Feast of the Holy Family 2018

During the Octave of Christmas the Feast days come one after the other.  It is such a blessed time of the year one might become overwhelmed.  However, the Feast of the Holy Family is something that deserves particular attention.  Something that I became aware of at least a year after the Children's Rosary formed was that the chapel where the first meeting of the Children's Rosary was held is named after the Holy Family.  In our parish, we rarely call it by its formal name: the Holy Family Chapel but rather call it simply our chapel and so its true name was not known to me for some time.  In reflection it seemed a perfect home for the Children's Rosary.  For children are the heart of the family and the family is the lungs of the Church.  If our families are strong then our church will be strong.  And so I could see the wisdom of Our Lord in bringing the children to prayer in a space dedicated to the Holy Family.  Through these little innocent prayers the coals in our families of love and peace would be stoked and a renewed commitment to family prayer would begin.

Today's Prayer:

In a special way Lord, we pray for all of our families.  Lord, we struggle to follow your example and ask that you help us that all of our families may mirror the Holy Family.  We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

"We Have a Problem"

In November we received an email from an individual in Argentina. She had learned about the Children's Rosary from a program that aired on EWTN called Nuestra Fe en Vivo. She was planning a Mission trip to Cuba and had hopes of starting the Children's Rosary in a parish there. After further communication we sent her a box of Children's Rosary books in Spanish and rosaries. She needed the materials by Christmas to carry to Cuba. We had approximately 1 month for the box to arrive which seemed sufficiently adequate. We were surprised how fast the box traveled from the United States to Buenos Aires. But then it seemed to sit without moving for some days.

It was then that we received this email from Argentina on December 14th,
"We have a problem. Yesterday I went to the post office to check the status of de package, because it's in Buenos Aires since several days. They told me that it will arrive very delayed, because the customs in Buenos Aires check everything that enters in the country. This week they were delivering the things that arrived in August."

A suggestion was made that a package could quickly be sent to Mexico which might be picked up during a long layover on the way to Cuba. This we did. Although due to the expense of a faster courier we could only send a small package with mostly books.

Then something unexpected happened. On December 21st the package arrived in Argentina. While packages that had been waiting since August, were only being delivered a week earlier, the box of Children's Rosary materials seemed to sail in just in time for the Mission Trip. Indeed, God's timing is perfect. In reflection, it seemed providential that we had sent the second box which had arrived in Mexico. Now there would be more materials to bring to Cuba. Maybe it seemed Our Lord and Our Lady had some plans bigger then ours for this Mission trip. We will see how things unfold. Please keep this trip in your prayers.

Invitation to Everyone
We should note that the Patiently Waiting Campaign is an invitation to adults and children. One does not have to be involved with the Children's Rosary to participate.

The story behind the Patiently Waiting Campaign:
A number of years ago, I was walking past a home and in the window a sign read: Patiently Waiting.  It caught my attention.  Each time I walked past it each day I looked at it and was grateful for it. To see the sign made me happy inside. I wondered who put such a sign in their window.  Later I would find out it was a wonderfully holy priest.  After his passing, many shared how special this little sign was to them. It was so simple but it sent a ripple out into the community, a joyful one that is still moving in my heart years later even after the soul who placed it in his window has passed on.  This made me wonder, what if each of us put a sign in our windows?  What would be the effect...these speckles of love sprinkled all over the world. It was from this thought that the Patiently Waiting Campaign was born.

Patiently Waiting in Pakistan 2018

We have been receiving pictures from the Children's Rosary in Pakistan. They have been continuing their annual tradition of participating in our Children's Rosary: "Patiently Waiting Campaign".  The picture above is from the Children's Rosary in Kotli Raet Wail. This is an outpost of the main Parish St. Francis Xavier Parish in Gujranwala. There previously had been no Church in this small town. Through the children meeting weekly in their Children's Rosary group, the families of the town decided that a Church was now needed. So with the encouragement of the children, funds were locally raised in the town. Construction began and was completed this year. The Church was named after the Holy Spirit.
The Children's Rosary group leader helped in the construction of the Church and helped in the mural wall painting. The children continued to raise money this year to have a podium installed in the Church. It is visible in the photo above.

