Less Than 60 Days Until Christmas

Dear Friends,

It is hard to believe but Christmas is 55 days away.  We recently had a Children's Rosary Christmas card printed. The cover painting was done by, Abigail, a 9 year old member of our Children's Rosary from Wisconsin.  When the final cards arrived I could not stop looking at them and found myself wanting to look in a special way into the face of Our Blessed Mother as I was praying the Rosary. There is something very gentle about the face of Our Blessed Mother in this painting.

In the past, a few Children's Rosary group leaders have expressed interest in having a card to share with families in their groups or maybe even the Pastor of the Parish.

We wanted to give group leaders or others with an interest in obtaining some cards an opportunity to order some in time for Christmas.
The inside of the card reads:
The Children's Rosary wishes you
a blessed Christmas and a joy
filled New Year.

We also humbly encourage those who may want to send some of these cards to include prayers in each card. Such as saying a Rosary for the person receiving it or even 1 Hail Mary.

If you are interested in the cards please write to Blythe at blythe.kaufman@gmail.com
We are only looking to cover the cost of printing and the postage to send them to you. We are happy to make them available to people while supplies last.

Fruits from the Garden

It is harvest season here in New England where we live. Since I was a child I have loved to garden. Even after losing a lot of the use of my hands due to a joint disability my love has not lessened. However, the kids now are my hands and they help in working the soil and harvesting what we grow.  We have learned many lessons in the garden.

We live on a small piece of land in a town that has many many squirrels. The squirrels which seem to increase in number every year, pass their time raiding the garden. We have adopted several strategies to deal with this. One of the primary ways is to go underground. Growing vegetables such as tomatoes although a favorite of our family, rarely produces mature fruit. Before they turn red, they are stolen by the critters. We always plant a few tomatoes holding out hope but more and more we try to grow things underground which has proved to be much safer. Our crops of choice are garlic and potatoes. Garlic is too smelly for most insects and rodents to interest them. The potatoes while sometimes get dug up for the most part seem to grow undetected.

In looking at our harvest bucket of potatoes waiting to be made into a potato salad, some thoughts came. What about our faith and the fruits that we wish to come through it? Are there not so many predators or as Scripture calls then birds who will carry away our seeds. How do we yield fruit today? Do we need to go very deep so those looking to take our fruit cannot find them...so they can grow and be ready for the harvest? Indeed our roots may have to grow very deep. Another lessen we learned is that the fruits we as a family grow are not the same as our neighbors. I do not know why we cannot grow certain things and others can when they live only a few yards away. Why do the squirrels take our vegetables and yet others have no problems? The garden has taught me many things. It has also taught me season to season certain plants in the garden will do well one year and not another even though seemingly everything is the same. To this one must just work and toil, wait and hope. We are not entitled to the fruits...it is by God's grace. To this we must always be grateful.

This year we had a happy surprise. There was a hope this spring that maybe we could try to grow pumpkins again. While in the past squash or anything similar to this was taken by our friends the squirrels, there was a hope we should not give up completely. The kids made mounds and planted some Cinderella pumpkin seeds. Pumpkins in New England take a long time to grow. One can plant them in June and they are not ready to harvest until the fall.

Something unexpected happened this year. Due to some grape vines growing near the garden that actually overshadowing some of the plants the pumpkins were able to grown undetected. We held our breath for weeks hoping no one would catch sight of them. While we could have waited longer for them to grow in size, as soon as they were showing their orange skin we picked them. The kids were very excited to pick our own home grown pumpkins! We have yet to decide how we are going to cook the pumpkins. But that too is the fun of waiting for one's harvest with anticipation. The cooking of the food is more special and much thought goes into the meal. We can share the potato salad we made with one batch of the potatoes we grew.  Yes despite many efforts by the squirrels there were fruits that came from our garden this year.

P.S: I should introduce you to one of our friends.  They had many nice dinners thanks to the garden but we managed to have some, too. On a positive note Alina finds them a fun subject for her photography.

Mass Offered Today for Members of the Children's Rosary

A Mass was offered today for all the members of the Children's Rosary and all who help the Children's Rosary.  We continue to have a Mass said for the this intention on the 25th of each month. The Eucharist is such a powerful gift from Our Lord that when I wanted to extend thanksgiving to all of you I knew of no better way to express my gratitude.  May Our Lord's love be poured down on all of you through the powerful sacrifice of the Holy Mass.

