New Children's Rosary to Meet on Ascension Thursday

The first meeting of the Children's Rosary at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Maple Shade, New Jersey USA will be held tomorrow (May 5th) at 9AM ET.  This new group is being led by two wonderful women: Barbara and Clare.  There is someone else lending his help to this new Children's Rosary group: Quincy.

Quincy is Clare's guide dog.  Clare is blind and for a long time had a desire to work with children and the Rosary but had not yet found an opportunity.  Providentially, Barbara was praying for help in starting a Children's Rosary and heard about Clare.  The rest as they say is history. Tomorrow Barbara, Clare and Quincy will be present at the first Children's Rosary at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Maple Shade, New Jersey.  Barbara shared that everything is ready for tomorrow including white flowers that the children will place before Our Lady at the end of each decade. They will begin by Consecrating the new group to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary.  In this way the group is under the protection and guidance of Christ and His Mother. 

Clare will be bringing her guitar and plans to accompany the children in song at the end of the Children's Rosary.  Indeed it seems Our Lord had supplied for everything.

The banner which Quincy is wearing was hand embroidered by Barbara's sister. In this way Quincy can help, too.  Children love dogs and with his new embroidered banner, Quincy is hoping to get the word out and bring more children to the Children's Rosary.

Meet a New Member of the Children's Rosary: Awesome Dog!

May I introduce to you a new member of the Children's Rosary.  His name is Awesome Dog.  He is a service dog for his owner, Betty, who is blind.  

Betty began a Children's Rosary prayer group at Holy Cross Academy Elementary School in Massillon, Ohio USA this past fall.  She prayed very hard that Our Lord would send her someone to help her run the group.  Two wonderful sighted women stepped forward to help: Verla and Betty G.  Someone else came forward to help...Awesome Dog.  

Betty quickly realized that the children were immediately drawn to her black lab.  They crowded around him and were always asking questions about him.  The idea came that maybe Awesome Dog could help spread word about the Children's Rosary.  With the help of her Parish's Caring Stitchers, a Children's Rosary banner was made with the Children's Rosary logo.  Betty also attached a little miraculous medal to his harness, too.  Over the past two months we have been waiting for a picture of Awesome Dog with his banner.  This week a package came with two pictures.  One can't miss Awesome Dog in the picture as part of his harness seems to be reflecting light. In a beautiful way this little reflection is marking him out even though with his dark color he might have blended into the background.  

Indeed it seems that Our Lord and Our Lady can bring so many blessings and beauty out of every situation.  Recently, we have had another blind individual express interest in helping to begin a Children's Rosary in New Jersey.  She too would like to have a banner for her service dog.  So it would seem there are more people wanting to help...including dogs too!

On this beautiful Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, Awesome Dog, adorned with his Children's Rosary banner set to work helping to bring more children together for the Children's Rosary held today.

Scripture tells us, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness". (2 Corinthians 12:8) Indeed it seems Our Lord often chooses those that have been humbled to work through.  In this way His hand can be seen most clearly.  Our Lord also shows us the wonderful blessings that come through our weakness.  For when we realize we cannot do it alone then Our Lord strengthens us and gives us those that can help us in doing His work.  

Over the past months I have been receiving notes from a new Children's Rosary group leader from Ohio named Betty.  She is blind.  Betty felt drawn to begin a Children's Rosary after hearing about it on the EWTN show Sunday Night Prime.  The timing of her first inquiry was providential, as we were working with the Xavier Society for the Blind on a Braille transcription of the Children's Rosary book.  With all the needed materials provided to Betty in Braille she began to pray that Our Lord would send her a sighted person to help her.  Our Lord sent her two.  She began at Holy Cross Academy Elementary School in Massillon, Ohio.  They have held Children's Rosary meetings in October, November and December.  She hopes to soon have a Parish monthly group as well.  During this time, Betty realized that her service dog was a highlight for the children when she came.  As we were talking one day a wonderful inspiration came that maybe her guide dog could wear the Children's Rosary logo.  With my own joint disability sewing was not possible.  Betty also could not sew one without being able to see it.  However, with prayer and God's grace a wonderful answer came.  Women from her Churches "caring stitches"  offered to make a Children's Rosary banner for her dog that he could wear both to meetings and at the Church to help increase awareness of the Children's Rosary.  She also felt moved to put a little miraculous medal on his harness too.  Through blindness and the need for a guide dog, Our Lord was bringing beautiful blessings. 

Indeed it would seem that no disability or weakness is too great that Our Lord cannot use it for the good.  

The next Children's Rosary at Holy Cross Academy will be January 15th, 2016.

Children's Rosary Book Available in Braille

We are very excited to share that our Children's Rosary book in English is now available in Braille through the Xavier Society.   

The Xavier Society is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1900 in New York City USA. Its mission is simple: to make writings on religion and spirituality available to the blind. This is continued today. All materials available to the blind through the Xavier Society are free.  One only needs to register with them and both braille and audio materials can be sent throughout the United States and in some cases abroad.  

Our Children's Rosary book and Glorious Mysteries Cd which contains our theme song Rosary Children are now available through the Xavier Society and they have offered to make these available to both Domestic requests and those outside the United States as well.  

The timing of this braille transcription of our English Children's Rosary book is perfect as a request had just come two weeks ago from a blind women wanting to begin a Children's Rosary prayer group in her parish.  She was requesting Braille materials and so beautifully these are now available.

Looking back to our first meetings of the Children's Rosary many of the children who attended had disabilities and even as founder of the Children's Rosary, I myself have a disability involving my joints.  As the Pastor of my parish is fond of saying, every set back is a set up for the glory of God.  There has been an appreciation that Our Lord is calling all His children to Him.  In a special way, those with disabilities must have a tender place in His heart.  To have materials for blind children and those with disabilities that allow them to participate in the Children's Rosary is very important to us.  In this way we are celebrating this new Braille transcription as we hope it will be an invitation to more children especially those who may be blind to join the Children's Rosary.  

We also would like to humbly ask those who may be blind to prayerfully consider beginning a Children's Rosary prayer group in their parish.
