This Sunday May 13th is the Feast Of Our Lady of Fatima. Ninety-five years ago on May 13th in a mountain village of Fatima in Portugal Our Lady appeared to three children: Lucy, Francisco and Jacinta. Our Blessed Mother appeared to them as they were pasturing their parent’s sheep. Our Lady appeared over a tree and wore a white dress and a mantle over her head and shoulders edged in gold. Lucy later would way, “She was a Lady more brilliant than the sun.”
Our Lady of Fatima revealed to Jacinta before her death:
“Tell everybody that God gives graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Tell them to ask graces from her, and that the Heart of Jesus wishes to be venerated together with the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Ask them to plead for peace from the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for the Lord has confided the peace of the world to her.”
Be Apart of our Gift to Our Lady of Fatima
On Sunday May 13th the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima falls on Mothers Day. The Children’s Rosary will be meeting on Sunday morning from 9:45 AM-10:15AM EST to kneel and pray the Holy Rosary.
The children have something special planned for Mary this month. The month of May is also dedicated to Mary. The children have planned to plant a rose bush outside the chapel of our Church. There is a small rose garden there and last fall one of the rose bushes died. The Knights of Columbus have traditionally taken care of this rose garden but they gave permission to the children to plant a rose for Our Lady. The children have been saying many rosaries in anticipation of this feast day. They are asking Jesus to give a gift to His mother. With each petal that forms on each blossom of the rose we pray that 1,000 families will begin family prayer. Mary told Jacinta, the Lord has confided the peace of the world to me. Therefore the rose we have chosen to plant is the peace rose.
Peace Rose |
May we humbly ask anyone who is reading this to say a prayer that Jesus will grant that 1000 families will begin family prayer for every petal that forms on our peace rose as a act of love for His mother on her feast day. Please also pray that this rose bush blooms continuously so that renewal of family prayer will spread across the globe. If you are reading this after the feast day of May 13th 2012 please still say a prayer. A priest from the Shrine of Divine Mercy once lectured that prayers said after an event even the death of a person still have an effect on the outcome of things that have happened before the prayers were said. God is all knowing and has knowledge of all the prayers that will be said for an intention. When He decides whether to grant our request He will know the sum of all the people who will ever offer up a prayer or sacrifice for this intention. Please let your prayers be among those said. Thank you all for joining with us to bring family prayer into our homes and to give a special gift to Our Heavenly Mother.