The pictures above are from the Children's Rosary at Suoi Sao orphanage in Vietnam. The pictures were taken on October 15th 2017.  Tran shared from his visit to the orphanage that day:

Praise Jesus and Mary.
Here are some pictures taken on October 15th at the Suoi Sao Orphanage.
On that day, it was raining so we felt very cold. Me and my two friends went through the rain to go to the children. When the kids saw us coming, they were happy. The children with us prayed the Rosary. The children heard me tell of the saints. St. Peter, St. Maria Goretti, St. Teresa Lisieux, St. Francis Assi(si), St. Clara, St. Monica and St. Augustine. They are the ones who have sacrificed for the Lord in their daily lives. They have overcome suffering to reach God. Children are very excited to hear about stories. Also the children with us read the Bible and sang the hymn. We dance to praise God... Everything went well. When we go on, the rain has stopped and we feel warm.

The children hold their Children's Rosary daily at Suoi Sao orphanage. Please consider unifying prayers with them. A schedule of meetings is present on our website. By clicking "Join in Prayer" you can add your gold flashing light to our View from Heaven map.

Feast of St. Anthony Mary Claret

Today is the Feast of St. Anthony Mary Claret.  Some time ago I began reading the autobiography of St. Anthony Mary Claret to my children.

St. Claret shares of his childhood
"During all the years of my childhood and youth I professed a most heartfelt devotion to the Most Holy Mother of God."

"The gift of rosary beads, given me when still a small boy, I received as if it were the acquisition of the greatest treasure. I began to use it for reciting the Rosary with the rest of the school children." He goes on to share that, "since the day I learned how to pray the Rosary, I not only recited it in the church, but also at home every night, as was the custom of my parents."

Later when working in a factory as a young man he shared, "In addition to the whole Rosary that I used to offer every workday, I also used to say a Hail Mary each time the clock struck the hour."

The practice of saying a Hail Mary on the top of each hour was something St. John Marie Vianney did during his life as well.

In reflecting on his childhood St. Claret states: "Praying in church before Our Lady of the Holy Rosary never tired me, for I spoke to her and prayed with such confidence...
I used to imagine that there was a telegraph system connecting the image with Heaven. Indeed, I cannot explain the attention, fervor and devotion I had at prayer those days, but all I know is that it was much greater than now."

I found this very interesting that this Saint reflects on the prayers he said as a child as more full of fervor and devotion then those he said much later in his life. Indeed, St. Anthony Mary Claret gives a wonderful witness to the capacity for children to pray with great confidence and faith. Something that draws down great graces.

On this Feast of St. Anthony Mary Claret we ask in a special way for his intercession for us and the Children's Rosary. Amen.

"In my family for the first time ever we are all praying the rosary together everyday"

A new Children's Rosary began on August 7th 2017 at Baulkham Hills Parish- Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Sydney Australia.

The group leader sent us a note in September with a little update about the group:
Our Children's Rosary group is doing well.  We have some regular children that are coming
every week (around 10).  The children are getting more confident when leading...
Our Lady is doing nice things in our parish and in my family as well.  The parish bought a statue of Our Lady for the Children's Rosary group and during the first meeting the parish priest came to bless Her and the rosary beads that we are using.  A couple of senior men from our community made a box out of styrofoam for Our Lady, so every week one family could be able to take Our Blessed Mother home and keep praying.   One of the men who made the box for Our Lady could not finish the work because he was being treated for skin cancer and was feeling really sick.  Last week he had more tests and the doctors could not find any skin cancer.  He is feeling much better.   In my family for the first time ever we are all praying the rosary together everyday.  I feel that Our Mother is giving us so many blessings.  We have decided to consecrate our family and ourselves to Her.  We will do it in the next few weeks.

This Children's Rosary group meets each Monday. Please consider unifying prayers with them. A schedule of meetings is present on our website (www.childrensrosary.org)The group leader and her family have also let us know they unify prayers each day and add their gold light to the View from Heaven map at 7PM local time in Sydney. Please consider adding your light and clicking "join in prayer" on our website.

