Children's Rosary in Hamburg, Germany Led the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday 2024

We received some lovely pictures taken on Good Friday where members of the Children's Rosary led 65 people in the Stations of the Cross. 

Lenten Journey in Pakistan

Children's Rosary groups in Pakistan have been sharing some beautiful pictures from their journey through Lent. The children continue to meet to pray the Rosary but they also have been praying the Stations of the Cross.The pictures shown here are from the Children's Rosary group in Sago Bago in Pakistan. This week we hope to feature more pictures from some of the different groups that have shared with us a glimpse into their meetings.

It is beautiful to see the faith and reverence of the children during their prayers.

The Children Honor Our Lord's Passion

The Children's Rosary at the House for Street Children of Imus in the Philippines shared these pictures from the Lenten Season. Nanette explained that the children during the meeting first prayed the Rosary and then made the Way of the Cross. The picture above is of the children genuflecting at the 14th Station of the Cross.  It is beautiful to see how the children have spent time with Our Lord contemplating his Passion. We thank all those from Imus who helped organize such a beautiful time of prayer for the children.

Children's Rosary to Lead the Stations of the Cross Tomorrow

The Children's Rosary will be co-hosting the Stations of the Cross tomorrow evening at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Hartford, Connecticut USA.  The Stations will begin at 7PM ET.  Some of the children will be doing readings others helping to carry candles and the Cross.  Please consider joining us at the Church if you live close by or unify prayers with us.  We will pray in a special way for all the members of the Children's Rosary.  

As Our Blessed Mother is always leading us to her Son on the Cross, it seems a beautiful grace that the children were honored with such a gift as to lead the Stations at St. Thomas the Apostle.  

For those visiting our Parish there is a Lenten fish dinner that will be hosted by the Knights of Columbus at 6PM in the Parish Center. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Little Sacrifices with Love

This past Friday the Children's Rosary led the Stations of the Cross at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Hartford, Connecticut USA.  Seven children led those gathered.  We had two candle bearers, a boy carrying the cross and four other children reading at each station.  We were also graced with music by a member of the music ministry.

One family whose children helped with the Stations had grandparents visiting from France.  This lovely family is originally from Paris.  All three children speak both French and English. As we had a brief lull in the snow which seems to be almost continuous here in the Northeast there was a last minute hope that they might show their family Cape Cod before their departure.  Yet the family chose to forgo this little trip to stay home and help with leading the Stations.  A true sacrifice for the family.  Yet this was done with so much joy.  It was so beautiful to see their little daughter carrying a candle, their son the Cross and their older son reading.  As we moved from Station to station there was a beautiful reverence of the children.  As I looked to the side I noticed one women crying.  

As the evening came to a close, it was clear that many seemed in a special way touched that night.  I began to think of this little family who had sacrificed in such a beautiful way to help in honoring Our Lord's Passion.  How dear must such a gift be, given with love from a family to Our Lord.  This gift which allowed such pure little souls to come and carry His cross and hold vigil with a candle at the foot of the cross.  Indeed it was a special evening.



 

Stations of the Cross

The Children's Rosary at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Hartford, CT led the Stations of the Cross last Friday evening at our parish.  We also happened to be hosting the Stations for all the Parishes in our town.  Hundreds came and our Church was filled.  Despite the crowd, the children did not seem distracted and reverently took turns leading the reflections at each station.  The youngest reader was just 6 years old. Some of the children carried candles and another led the group with a large wooden cross.

The parents of  some of the children who belong to our group are professional singers and they graciously offered to sing and play the flute between stations.  The music was exceptional and we all felt so grateful to Our Lord for blessing the group with such talented people to sing with us.  Children's Rosary books were also given out to those who attended that evening.  So many folks from different parishes commented how wonderful it was to see children leading prayer.  Maybe one of the most memorable things for me was coming home and seeing my daughter and son go up to their bedroom and together continue to read the reflections for each station and sing the song we sang between the stations.  Children are such wonderfully spiritual beings.  They really do love prayer and Our Lord. I am so grateful to the many people who came to the Stations that night.  By there presence they gave witness to these small children of the importance of such a practice as praying at the foot of the cross and remembering Our Lord's Passion.

Children's Rosary to Lead Stations of the Cross

The Children's Rosary at St. Thomas Apostle Church will be leading the Stations of the Cross on Friday March first.  

Stations of the Cross are held each Friday in Lent at St. Thomas Apostle Church.  Each Friday is typically led by a different ministry from the Parish.  Members of the ministry take turns leading readings at each station and carrying candles and a cross.  Last year several members of the Children's Rosary assisted by carrying candles and holding the cross while other ministries lead the readings.  The children were so excited to help and showed remarkable reverence. 

This year we asked if the Children's Rosary might be able to lead one Friday on their own.  We were given permission and chose March 1st which is also First Friday.  A short time later we heard that our Parish would be hosting one town wide Stations of the Cross and the Friday assigned to our Parish was March first.  We are very grateful for such a blessing to be granted to the Children's Rosary.

Our Blessed Mother is always pointing us toward her Son so it seems fitting that after close to two years of holding our monthly Children's Rosary the children should be brought to the foot of the Cross by Our Lady.
