A Gift from Vietnam

One of the members of the Children's Rosary from Vietnam recently painted the Children's Rosary logo on a rock. He expressed his wish to send us the rock. We wanted to share the picture with all of you.  We are so grateful for the time and care that was taken to complete the painting.  If you would like to read the story behind this image of Our Lady shown on the rock the story can be read: HERE.

Have You Ever Been to Interior Alaska? The Children's Rosary in Fairbanks will Give You an Insider's View

Welcome to Interior Alaska. This is where the temperatures are so cold even the sun seems to play tricks on the eyes. Notice how the sun appears twice on the horizon.  This is called a Sun Dog.  There is another picture below which is a better example of this phenomenon which results when temperatures dip to their current level of -50 F. A fog can also be seen in the picture above. It is called an ice fog.  The skies can be clear at times but almost zero visibility on the ground.

Meet the Children's Rosary from Immaculate Conception Church in Fairbanks, Alaska. Their first meeting was December 4th 2015.

They brave the cold weather to meet on the First and Third Friday of every month at 11:30 AM local time (3:30 PM ET). They will be meeting today and they have a humble invitation:

Please Join Us in Prayer

They will be adding their light of prayer in the dark and cold expanse of interior Alaska.  The group can be seen as a blue flashing light on our new View from Heaven map when they are meeting today.  Pull the map just a bit to the right so you can see all of Alaska.  The schedule of meetings is present next to the map and provides all the meeting times of groups today in your local time zone.  Click the button "Join in prayer" on our website and you can add your light to the map and also be unified in prayer with the children in Alaska and others also joining together in prayer. The children have been asked to pray for those unifying prayers with them. So when you join them in prayer, they are praying for you! It is also very exciting for the children to see others around the world praying with them as they meet in their prayer group.

The photo to the right of Immaculate Conception Church was taken at 9:30 AM local time on December 19th: the shortest day of the year. Notice how little light they have during this time of year.  Sunrise was at 11:10 AM and sunset 2:30 PM. There is also several hours of twilight.

One of the group leaders shares:
"We only had about a foot of snow on the ground that had accumulated between October through early December and before the additional two feet we recently received. You might like the view of Mary with the snow on her shoulders. Although it is difficult to see, the stained glass window on the right shows an image depicting how the church was dragged by horses across a frozen river to its current location around 1919 (with the long cold winters and arctic temperatures at times, ice can be 40+ inches thick here by April)."

The little church looks so welcoming with the lights warmly glowing from inside. The children through their prayers are like a little light in the darkness as well.

The Children's Rosary group in Fairbanks would like to share some of the highlights of living so far north!  This past week one of the members sent us a picture from his driveway.  An incredible view of the Northern Lights.

The daytime temperature the past few days has been around -50 F.  Night time lows have dipped to -60 F.  The group has been sharing some interesting phenomena that occur at these low temperatures. We have been learning a lot.

At temperatures this low if one takes a cup with hot water and throws it into the air it can go straight into a cloud of snow before hitting the ground.  See a recent example of this from the National Weather Service in Fairbanks on January 18th HERE. My kids found this very cool.

Another Example of the Sun Dog phenomenon is pictured below. The sun is only really in the center of the picture.

If you want to brave these frigid temperatures the children share there are some exciting events coming up:
http://www.yukonquest.com/  1,000 mile dog sled race between here and Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada. Competition is 14 days away.
http://www.icealaska.com/en/ The International Ice Carving competition (they recently suffered a fire). Ice slides and ice playground is also open the month of March.
http://www.nenanaakiceclassic.com/ When will the Tanana River break-up in April or May? If the ice 45 to 50+ inches thick, it can be a while.

First Children's Rosary in Mexico!

We are excited to share that a new Children's Rosary has formed at Santo Tomas de Aquino elementary school in Ciudad Juárez Chihuahua, Mexico.   The new group met for the first time on January 10th 2017.  They meet each school day at 9AM ET.

We hope you will consider joining the children in prayer.  A schedule of their daily meeting is on our website www.childrensrosary.org and you can view their meeting time listed in your local time zone.  The children are asked to pray for those unifying prayers with them. So when you are unifying prayers with children, they are praying for you! You can also see the group meeting as a blue flashing light on our View from Heaven Map.  As this new group is located just to the south of El Paso, Texas USA the dot may look as if it is in the United States but as you zoom in closer on the map the resolution brings it just over southern border into Mexico. Click the "join in prayer" button and you can add a gold flashing light to the map.

The new group also asks for our prayers for peace in their city, state and country.

We welcome the new Children's Rosary of Santo Tomas de Aquino elementary school in Ciudad Juárez Chihuahua, Mexico.