New Children's Rosary Meets on October 7th in Malay, Aklan Philippines

We are very excited to share a picture from the first meeting of the Children's Rosary at St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Malay, Aklan Philippines. In the spring a 14 year old boy contacted us with hopes of starting a Children's Rosary. We will call him Courageous. He asked for our help in sending materials to begin a group.  A package was sent. On October 7th the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary his hopes were realized. A new group began at his parish. He relates that the children met at 6AM local time. The priest Consecrated the new Children's Rosary to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary. The children then led the Rosary. Five children were chosen to lead each mystery. After the Children's Rosary they had Mass. Courageous shared, "everyone present are feel that the Lord touch their hearts".

As we shared in an earlier posting Courageous hopes to spread the Children's Rosary to parishes throughout his city.  To this end he has asked for many materials including 10,000 Rosaries and many Children's Rosary books. We wish to thank those that have already offered their help. Our Children's Rosary group in Malaybalay, Phlippines had a banner made for the new group which can be seen in the photo above.  A member of the Children's Rosary in Arkansas USA provided a donation that helped us send a second larger box with more materials and rosaries. The Children's Rosary in Imus, Philippines recently sent another box of Rosaries and materials.  We also sent a box with over 300 Children's Rosary books from the USA.  And the Children's Rosary in Naples, Florida USA is making Rosaries for the group. They report 60 have been made but they hope to send 400!!

So we embrace this new group with love and thank all the children for their prayers and gifts of flowers to Our Lady on the Feast of the Holy Rosary.

If you would like to help in reaching the goal of sending 10,000 Rosaries and many prayer books please contact us. Donations can also be made on our website to help cover shipping costs. Thank you!!

Harvest Time in Vietnam

The children from the Children's Rosary at Bac Hoa Orphanage wanted to share a celebration they had on September 24th 2017.  Several of the older children who are part of the Children's Rosary and do not live at the orphanage helped the nuns who run the orphanage to plan something for the children at the orphanage. There is a Mid-Autumn festival in Vietnam that is one of the biggest festivals of the year. It is know by many as the children's festival.  The origins of the festival was a desire during harvest time for parents to do something special with their children. To spend extra time with their little ones.

The celebration they had at Bac Hoa did not include the children's parents as many of the children in Vietnam were doing. Instead the children took the opportunity to spend more time in prayer with their Heavenly Mother and the Baby Jesus. The children spent the day praying, singing and even held a procession with their Heavenly Mother and the Baby Jesus.
The children were able to take turns giving Our Lady and Jesus flowers. There was special food and treats for the children.
It is beautiful to see how the children are able to weave prayer into everything in their life.

Flowers for Our Lady of Fatima

Yesterday we received this picture from the Principal of St. Francis Xavier School in Birmingham, Alabama USA. They hold a weekly Children's Rosary on Fridays afternoons at their school. The picture above was taken at their Children's Rosary on October 13th 2017. All the children from the school met outside to pray before a large outdoor statue of Our Lady of Fatima. The principal shared:

"The entire school went out, and each grade assigned a student for each decade to give the flower. So, we had 50 beautiful roses around the Blessed Mother".

We are so grateful for the prayers and flowers the children gave to Our Blessed Mother.

"The Rosary is My Favorite Prayer"

Today is the anniversary of when John Paul II was elected Pope. In honor of this anniversary we lit a candle in honor of St. John Paul II and we said a prayer for all the members of the Children's Rosary.

St. John Paul II had a strong devotion to the Rosary.  He prayed 15 decades daily. He was quoted as saying, "The Rosary is my favorite prayer".

St. John Paul II Pray For Us!

Simchat Torah October 13th 2017

Simchat Torah this year began on the evening of October 12th and ended the evening of October 13th.  Simchat Torah is considered by some to be the happiest festival of the Jewish year. It celebrates the starting over of the public Torah readings: a beginning anew. Some Jewish communities even have a practice of dancing with the Torah on this festival.

As my husband is Jewish, I was able to attend Shabbat service Friday evening and hear from the Rabbi how the Torah portion for the week would be Genesis and include the Story of Adam and Eve.

As October 13th this year was also the 100th anniversary of the last apparition of Fatima my mind was rolling over the interesting significance. Indeed the starting over, the reading of the story of creation...all to begin on October 13th 2017.  I leave this coincidence to your discernment.

One interesting comment from the Rabbi has remained with me. He said the first mention of something being Holy in the Torah refers to time.  In this he connected time to Shabbat and the Sabbath. Saying that we are not human doers but human beings. As such, we should find the time to rest especially on the Sabbath.  An interesting thing to contemplate. How do we spend our Sabbath?  How do we make it Holy?

