary in countries where we already had a presence such as in Uganda, Pakistan, Kenya, Vietnam, Tanzania, Philippines and the United States.

One of the areas we have seen the largest spread is within Spanish speaking communities. The interview by Asher (age 10) on Nuestra Fe en Vivo on EWTN helped to introduce the Children's Rosary to many throughout the world that spoke Spanish. This year we were able to visit Mexico and visit and pray with one of the new Children's Rosary prayer groups. This was an incredible joy!

The Children's Rosary received a special gift this year. We were invited to hold a Children's Rosary during Divine Mercy Sunday at the National Shrine of Divine Mercy. The children were able to lead approximately 20,000 pilgrims in prayer. The Rosary was led by children in both English and Spanish. The children also sung our theme song "Rosary Children" with the pilgrims.
In addition to praying and singing with the children, the pilgrims were able to hear a talk during the field show about the Children's Rosary. The talk can be heard HERE. It is a brief history of how the Children's Rosary began and a glimpse into the fruits that are flowing through this international prayer group movement. Praise God a multitude of people throughout the crowd approached us following the Rosary seeking information about the Children's Rosary with hopes they could bring it back to their hometown and country. (Images from Divine Mercy Sunday can be seen in the photo directly below and at the top of this post.)
This being the 100th Anniversary of Fatima we saw a historic event unfold. Children's Rosary materials were brought by hand first to Fatima and then carried directly to Russia in the spring of 2017. In October of 2017 the first meeting of the Children's Rosary was held in Russia!

Two thousand seventeen brought the release of our Children's Rosary Joyful Mysteries CD. Included along with the Rosary led by the children was an original song called "Catherine of Siena". To Learn More Click HERE.

We received a beautiful gift from EWTN this year. We received this note:
"Our Poor Clares will offer a Day of Prayer for you and your family and all the families and children involved in the Children's Rosary. It will be on September 29th, Feast of the Holy Archangels. The nuns will offer their rosary, holy hour and all the prayers and good works of the day for all of you". This was an unexpected gift but one for which we are most grateful.

Another highlight from this year was the release of our new Children's Rosary video called: A View From Heaven. The video is an invitation to individuals from around the world to unify prayers from their homes with the children praying in their Children's Rosary prayer groups.

To watch the Video in English click HERE.

To watch the Video in Spanish click HERE.

Individuals who would like to add their twinkling gold light to the View from Heaven map can do so on any one of our three websites: www.childrensrosary.org also available in Spanish (www.rosariodeninos.org) and French (www.rosairedesenfants.org).

The Children's Rosary also participated in several events which have become a yearly tradition. The Children's Rosary was invited this past year to participate in the Global Rosary Relay for Priests on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  Many children unified prayers with Shrines across the globe praying for our priests.  We also continued our Advent tradition of inviting individuals and families to place Patiently Waiting signs in their windows so those around them might know where their hearts can be found in the time approaching Christmas. This year we had people sending in pictures of their Patiently Waiting signs from such countries as Italy, Vietnam and the Philippines.

One of the most precious gifts this year were all the groups who celebrated their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th year anniversaries.  With many new groups forming, it is easy to focus on the "new" groups but one must never forget the faithfulness in prayer that so many children and group leaders carry in their hearts.  The world may question why such sacrifices are needed.  When obstacles present themselves and hard times come there are a thousand reasons to give up.  Yet despite all this, groups continue to meet.  This faithfulness creates the grace that allows this prayer group movement to continue to spread... to reach deeper and further.  It is for this reason that postings continue.  For it is in sharing the blessings that are coming that we see the fruits of so much sacrifice.  These graces we are not owed, yet Our Lord in His goodness showers them down upon us. We must not hide our light but share it and so the posts continue.

The list below of posts are my favorites. In some cases they represent events, or blessings and others struggles we have passed through.  I humbly thank you all for joining us on this journey. Thank you for your prayers, Masses offered, sacrifices made with the goal of bringing our little ones to prayer and in doing so help to strengthen not only the faith of our children but also our families and parishes.

Recumbent Snowman

This weekend we had a snow storm and my husband took the kids out for some sledding. Over the years we have featured many snowmen that have resulted from the creativity of kids. Usually these snowmen are static...today was different. The kids had built a snowman which they took for a sled ride. My husband called him a "recumbent snowman".

