Where there is Darkness...Light

Today at 9:30 AM the phone rang...the news was good!

There was some bright news today. There will be a new Children's Rosary forming at St. Marguerite Parish in Brookfield, Connecticut.  This group was granted permission to form this morning.  The mom who was seeking permission wrote to me that the phone rang exactly at 9:30 this morning and it was her Pastor.  He granted permission for the formation of a Children's Rosary and they set their first meeting for January 17th at 4PM.

What is particularly beautiful about this story is that the town of Brookfield is right next to Newtown Connecticut.  At the exact moment the bells at Newtown were ringing to remember the children and adults who were lost last year in the school shooting a beautiful grace was being given.  The grace was a yes to bringing children to prayer.  The prayer of St. Francis of Assisi comes to mind just now....

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
Oh, Divine Master, grant that I may
not so much seek to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