First Meeting of the Children's Rosary in Russia!

Yesterday was the first meeting of the Children's Rosary at Nativity of Jesus Parish in Magadan, Russia.
We received a note from the Pastor which began:
"Praise to Jesus Christ now and forever. News of the Children's Rosary in Magadan begins." He went on to share that the new Children's Rosary group was Consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary at the beginning of the meeting.  The children wrote out intentions for the Rosary. These intentions along with the intention sheet we sent were placed before Our Lady. Flowers were also placed before Our Lady during the Rosary.

The new group will meet each Sunday in October and then monthly for the subsequent months. We welcome this new Children's Rosary group which is our first in Russia!

Special Release of Our New Video: A View from Heaven

We humbly release this video: A View from Heaven.

In the gospel today it said, "...ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." (Luke 11:9)  The children have been knocking.  This video is a fruit of many prayers. And yet it is an invitation for more prayer.  Our Lord and Our Lady are very generous with us. "What father among you would hand his son a snake when he asks for a fish?" (Luke 11:11)

So many these days speak of how crazy our world is becoming. Watch this video and one sees a different vantage point. A different way of looking at our world.  The lens to see this through is prayer.  When one looks at our world that way it looks very different. Indeed the world seems to get very small when so many are praying.

Hear the invitation of the children. Join us in prayer. We ask you to find a time each day and unify prayers. Click "join in prayer" on our website www.childrenrosary.org and say in your heart that you would like to unify prayers with all the members of the Children's Rosary.  As more and more add their light something beautiful happens.  A joy comes to the heart.  One feels they are not alone. Another soul is there praying and unifying.

Please consider joining the children in prayer. The children are asked to pray for those unifying prayers with them.  See a schedule of meetings on our website: www.childrensrosary.org or www.rosariodeninos.org or www.rosairedesenfants.org

New Children's Rosary to Meet in Russia this Weekend

We are very excited to share that a new Children's Rosary will be meeting for the first time this Sunday at Nativity of Jesus Parish in Magadan, Russia.

The new Children's Rosary group will be Consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary at the first meeting. In this way the group is under the protection and guidance of Christ and His Mother. The children will be praying in Russian.

Magadan is a port town in Eastern Siberia. The climate is subarctic. Winter begins in October and the winters are very long with 6 months of the year at subzero temperatures. The major industry of the town is ship building and fishing. This town was the prison camp city of Stalin chosen for its remote location and harsh climate.

On May 18th 2017 two hundred handmade Rosaries and twenty-five Children's Rosary books were sent to this parish. The materials were carried by hand to Russia with the hope that a Children's Rosary group could begin in Russia.  By Divine Providence the person carrying the materials was able to visit Fatima with the materials on her way to Russia.  She was able to Consecrate the trip to Our Blessed Mother.

Six months later on October 15th children in Russia will kneel as a prayer group to pray the Rosary.  We are very grateful for such a precious gift as this.

Please consider joining the children in prayer. The children are asked to pray for those unifying prayers with them.  See a schedule of meetings on our website: www.childrensrosary.org or www.rosariodeninos.org

Did You See the Moon This Week?

Wow the moon seemed so close and big this week.  One of my children took this picture on Wednesday night in our backyard.

On Friday morning the moon remained in the sky even after the sun was coming up. My daughter and I kept trying to catch glimpses of it between the trees as we walked to morning Mass. Each time I looked at it I was overcome with the beauty of the moon and its closeness to us.

Several years ago a retired pilot called about the Children's Rosary.  He began to talk to me about the moon and Our Lady.  He had many interesting insights but one that has always remained with me is how the moon is able to provide so much light and yet none of it comes from itself. It is simply a reflection of the sun.  It seemed in a very similar way Our Lady does this so perfectly. She acts as a polished mirror of God.  She reflects light but the light does not come from herself.

Thinking of Our Lady and the moon today, I thought of our light.  What light we can bring?  How well polished are we?  As we are now moving into our 7th day of the 9 day fast what has become of us? One of the things that has remained in my prayer this week during the fast is the hope that we can create the light of prayer in our world. That we may through our small way create lights of prayer that can illuminate the darkness.  Through this light we act as an invitation to others to pray and add their light.  On this Feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary can we give Her a gift? Can we take time and add our light that others may come and see it and want to unify prayers?

