Day of Prayer Offered for the Children's Rosary Movement January 31st 2019

We recently received a card from Mother Dolores and the Community at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Alabama USA. The Nuns gave us a tremendous gift. They are offering a day of prayer for the Children's Rosary Movement today! This was not something we requested. They chose to do this themselves. We are most grateful.

Mass Offered on January 25th 2019 for all the Members of the Children's Rosary

A Mass was offered today for all the members of the Children's Rosary and all who help the Children's Rosary.  We continue to have a Mass said for the this intention on the 25th of each month. The Eucharist is such a powerful gift from Our Lord that when I wanted to extend thanksgiving to all of you I knew of no better way to express my gratitude.  May Our Lord's love be poured down on all of you through the powerful sacrifice of the Holy Mass.

New Children's Rosary in Cuba!

We are excited to share that a new Children's Rosary began on January 5th 2019 at Our Lady of Charity Parish in Cuba. Children's Rosary materials were brought to Cuba just after Christmas from Argentina. We have received wonderful news about this new group.

You can not imagine the joy we have with this new initiative. Through Mary's work, we began the first Saturday of the month, January 5, with the participation of 72 children... The truth that I was struck by the piety of the children. There was a lot of participation from their parents, who from the pews of the Church prayed and also deposited their intentions in the box of the Virgin. It was very nice to see the children telling me what they wrote to the Virgin Mary. I was very shocked by one who told me that "he had told Maria to say hello to his family who is in heaven."

We welcome this new Children's Rosary group at Our Lady of Charity Parish. Our Lady of Charity is the Patroness of Cuba. On January 15th, efforts began in a second parish in Cuba to initiate a Children's Rosary. We hope to share soon that the second group has met for the first time.

The Holy Spirit Unifies

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord.  "He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit." (John 1:33)

The working of the Holy Spirit is one that unifies. It is in opposition to the work of the evil one who serves to divide and scatter. Today the stories that seem to be highlighted are those of divided families and division on a global scale. Through prayer and the workings of the Holy Spirit we begin to see things differently. Instead of a divided world, we see one that is illuminated with people in prayer. The View from Heaven map on the Children's Rosary website allows individuals from around the world to join in prayer and add a gold twinkling light by clicking "join in prayer". This light flashes for 30 minutes. A Children's Rosary group meeting shows as a blue twinkling light. The screen shot above was the View from Heaven map this morning (January 13th 2019). A blue light is seen in Vietnam. This is a Children's Rosary prayer group meeting. Four gold lights are seen in the United States. These are individuals joining in prayer.

It is our hope that as individuals visit the site they are moved to join in prayer and add their gold light. But what if when they come there are no lights. There are no groups meeting and no one joining in prayer. A person can still add their light but often the invitation to prayer seems to fall flat. It is therefore our hope that the map will never be dark. When Our Lord and Our Lady look down we wish them to never see a world without prayer. Thus we have extended an invitation to people to become "Core Lights". These are people that come to the Children's Rosary website each day and unify in prayer. Through their commitment of 30 minutes a day we seek to have a light always blinking...a person always at prayer. They do not have to pray for the Children's Rosary during those 30 minutes but simply say in their heart that they wish to unify prayers with the members of the Children's Rosary praying and by clicking the button "Join in Prayer" they also unify with those adding their light on the View from Heaven map.

Today a Mass was offered for the sanctification of those who are "core lights" on our Children's Rosary website.

If you would like to become a "Core Light" please email Blythe Kaufman at blythe@childrensrosary.org
Please provide your name and the time you would like to join in prayer each day. If you are not able to commit to a daily time please visit the site often and unify in prayer.

We have a video we call a View from Heaven that helps to show the concept behind the View from Heaven map on our site. We also have this same video in Spanish:

The Last Day of the Christmas Season!

Today marks the end of the Christmas season. Tomorrow we will begin ordinary time. On this the last day of Christmas we thought it would be nice to highlight a note we received from the Children's Rosary group at St. Nicholas Church in Rupert, Idaho. This is a Spanish speaking group. The note that was sent to us was written in Spanish:

First anniversary of the Children's Rosary at St. Nicholas Church in Rupert, Idaho. Ten children of various ages attended on December 15, 2018. We thank the Blessed Virgin that we continue our work of the Children's Rosary. We will continue praying every third Saturday of each month at the Church of San Nicolas de Rupert, Idaho.

Keep praying for us.

We rejoice that this Children's Rosary group has been meeting 12 months and continues to meet. At their first meeting no children attended but the group leader did not give up. She kept praying and inviting children. It is not always easy but as Mother Teresa used to say, "We are called to be faithful, not successful." It is our effort and love that is rewarded. Today we thank God for the many blessings and graces we receive and for the gift of this group and all the Children's Rosary groups that continue to meet and offer prayers.

