Children's Rosary

The Children's Rosary® is a prayer group movement that was begun out of love for Our Lady and Her Son. Jesus tells us "Truly, I say to you unless you turn and become like children you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven" (Matthew 18:3). The Children's Rosary is an effort to begin in parishes rosary prayer groups composed of children and led by children. Through prayer of the Rosary Our Lady will guide our young people while at the same time sanctify families and Parishes.

Children's Rosary led the Rosary at the Eucharistic Procession in Dublin, Ireland

Members of the Children's Rosary led the Rosary at the Eucharistic Procession held in Dublin on September 7. This is the third Eucharistic Procession in Ireland where the Children's Rosary has led the Rosary. The prior processions in Derry and Athlone were wonderful events. It is beautiful to see how the children are taking the leadership role in prayer in the community. See some of the pictures below from the procession which was attended by approximately 1,000 people.

Children's Rosary Helps with Eucharistic Procession in Athlone, Ireland

On the eve of the Feast of St. Patrick, a Eucharistic procession was held in Athlone, Ireland. Members of the Children's Rosary participated.

Shalom World put together a lovely video highlighting the involvement of the Children's Rosary in the Procession. It includes the children spreading rose petals as they walked.

The National Catholic Register also reported on the procession.

Members carried a banner, and on the R/Shannon footbridge, members of the Children's Rosary led those in the procession in the Holy Rosary. Approximately 1,000 people attended the procession.

This follows up the Eucharistic processions held in the Diocese of Derry on the feast of St. Brigid of Ireland. The Children's Rosary also led the Rosary at those events as well.

Children's Rosary to Lead Rosary at Eucharistic Procession in Athlone, Ireland

As a follow up to the two wonderful Eucharistic processions in Derry, another procession has been planned for Athlone on the eve of the Feast of St Patrick's Day. Athlone is an historic town in the centre of Ireland. This procession follows immediately after 33 hours of Perpetual Adoration in Clonmacnoise, a nearby ancient monastic settlement which has some of the deepest roots in Christianity in Ireland. The Children's Rosary led the Rosary at both Eucharistic processions in Derry (Guildhall Square and Claudy). Now the Children's Rosary will be leading the Rosary for the Procession in Athlone at 4:00 p.m. This is a great grace. At the Derry Procession in Guildhall Square, the most recent estimates report that between 4,000 and 5,000 people approximately attended. The children, who represented three Children's Rosary groups, led the Rosary. Through their regular prayer in their groups, they have gained enough confidence to lead thousands of people in prayer. The fruits of this witness has led to more new Children’s Rosary groups being started in different parishes around Ireland. For this upcoming Procession in Athlone, which is in the center of Ireland, members from at least three Children's Rosary groups will be participating jointly leading the Rosary on the River Shannon footbridge. One group is traveling from Galway, another from Clare and some from Mayo.

October 12, 2024 Procession in Hamburg, Germany

We received a number of pictures from the Children's Rosary group in Hamburg, Germany. They held a Rosary procession on October 12,2024.

Thirty-two people participated and 12 of these were children. They prayed the rosary and also made rosaries.

Fr. Ossi joined the group and helped to join in singing many songs.

Rosary Procession led by the Children's Rosary in Shendam Diocese, Nigeria

We received an email from Fr. Paul Miapkwap of Nigeria on October 1st. He wrote:

"Today is our Independence Day in Nigeria. The Catholic bishops conference asked all Dioceses in Nigeria to say the Rosary for peace and unity in our country." In Shendam Dicoese the Children's Rosary members led the Rosary procession and prayers".

Children's Rosary Groups Lead Palm Sunday Processions in Pakistan 2021

We received many photos from different Children's Rosary groups leading processions in Pakistan. The picture above is the Children's Rosary in Kler.

Members of the Children's Rosary from Kaka Basty are seen above in a long line leading a procession on Palm Sunday.

The Children's Rosary did a beautiful job leading a procession from Darwshky Church on Palm Sunday.

The Children's Rosary at Mansur Wali also met on Palm Sunday.

The Children's Rosary at St. Anthony Church in Kahnky Haed also prayed and had a procession on Palm Sunday.

We thank all the children for their leadership of the people from their respective Churches in processions through the streets.

How to Plan a Home Marian Procession

The following are the 4 basic steps to holding a Home Marian Procession:
1) A statue or picture of Our Blessed Mother is carried to each room of the home.
2) A Marian hymn can be played or sung during the Procession.
3) There is the optional use of holy water that can be sprinkled through the house as one processes. Members of the family can also carry candles.
4) After each room is visited, Our Lady can be brought to where the procession was begun. At this point the family can say prayers such as the Rosary. One may even consider crowning Our Lady with a crown of fresh flowers especially if the procession is held during the month of May.

Consider holding a Marian Procession during the month of May which is dedicated to Our Blessed Mother. It is also a wonderful tradition to hold a monthly Marian procession with your children. Choose a Marian feast each month and have the youngest person in the family help lead the Procession. Customize it according to your family. To help enjoy the feast, bake some muffins or a dessert. This is always a welcome addition to enjoy after the procession with your children.

King of Kings

Happy Feast of Christ the King! We received these pictures today from Pakistan. Many of the Children's Rosary groups had special festivities planned. Six Children's Rosary groups sent pictures from Pakistan.

The children made signs which they carried in processions honoring Our Lord. The groups that met in the evening held candlelit processions.

Some of the children from the Children's Rosary acted out parts of Our Lord's life to share with the people.

The six Children's Rosary groups that sent pictures are all new groups. The posters they carry say Jesus is King of Kings in Urdu. The children in all 6 of these groups have been meeting to pray without rosaries. They each would like to have a rosary. As soon as we have raised funds to cover the shipping costs we would like to send them several boxes of rosaries.

Procession in Honor of Our Lady of Lourdes

The Children's Rosary (Rosaire des Enfants) at Sacred Heart Parish in Seychelles shared these beautiful pictures. Members of the Children's Rosary group participated in their Parish procession in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes on February 10th. The group leader explained that in Seychelles each parish is given a Feast. Their parish was blessed to receive two: the Feast of the Sacred Heart and the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. For these Parish Feasts the Bishop usually presides at the Mass.

Bishop Denis Weihe and their Parish Priest Father Landry are shown in the photo above walking in the procession. Individuals from around the island came and participated in the procession. The members of the Children's Rosary can be seen holding baskets with rose petals which they showered over a statue of Our Lady during the procession. The children are wearing blue or white scarves that were made by the group leader.

The procession concluded with Benediction at the Parish Grotto where there is a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes. We thank the Children's Rosary in Seychelles for sharing these pictures and the wonderful tradition on their Island which honors Our Lady of Lourdes. It is beautiful to see so many children participating.