Novena for Christian Unity January 18-26th 2017

Novena for Christian Unity through the Intercession of Bl. Maria Gabriella

God please hear our supplication through the intercession of Bl. Maria Gabriella for Christian unity. May each of us and the Children's Rosary be an instrument in Your hands to knit all that has been pulled apart into one tapestry of prayer, love and peace doing all according to Your holy Will.

Remembering the words from Scripture when Our Lord prayed, "May all be one; even as You Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me". (John 17:21) Amen.

Please say 3 Glory Be prayers each day for 9 days accompanied by the prayer above.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity begins on January 18th 2017. We therefore thought it timely to pray in a special way for Christian Unity in a Novena.  As Bl. Gabriella dedicated her life for the intention of Christian Unity it seemed particularly special to pray through her intercession.

A Rosary will be prayed each day of the novena before a first class relic of Bl. Gabriella for the intention above and for those individuals joining us in this novena.

Bl. Gabriella was born in 1914 and died at the age of 25 in 1939.  She was beatified on January 25th by Pope John Paul II.

St. Francis Shelter

On January 7th a Children's Rosary was held at St. Francis Shelter in Vietnam.  This is home to 80 children and 40 adults. Most of those living at the Shelter are severely disabled and cannot speak.  There are a few children who are not confined to their beds and are able to speak and even sing.

Tran (age 16) was able to bring a Statue of Our Lady of Fatima for the visit to St. Francis Shelter. The Children's Rosary began in a general meeting room with several kneeling before Our Lady.  Candles were lit.  A decade of the Rosary was prayed and then a rose was placed before Our Lady. In between decades Ave Maria was sung. Our Lady was then lifted  and in a most reverent way carried to the rooms where the children and adults live.

Our Lady was again set down and all those able to kneel took their place. Candles were placed before her and the Rosary continued.  Those confined to beds could pray from where they lay. At the end of the decade each person could place a rose before Our Lady and the statue of Our Lady was brought close enough to each in their beds that they could kiss her.

May I humbly share that through Tran's phone I was able to have a window into the meeting and hear the children praying, singing and also see them.  What I witnessed was incredibly moving.  As Our Lady was brought to some they tenderly kissed her, pausing in some cases to say a quiet prayer and simply be with their Heavenly Mother. I remember the man in the yellow shown in the picture to the left. He took some extra moments when it came to his turn and he kissed Our Lady.

As Tran passed from room to room each time praying a decade of the Rosary, we began to see more of the rooms were filled with younger and younger children. Several of the children who were healthy moved with Our Lady accompanying her and kneeling in prayer at each room.  One of the little girls in pink was a tremendous help. She was able to carry a little baby close to Our Lady as others knelt praying.

For the children that were small and mostly unresponsive, Our Lady was brought to them as well.  They could hear the praying and singing.  I was able to see several times when a head was touched in such a gentle way by another child and with such compassion and love.

These children and adults have a life of incredible suffering.  Yet they are shown great love. The person who runs this shelter calls himself the Servant of the Miserable.  He speaks of each person as his treasure.  Although they have little, the Director had one request of the Children's Rosary: please pray for us.  This was his request of us.

I include the sign for the shelter above.  One can see on the sign, a heart and within the heart is a wheelchair.  Our Lord's words come to mind, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me."(Matthew 25:40)

There are efforts now to begin a monthly Children's Rosary group at St. Francis Shelter. We humbly ask you to please keep this in your prayers. Thank you.

Please know that the children prayed for all the members of the Children's Rosary at the meeting on 1.7.017.

Mass Offered in Thanksgiving on January 13th 2017

Dear Friends,

A Mass will be offered in thanksgiving today through the priests of the Capuchin Missions.

For weeks now we have been working hard to keep up sharing all the good news that is coming.  We have been offering prays in thanksgiving but today we wanted to also present God and His Mother a Mass in thanksgiving.

We can never adequately thank God for all the gifts and graces He shares with us. Yet we hope He will accept our humble gifts given with love.  We also thank Our Blessed Mother for her love, help and intersession.

As children we never want to forget to say thank you.

Prayers for the Members of the Children's Rosary on the Feast of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys

Today we received a beautiful gift. Tran wrote to us from Vietnam that in honor of the Feast of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys he prayed "before a relic (First Class) of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys for all Children's Rosary members worldwide." A special thank you to Tran for remembering us all in prayer.

Quote of St. Marguerite of Bourgeoys:

"It seems to me that we are charcoal ready to be kindled and that Holy Communion is entirely suited to set us on fire. But when this charcoal is kindled on the surface, as soon as it is set aside, it is extinguished. On the contrary, that which is fired all the way to the centre is not extinguished, but consumed." (St. Marguerite of Bourgeoys)

Meet the New Children's Rosary at Bui Chu Orphanage

These are the lovely children of our new Children's Rosary group in Bui Chu Orphanage in Vietnam. They held their first meeting on Sunday January 8th: Epiphany Sunday. The meeting began by Consecrating the new Children's Rosary group to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary. On a day we celebrate gifts given to Our Lord it is indeed precious that this new Children's Rosary group was given to Him that day.  The children each placed a flower before Our Lady at the end of each decade of the Rosary. The young girl in pink is shown below carefully placing a flower before Our Lady.

