On June 5 we arrived in Dublin. The monks in Silverstream Priory hosted us for our first night in Ireland. They graciously invited us to their liturgies, and Asher was able to join them for a communal dinner. Ruth Byrne, shown above in front of Silverstream Priory, met us on the morning of Friday, June 6. She was the first person to initiate a Children's Rosary in Ireland in 2018. We met at the World Meeting of Families in Dublin seven years ago. She graciously offered to take a day off from work and drive Asher and me to Knock Shrine. This was a 3 hour drive. We had a lovely time together, which included a wonderful lunch at the Shrine in Knock and a Children's Rosary. She then drove back to Dublin only to return the following day with her son for the All Ireland Rosary Rally. We also were hosted by Catherine for our nights at Knock. We experienced the fullness of Irish hospitality.
The Children's Rosary® is a prayer group movement that was begun out of love for Our Lady and Her Son. Jesus tells us "Truly, I say to you unless you turn and become like children you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven" (Matthew 18:3). The Children's Rosary is an effort to begin in parishes rosary prayer groups composed of children and led by children. Through prayer of the Rosary Our Lady will guide our young people while at the same time sanctify families and Parishes.