Recently, I have been coming to understand that there is great grace that comes through just spending time as a family. Prayer has an important place but there must also be times when the family comes together to simply have fun. Last Monday my husband took a day off from work. The sole purpose was just for us to spend time as a family. He called it: Family Day. We spent the morning at a place where you can paint pottery. We worked on two projects. Alina and I worked on a platter together with the logo of the Children's Rosary. We plan to use it on the upcoming 7 year anniversary of the Children's Rosary. We have a breakfast planned at  our parish to celebrate the day and we hope to put food on it for the children. Together we also worked on a plate for Passover. In the afternoon we went bowling. Given my disability with my joints I could not bowl but I was happy to watch and cheer on the rest of the family. Later in the week, I happened to be looking at the calendar that was given out at Church. On February 12th it said Family Day  (British Columbia, Canada). That was the exact day we had our Family Day.  In seeing this on the calendar it was a confirmation of all that Our Lord and Our Lady seemed to be showing us. There is great grace available through just spending time together as a family.

Happy Feast of St. Bernadette

Today is the Feast of St. Bernadette Soubirous. My daughter drew this picture of St. Bernadette with a Rosary around her. I recall when I was a child my mom first mentioned St. Bernadette as she was talking about her Confirmation. Saint Bernadette was the patron saint she chose. Later I would learn more about St. Bernadette. She exemplified many virtues that we as parents would love to cultivate in our children. St. Bernadette had a faith that sustained her through many challenges during the early days of the apparitions in Lourdes. She was humble and obedient. When Our Lady told her to dig in the soil, she did it despite ridicule. Through her obedience, faith and humility she was able to be the extended hands of Our Blessed Mother. By pulling up the earth with her simple hands, she allowed a channel for the healing waters of Lourdes to flow.  If St. Bernadette had lacked those virtues and had not obeyed Our Lady, might we not have the waters of Lourdes?

It seems that Our Lord and Our Lady desire an instrument or said differently They wish to work through the hands of others. While God could do all things Himself He choses a different path. Who does He choose to work through? Most often it seems it is the simple and humble. Where does He find simplicity and humility most frequently? It would seem it is in children who He made a point of calling to Himself during his ministry on earth.

There is one other piece of the life of St. Bernadette and the town of Lourdes that is fascinating. In Europe at the time of the apparitions, prayer of the Rosary had fallen out of common practice. The village of Lourdes was different. The devotion was still very much alive and was being practiced by many both young and old. The village also had a strong devotion to the Holy Souls in Purgatory. There are reports that many individuals in the town prayed an additional decade of the Rosary without a mystery for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. There are many statues in Lourdes today that depict Our Lady holding a Rosary with  6 decades.  Might this devotion to the Rosary and also the kindness the individuals showed to the Holy Souls in Purgatory have brought the favor of Our Lord and His Mother to this tiny place in France? While we may never know all the reasons Lourdes and in particular St. Bernadette where chosen to receive such favor one can look to St. Bernadette as an example of holiness and also as a powerful intercessor for ourselves and our children.

As many may be contemplating how to enrich their journey through Lent may I humbly suggest incorporating the Rosary and also praying a decade daily of the Rosary for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. In the coming days we will be sharing more ideas for Lent both for ones private journey, that of the family and also for Children's Rosary groups.

A Visit to the National Shrine of Divine Mercy on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes

Happy Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes! Today we made a pilgrimage to the National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts USA. This Shrine is run by the Marians of the Immaculate Conception. It was Our Blessed Mother that identified herself to St. Bernadette as the "Immaculate Conception".  It felt particularly special to be in a place where there is such devotion to Our Lady under the title of the Immaculate Conception.

As we spent the afternoon within the chapel, we felt a closeness with Our Blessed Mother. The beauty of one's surroundings in this chapel gives a feeling one is already in heaven.

In a special way during Adoration and the Rosary, I prayed for all the members of the Children's Rosary and all who help the Children's Rosary. I also prayed for of the members of the Children's Rosary before a first class relic of St. John Paul II and St. Maria Faustina.

May God bless you all!

160th Anniversary of the First Apparitions in Lourdes

February 11th 2018 marks the 160th anniversary of the first apparitions in Lourdes. We will be celebrating the Feast by holding our monthly Children's Rosary at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in West Hartford, Connecticut at 9:45 AM ET. We will then travel to the Shrine of Divine Mercy for Adoration and Mass. There will be an Anointing of the Sick after Mass in honor of the Feast. The Mass will begin at 2PM. Please know I will be praying for all the members of the Children's Rosary during the visit to the Shrine.  Many groups have shared that they are holding special meetings tomorrow to honor the Feast.

February 11th is also the anniversary of the release of our Children's Rosary theme song: Rosary Children. You will notice a different date of release on the video. The reason is that a small typo was present on the original music video for our Spanish Website. Although we currently share this link the original date of release for our song was February 11th 2015.

I hope you enjoy the picture above. This was a surprise gift from one of my son's this evening. He drew it tonight in honor of the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.

