"Why are you afraid?"

The Gospel today has that beautiful story of the Apostles with Jesus on the boat during a storm.  The Apostles become frightened as Jesus sleeps on the boat.  They wake Jesus and He says: "Why are you afraid, O men of little faith?" Then He rose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.( Matthew 8:26)

What is particularly comforting about this story is that despite being buffeted about on the ship by strong winds we are assured that Our Lord is caring for us.  Prayer is a beautiful way for us to feel that security of Our Father's protection.  This security is particularly important for little ones growing and seeing many things that might scare them...things they might not understand.  However, children understand the love of a Father and a Mother.  In prayer they experience that love in a beautiful way from their Heavenly Mother and Father.

Please consider joining the Children in prayer.  The children always pray for those unifying prayers with them.