The Children's Rosary is looking for individuals or families that can commit to 30 minutes each day. We ask that they go to www.childrensrosary.org and click "join in prayer". A gold light will begin flashing in the world on our View from Heaven map.  Others will be able to see this light.
The light will remain for 30 minutes.  We are asking for people to write to us with a time they would like to commit to prayer each day. In this way when other people from around the world come to the site they will see it alight with prayer. They will see a light and know a soul is out there praying. A soul reaching out through prayer and inviting them to join them.

Once we have individuals for each half our of the day who have contacted us and pledged to keep the light on we will release a very special video to the world.  A video that provides a glimpse into what Our Lord and Our Lady see when they look down on our world.  It is something we pray and hope that can touch many many hearts. But Our Lord needs us.  This invitation to other souls must be a living invitation...there must be a live soul behind it. Only when the light is going do people know that a person waits for them to join and in that moment something special can happen.  Someone who might not normally pray may say yes to prayer.  Wow that is something very special.

Excited?  Want to be part of this?  I hope so. Write to us with a time you can "join in prayer". This would be a half hour each day.
When you click "join in prayer" on our website we ask that you say internally, "Lord I would like to unify prayers with any members of the Children's Rosary praying". By hitting the button "join in prayer"  one joins those visible on the map plus by saying that little prayer they join those unifying that do not have access to a computer who are part of the Children's Rosary and are praying.

Please write to blythe.kaufman@gmail.com to provide the time you would like to "join in prayer" and add your light.

Thank you.

Flowers for St. Therese

This past Sunday on the Feast of St. Therese. Tran traveled to the Carmelite Monastery in Saigon, Vietnam.

On behalf of the members of the Children's Rosary Tran brought gifts. He brought a bouquet of fresh flowers to give to St. Therese on behalf of the Children's Rosary. Tran relates that he attended Mass at 7AM which was celebrated by Bishop Vi Hung Nguyen. After Mass the Bishop blessed the flowers. Tran was able to pray for all the members of the Children's Rosary at the monastery and in front of a first class relic of St. Therese.

The children from the orphanage also had gifts for the nuns which Tran carried with him. Tran was able to give the nuns a painting of St. Therese. This was in the big box. The smaller package had a picture of the Blessed Mother as a child.
A special thank you to Tran for his prayers for all the members of the Children's Rosary worldwide. We remain united in prayer.

Please consider joining the children in prayer. The children are asked to pray for those unifying prayers with them.  See a schedule of meetings on our website: www.childrensrosary.org or www.rosariodeninos.org

Mass Offered on October 1st 2017 For Seminarians

A Mass was offered today for all seminarians that they will grow in holiness and lead us all in love. Every month we have a Mass offered for this intention. As our seminarians will be the future shepherds and our children are the future flock, it seemed a beautiful way for the children to help.

We have been periodically featuring different seminarians on the first of the month by inviting them to share something of themselves - a beautiful sharing of faith and love of Our Lord. This month we will be featuring Duyet (Anthony) Nguyen.

Duyet Nguyen
"I was born and raised at Tay Nguyen Highland, a famous area in the south of Vietnam. I am currently living at Cathedral Seminary House of Formation in Douglaston, Queens, NY. I am studying English at St. John’s University (Queens, NY) and will be studying philosophy next year.

My desire for the priesthood started during my childhood at the age of nine when I would get up and go to Church to attend mass with my mother every morning. Each day I felt that I was growing in love for God. From the conversations with God through prayer and the guidance of my parents, siblings, and priests, I have since learned to hear from the depths of my heart that God is calling me to the priesthood; this has been my dream since I was a child.

So, I would like to spend my life responding to God’s love by becoming a witness for God.
I am fascinated by Mark 16:15, “Go into the entire world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Each of us is called to be a missionary, to share the Gospel of Jesus with
the world. Thus, I decided to leave my country to talk about the love of God, to share actively in the mission of Christ. I am just a simple man who was touched and transformed by the joy of God’s love. In my life, I was received many graces from God; I cannot keep this experience to myself. I would love to go out and share the faith with all peoples."

We hope that those of you reading this will keep Duyet Nguyen in your prayers.  If we want holy priests we need to pray for them. They are undertaking a difficult journey for Our Lord and souls. We thank them for their, "Yes".  On this Feast of St. Therese, we ask for her special intercession for Duyet Nguyen.