We share more pictures that were sent to us from Pakistan below. Different Children's Rosary groups have been making signs. We would also like to extend a humble invitation to those reading this post:

Join Us for the Christmas/Infant of Prague Novena (December 16-December 24, 2018)

Christmas Novena
Prayer to the Miraculous Infant of Prague

In anticipation of Christmas December 25th consider saying this 9 day Novena from December 16th-December 24th.

O Divine Infant Jesus, Who said: "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you." Through the intercession of Mary, Your Most Holy Mother, I knock, I seek, I ask that my prayer be granted.

(Make your request.)

O Divine Infant Jesus, Who said: "Unless you become like little children, you will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven." Grant me the simplicity and wonder, the tenderness and gentleness of a child. Fill me with innocence, hope and love. Grant me the grace that I need.

(Make your request.)

O Divine Infant Jesus, help me know how close You are to me and how powerful is Your embrace. Help me to trust that You hold the whole world in Your hand. I place my every need and care in Your hands. I ask that you fulfill my request according to Your holy will.

(Make your request.)

Miraculous Infant of Prague, have mercy on us.
We humbly ask that you join us in praying this novena and include as one of your intentions: May Our Lady's plans for each of us, our families, and the Children's Rosary be realizedIn a special way we also ask that Jesus be born in our hearts this Christmas. May Our Lord grant Christmas joy and peace for all the families of the Children's Rosary and all those who have been so generous to the Children's Rosary this year.
A special gift to all the members of the Children's Rosary: a Mass will be celebrated for all the members of the Children's Rosary and all who help the Children's Rosary on December 25th.

Light

In November we received an email sent to the Children's Rosary:
We have joined as individuals and join in prayer every night from Houston. We missed praying with "Hartford" the last few days.

The note was referring to our View from Heaven map on our website. This displays groups that are actively meeting as blue twinkling lights. There is also a button one can click called "join in prayer". When a person hits the button a gold twinkling light flashes for 30 minutes. In the evening while saying prayers we routinely go to the Children's Rosary site and click "join in prayer" as we begin to pray. We see our little light flashing. Many times I had seen the light in Houston. Often I would mention the light to my kids as we prayed. We did not know who it was but we were grateful to see it. Then in November, we went on a trip to Alabama. Our light in Hartford was no longer there. We were surprised to receive the note from the person who was the light in Houston. We had treasured the light in Houston and apparently they had looked for our light too and when it was not there it prompted them to write. They did not know who it was but they simply wrote to say they missed it.

The View from Heaven map is a simple way we have chosen to display prayers being said around the world. It allows a single soul to begin praying and join in prayer with Children's Rosary groups praying or other individual people praying. Sometimes the View from Heaven is dark. A person clicks on the button and begins to pray. They are but one light. But that one light transforms the whole view of the world. Immediately a person looking at the image is drawn to that region of the world where there is one person or family praying. One does not need 1,000 lights to transform the View from Heaven. It takes only one. It is a joy to see more lights but even just one is sufficient to bring joy to another person visiting the site. It was our one missing light in Hartford that brought the email inquiring as to where it had gone. It is an encouraging thought to contemplate. Last night when our family began to pray we added our light. We saw Houston flashing but we had a surprise there was another light in the Virginia region. We did not know who it was but we were grateful to unify prayers with them. We have included a screen shot of the map last night with our three lights visible. Consider visiting our site and adding your light. If you find the map dark, add your light. Trust that it will make a difference to another soul. We will look for it.

Día de Oración por Rosario de Niños 12.8.2018

Queridos Amigos,

Day of Prayer Offered for the Children's Rosary 12.8.2018

Recently we visited the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Alabama. While there we prayed at the tomb of Mother Angelica for all the members of the Children's Rosary. We also had the wonderful grace to visit with the cloistered Nuns. During our time at the Shrine, we were able to arrange a Day of Prayer to be offered for the Children's Rosary.

Today, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a Day of Prayer will be offered by the Nuns of Our Lady of the Angels Monastery in Alabama for the Children's Rosary Movement & all its Members. This will include: Remembrance at Mass, Divine Office, Rosary, Adoration Hour and Prayerful Good Works.

New Children's Rosary in Seychelles

We are excited to share that a new Children's Rosary will meet for the first time on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8th, in Seychelles. This is an island off the coast of East Africa known for its gorgeous beaches. While many of us are experiencing the cold of winter, I thought this was a welcome sight. This group has ordered our Children's Rosary books in English and French. The population in Seychelles is trilingual. They speak English, French and Creole. We welcome this new group!