Rosaire des Enfants - Seychelles

Today the first meeting of Rosaire des Enfants (Children's Rosary) was held at Sacred Heart Church in Seychelles. They met at 8:30 AM local time. We wish to share some of the beautiful pictures from their meeting. The picture below shows the Pastor blessing the new group.

The children had their Children's Rosary intention box which they placed before them as they prayed.

The children took turns placing flowers before Our Lady at the end of each decade.

They decorated the altar beautifully for the Children's Rosary. Great care was done to make sure everything was done with love for Our Lady. We thank the children for their prayers. We welcome this new Children's Rosary group from Seychelles and hope that others will begin in this country.

New Children's Rosary Group at St. Stephen School in Kenya

We received good news today from Br. Cleophus. A new Children's Rosary group is forming at St. Stephen School in Kenya. This is in the town of Masimba. This is in a very remote part of Kenya on the border of Tsavo National Park. Tsavo National Park is one of the oldest and largest parks in Kenya. There are no roads, running water or electricity in this region. There are also no schools at least except for one. Br. Cleophus is working with the children in this newly formed school that currently has 40 children. He is very excited to initiate the Children's Rosary within the school. The new group plans to hold their first meeting in 2 weeks and meet twice a week on Monday and Thursday mornings.

There is also a new Children's Rosary forming at St. Mary's Church which is an outpost of Sultan Hamud Parish. This is in the same region as St. Stephen School. We received word that the package we sent with rosaries for these children has arrived at the post office. They hope to pick up the rosaries next week.

We welcome the children from St. Stephen School and also those at St. Mary's Church in Kenya to the Children's Rosary.

Children's Rosary on EWTN's Church Universal

We are excited to share the links to the two Church Universal shows that featured the Children's Rosary:
Episode 1 Children Answering a Call
(original air date: August 19th 2018)
Episode 2 Children in the New Evangelization
(original air date: September 30th 2018)

We were extremely happy to see that EWTN re-aired the episode "Children in the New Evangelization" last night (January 6th 2019): the Feast of Epiphany. On a day when we are focused on giving Jesus gifts, it is He who seems to be surprising us with His gifts. We hope and pray that this extra airing will reach more souls and help to bring more children to prayer.

What Would You Like to Give to Our Lord on Epiphany?

Our Lord received many treasurers when the Magi brought him their gifts which included Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. What treasures would we like to bring to Our Lord? If we wanted to give Him gifts, how would we do it?

We share with you today a glimpse of what was given to Jesus last year through the Children's Rosary. Through the year many packages, boxes, and even large barrels were filled with rosaries, Children's Rosary books and materials. These were given away with the goal to help children form Children's Rosary prayer groups around the world. Rosaries in the amount of 23,781 were given away as well as 5,756 Children's Rosary books. Some were given as mission packages carried to places like Chile, Cuba and Haiti. Rosaries were carried to the World Meeting of Families in Ireland and given to priests and religious from Bangladesh and Kenya for the children of their countries with hopes of new groups forming. Large numbers of Rosaries were sent to Uganda to help start Children's Rosary groups in 30 schools. Over 2,000 rosaries were sent to families in the United States with school age children with information about the Children's Rosary. In total, rosaries and materials were sent to 6 continents. Many people gave of their talent and treasure to make this happen. So many people sent us handmade rosaries. We thank all of you. The New Year has begun and new requests for materials await. Requests for rosaries in Tanzania and the Philippines are waiting.
Today on this day when our hearts are drawn to think of the perfect gift for Jesus... think of the children. Think of little ones who might grow in the experience of prayer and develop a relationship with Jesus in their hearts. Think of giving a gift that could make this a reality. As one imagines kneeling before the crib of Jesus, might such a gift be warmly received? Might He look with love and appreciation that our hearts were moved to bring Him the hearts of innocent children in prayer?

Indeed, my heart is moved to write and ask for donations because I too feel that Our Lord wants such gifts. He looks for our collaboration in reaching souls. He is eager to help but we must do our part, too. "The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few."(Luke 10:2)

The soil is fertile in the hearts of children but we need to begin planting. Help us send out the seeds.

1) A donation of $150 allows us to send a large box with materials internationally. This would allow a parish with many children to begin a Children's Rosary. The package would include:
*Rosaries for up to 300 children.
*Twenty Children's Rosary books.
*Children's Rosary group leader T shirt.
*Consecration prayers for the Consecration of the new group

2) A donation of $50 helps us send enough materials for a small Children's Rosary group to begin in a foreign country.
* Fifteen rosaries
* 5 Children's Rosary books
* Consecration prayers

3) A donation of $25 helps us share enough materials for a new small Children's Rosary group to form in the United States.

4) A smaller donations of $5-20.00 allows us to put together a missionary package to hand deliver to a person traveling to a distant area of the world to help begin Children's Rosary groups.