At the end of the Rosary each child was given a little religious card with a picture of Jesus on it. These were ordination cards for a priest and he wanted to give them to the children.

At the beginning of the meeting each child was also given a Rosary which we recently sent in a gift box. Thank you to all who help us send rosaries to new Children's Rosary groups.

May I also extend a humble invitation. Please join the children of Bui Chu orphanage in prayer each day.  The children have been asked to pray for those unifying prayers with them. These children meet daily at 11AM local time in Vietnam. This is 11PM  ET in the United States.  This schedule of meetings is available on our new website. The meeting times are listed in your local time zone. You also can see a blue light flashing on our View From Heaven map when a group is meeting.  We invite you to join them in prayer and hit the button "join in prayer".  Then you will become a gold blinking light on the map as well.

Thank you all!

Epiphany Sunday in Kenya!

Yesterday we received these beautiful pictures from two Children's Rosary groups in Kenya. They held their Children's Rosary meetings yesterday on Epiphany Sunday. The group above is the Children's Rosary from Holy Family Church Entarara, Kenya.

The picture below is from the Children's Rosary at St. Charles Lwanga Parish in Rombo, Kenya. The group in Rombo had some new members who attended this weekend and they each were given Rosaries. In honor of the Feast of the Epiphany several books we had sent were given to this group. Two read aloud Children's Bible were given to the children. In addition two books that were graciously donated to the Children's Rosary were presented to the children.  One was called "Gifts from Our Father" and the other "Counting on Faith". A special thank you to the authors for donating these books.

Please consider joining the children in prayer.  The Children's Rosary in Entarara meets each Sunday at 3PM local time. The Children's Rosary in Rombo meets each Sunday at 2PM local time. You can see a schedule of upcoming meetings in your local time zone on our new Children's Rosary website.  You can also see the children meeting in prayer as a blue flashing light on our View from Heaven map.  By clicking "join in prayer" you can add your gold light to the map as well. Visit to the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament

In November the children and I made a trip to the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Alabama.  It was a beautiful day with Mass and a visit to the tomb of Mother Angelica where we prayed for all the members of the Children's Rosary. We also visited a Nativity scene that is kept up year round.  Kostin knelt down and prayed for the Children's Rosary and all the members.  Asher lit a candle.

Mother Angelica I understand had a devotion to the Child Jesus.  We also had an unexpected surprise. We were able to meet some of the cloistered sisters.  We met Sr. St. John and Sr. Regina.  We asked both of them to pray for the Children's Rosary and they kindly said they would.  The children found it wonderfully exciting to meet cloistered nuns as we had just finished reading a Story of a Soul, by St. Therese of Lisieux, who became a cloistered nun. Sr. Regina pictured below by herself said she has a devotion to St. Therese the Little Flower. Sr. Regina also shared that she was primarily in charge of caring for Mother Angelica when she was ill.

The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament also had a Holy Door for the Year of Mercy. We prayed for all the members of the Children's Rosary on the threshold of the door.  It was just days before the Door closed and we felt especially blessed to have the chance to pass through it in the final days.

12th Day of Christmas!

May I share a little Christmas story.  Several of the Children's Rosary groups in West Hartford, Connecticut USA heard that there was a Children's Rosary group meeting in a Church in Pakistan without walls or ceiling. The children were very cold during their meetings and most did not even have socks or shoes.
They hoped to receive something to keep them warm.  Their little Christmas wish was heard.  Two Children's Rosary groups came together to help them.  Hats, socks and gloves were sent along with a few sweaters.  Two of the three boxes arrived in time for Christmas.(Another one is still on its way...please say a prayer it gets there soon).

On Christmas eve pictures came of the children receiving the warm clothes. A few are included here.

The top picture is of one of the boys in the Children's Rosary group receiving socks.  The second picture is of a mother with her baby receiving a warm hat for her baby.

The story does not end there.  A few days after receiving these pictures more came.  Babu Chand shared that after receiving the gifts from the children in Connecticut he was impressed and felt moved to do what he could to help even more of those in need within the Children's Rosary in his area.

He was able to purchase shawls for a number of the mothers in the Children's Rosary groups that have been widowed. He went door to door to give the gifts. Some of the pictures below show them receiving the beautiful shawls.

A special thank you to all the children and members of the Children's Rosary who have been so generous.  These acts of love send a ripple into the world.  It is a ripple of kindness that once started is hard to stop as is seen here.