A Children's Rosary in Tanzania invites you to see a window into their way of life and prayer

We continue to share good news with you. This year there has been tremendous spread of the Children's Rosary in Tanzania. Many boxes of Rosaries and materials were sent to new groups beginning in Schools and Parishes. Over 1500 children are now involved. As communication in Tanzania is somewhat difficult given its rural nature, we have not had many pictures up until this point to share. This past week we received many. These are from a Children's Rosary in a parish named after St. Michael the Archangel. They particularly wanted to share this with the children who are part of the Children's Rosary around the world. They had this request:

"kindly share with the children"

Fr. Damian runs this group. The new group was very excited to share a window into their life in Tanzania and how they worship.

We share these beautiful pictures with pleasure. It is inspiring to see how children in such remote places where even mail is not delivered have joined this growing network of prayer through the Children's Rosary. They feel connected through prayer with the children spread across the globe in such places such as Russia, Pakistan, Vietnam and those in bustling cities such as Los Angeles, United States who also participate in the Children's Rosary. The children in Tanzania share their life in the pictures shown below. One can see their homes in one picture. They share how they come together for Mass..how they play under a tree. Indeed they share their love and faith with us.

More Rosaries To Russia

We recently sent the rosaries pictured above to a priest from Russia who was visiting Alaska. He will be hand carry them back to his parish in Russia where he has a Children's Rosary prayer group. We have also included in the package Children's Rosary prayer books.

We are grateful to all those who have put such care and love into making Rosaries which have been sent to the Children's Rosary. There is something beautiful about receiving a handmade Rosary. The soul to receive it knows that another soul took time and care to make such a gift. As the number of requests for materials continues to grow we humbly invite those who may have the means to make a donation or become a monthly donor.

The Joy of Giving

Members of our Children's Rosary in Naples, Florida have been busy working on making handmade rosaries. They were joined by other children wanting to help. Two hundred and fifteen handmade rosaries were recently sent to Kenya. The children also made cards to accompany the rosaries. These will be given to children who are waiting to form new Children's Rosary prayer groups in the Nairobi region. There is a joy and excitement that comes when one prepares a package over months. As each rosary is completed and the final knots tied one can imagine the face of a child taking that rosary for the first time. There is an anticipation of the little person taking hold of their own rosary. As the box fills and the time comes to bring it to the post office more excitement comes. While we do not always receive pictures back from the groups as they receive the rosaries, in ones heart a joy comes. It is a gift it seems given to the soul who has given a gift with love.
* A special thank you to the Legion of Mary who helped these children purchase the supplies needed to make these rosaries that were sent.

Rosaries to the Philippines!

A special thank you to those who helped with donations during the Christmas season. This has allowed us to continue to respond to requests for materials around the world. Recently we had a request for materials from the Philippines. In anticipation of the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes one of our Children's Rosary groups asked for extra materials. Their Chapel is named after Our Lady of Lourdes and they are anticipating visitors on the Feast. They hope to share news of the Children's Rosary and encourage more groups to form in the region.

The large box that was sent included 150 handmade rosaries, 3 Children's Rosary DVDs, two copies of each of our Children's Rosary CDs, 150 Children's Rosary books, and 200 Children's Rosary bookmarks.

Candlemas

Today is Candlemas also known as the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord. It is a day when candles are traditionally blessed.
As we woke up to a layer of ice this morning, many of our local churches cancelled their early morning Masses. An idea came that maybe we should take a bus to the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford, Connecticut as they had a 12:10 Mass. We packed our bag with some candles and set out. It seemed an extra blessing to be at the Cathedral for the Feast today. Another surprise was when they announced the Mass was offered for Fr. John Blackhall. Some may recall it was Fr. Blackhall's sign in his window "Patiently Waiting" that inspired our Children's Rosary yearly Patiently Waiting campaign leading up to Christmas. As today is the last day of the Christmas season, we traditionally take down our Christ is Born sign in our window. A practice also inspired by Fr. Blackhall.  So it was indeed a wonderful surprise to be at a Mass offered for his soul. At the conclusion of Mass they had blessed candles available for those in attendance to take and we also were able to have the candles we brought blessed. A wonderful Spanish priest was visiting from Monasterio del Escorial. He spoke only Spanish. Thankfully, Asher was with me and could speak to him in Spanish and of course tell him about the Children's Rosary.

We share the picture taken above of one of our blessed candles burning tonight. As the Christmas season comes to a close there are many things for which we are grateful. The Lord has been very generous with His blessings. We wanted to close the season with a special thank you to God. A Mass was celebrated in thanksgiving today.

In the coming week we hope to share with you many blessing that have been coming.
God bless you all.

Mass Offered on February 1st 2018 for Seminarians

A Mass was offered today for all seminarians that they will grow in holiness and lead us all in love. Every month we have a Mass offered for this intention. As our seminarians will be the future shepherds and our children are the future flock, it seemed a beautiful way for the children to help.