4) Larger donations of $1,000 or more help us meet the demands of materials from missionary outposts where 15-20 new groups are requesting materials.

The Children's Rosary is a non profit organization with 501 C3 status through the IRS. Donations in the United States are tax deductible.
Donations can be made online here.

Donations can also be sent to our postal address:
Children's Rosary
PO Box 271743
West Hartford CT 06127

Checks should be made out to Children's Rosary.

The first picture was taken in Tanzania, the second in Bangladesh, and the lower picture is of the children after receiving rosaries we sent in Kenya. We have also included some pictures of rosaries prior to being sent to the children.

Blessings on the Feast of St. John Neumann: A Children's Rosary in Florida Turns 7

Seven years ago a Children's Rosary met for the first time at St. Agnes Parish in Naples, Florida USA. Their first meeting was held on January 5th 2012: the Feast of St John Neumann.

We share a portion of a post that was written on December 5th 2012 which describes some of the blessings this new group received leading up to their first meeting.

Shortly after the Feast of the Holy Rosary in October I was contacted by a lovely mom who wanted to start a Children's Rosary in Naples, Florida USA.  We began corresponding and praying about the formation of this new group. In the middle of November, Valerie emailed me that she wanted to say a novena to a saint that had not already been invited to join the Children's Rosary through a 9 day novena.  Members of the Children's Rosary have already prayed to 660 saints but many more remain who have yet to be invited to intercede on our behalf. Immediately a name came to mind for Valerie: St. John Neumann.  He was the first Saint from the United States of America to be Canonized.  Just weeks before I had heard of this saint for the first time.  He was the saint to whom the Neumann Press was dedicated. As the Neumann Press was working with us to publish our new Children's Rosary book I thought it wonderful to pray to St. Neumann for his help with all aspects of this new book. Valerie was excited to pray to St. Neumann but began first with a novena to Our Lady and then followed with one to St. Neumann.

While Valerie was praying to St. Neumann she relayed to me some wonderful experiences. Last Saturday evening while setting up for the Latin Mass to be celebrated the following morning she was asked to place some relics on the altar.  As she was walking to the altar, she noticed she was holding the relic of St. Neumann.  She kissed the relic and placed it on the altar.  The following morning she noticed that the priest had removed the relics and said he wanted to wait to display them until after Advent.  So by the sequence of events the previous evening she was to be the only person to kiss the relic that weekend to her knowledge.  Yesterday while on the way to daily Mass at St. Agnes, she accidentally took the wrong turn and came across a sign which read St. John Neumann.  It was in reference to the local high school named after him but the sign said only St. John Neumann.  Later yesterday, Valerie heard from the Parish that she was given permission to have the first Children's Rosary on Saturday January 5th at 9:30 AM in the chapel.  This was wonderful news as Valerie was hoping to have the monthly Children's Rosary on the first Saturday of the month as Our Lady's Immaculate Heart is honored on this day every month.  Tonight as I sat down to draft a post to announce this new Children's Rosary group and their first meeting,  I thought, maybe I should check if there is a special feast on that date.  As I searched January 5th and Feast, up popped many links which listed January 5th: the feast of St. John Neumann.

Indeed, God's Providence never fails in Its design. We are very grateful for the many blessings that have been granted. This Children's Rosary at St. Agnes continues to meet faithfully each first Saturday of the month. We share a picture from one of their meetings.

We wish a very happy 7th Anniversary to the Children's Rosary in Naples, Florida!

Mass to be Offered on January 5th 2019 for Renewal of Family Prayer

A Mass will be offered on Saturday January 5th for Renewal of Family Prayer. This is something we do on the first Saturday of every month. Over 800 individual 9 day novenas have been said by members of the Children's Rosary to different saints also asking for renewal of family prayer.  Why so much attention and prayer for this topic?
The Children's Rosary is not an intercessory prayer group, meaning its purpose is not to pray for intentions, rather it is a prayer group for children which helps support their prayer lives. Yet, one cannot ignore the importance of prayer in the family.  Saints throughout history have championed prayer in the family.  The famous saying coined by Venerable Fr. Patrick Peyton summaries it so beautifully, "The family that prays together stays together". And so to keep and strengthen our families we pray for them. We hope that the prayer the children experience in their prayer groups will blossom into a richer prayer life in their homes.  Many members of the Children's Rosary have shared how this is happening in their families.

The picture above is of the Children's Rosary at Ave Maria Parish in Ave Maria, Florida. They meet at 3:30 PM on the first Friday of the month. Please consider unifying with them in prayer today. Visit our site: www.childrensrosary.org
You will be able to see their blue twinkling light when they are meeting and you can click "join in prayer" and add your gold twinkling light to the View from Heaven map.
