Prayers for the Members of the Children's Rosary at Fatima

Dear Friends,

We are excited to share some of our visit to Fatima on July 22, 2024. Please know that in a special I prayed for the Children's Rosary and all the members as well as those who help the Children's Rosary. The time we were at Fatima was centered on prayer. We were not part of a tour group. It was only Seth, Asher, and myself. We were able to attend Mass at the Chapel of Apparitions. For all three of us it was our first time in Fatima, so we did not know our way around. After Mass Asher and I went to Confession and prayed at the tombs of Jacinta, Lucia, and Francisco. We also found Adoration in one of the chapels and spent time in prayer.

We learned yet even more about the lives of the children of Fatima at the museum called Casa das Candeias. It is a museum dedicated to the lives of saints Francisco and Jacinta Marto with personal belongings and artwork.

The children's homes are not far from the Sanctuary, and we went to each of the children's homes as well as the childhood home of Lucia. A picture from Jacinta's bedroom is shown below. The simplicity of the homes was something my heart clung to. Through the Children's Rosary and being in the spiritual school of Our Lady, simplicity has become a treasured experience. The world in many ways is always trying to complicate things and make life cluttered. To see a life rooted in simplicity is an important signpost guiding the journey we are on too.

We concluded our visit to Fatima at the second apparition site of the Angel to the children. This was at a well behind Lucia's childhood home. The space is under the canopy of trees and in the shade protected from the heat of the day; there was a lovely peace.

Your Friend in Christ,

Blythe

Members of the Children's Rosary in Vietnam prepare for the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima

Members of the Children's Rosary in Vietnam are preparing for the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. These pictures were just sent of the many fresh flowers which are being placed around Our Lady. They will be visiting the Children's Rosary at St. Francis Shelter tomorrow: Sunday May 13th 2018. Our Lady of Fatima will be carried room to room as they pray the Rosary. Many of the children are disabled and confined to their beds so Our Lady will be brought to them.

We hope to share pictures when they become available from this upcoming visit to St. Francis Shelter.

Flowers for Our Lady of Fatima

Yesterday we received this picture from the Principal of St. Francis Xavier School in Birmingham, Alabama USA. They hold a weekly Children's Rosary on Fridays afternoons at their school. The picture above was taken at their Children's Rosary on October 13th 2017. All the children from the school met outside to pray before a large outdoor statue of Our Lady of Fatima. The principal shared:

"The entire school went out, and each grade assigned a student for each decade to give the flower. So, we had 50 beautiful roses around the Blessed Mother".

We are so grateful for the prayers and flowers the children gave to Our Blessed Mother.

A Procession for Our Lady

On September 13th 2017 the Children's Rosary at Bac Hoa Orphanage in Vietnam planned something special for Our Lady. Tran relates:

"On September 13, we went to pray at Bac Hoa Orphanage. All of us pray from 7-9PM. That day we prayed the rosary, sang the hymn, and there was a procession of statues of Mary around the monastery. The children and sisters holding candles. They sang Ave Maria together. We have just gone to pray the rosary. The children and sisters feel very happy to be attending."
This orphanage is run by religious Sisters. Their first Children's Rosary meeting at the orphanage was September 4th 2016.
They have met as a Children's Rosary for one year each night at 7PM local time. If ever you wondered the fruits of such prayer look at these faces.
They come ready to pray...ready to sing in honor of their Heavenly Mother...they come ready to do something special out of love. They bring joy and even a seriousness in some cases for they know what they do is important. It is a gift to Our Lord and His Mother. One thing I have marveled at many times is the care that is put into each thing these children do in Vietnam. All the groups that meet in Vietnam are in orphanages. Thus one could say these children have very little. Yet they find a way to create beauty. They give Our Lady flowers, they set up candles under the supervision of the nuns. They do drawings. They make flowers and lanterns out of paper. Their creativity is incredible. But at the heart of all this is love. It is unmistakable. Even the wooden platform Our Lady stands on was handmade by the young people that help with this group. Our Lady is lifted up and surrounded by fresh flowers. Yes, indeed the children prepared a procession fit for a Queen.

Children Reaching Out to Other Children

As tomorrow is July 13th it seemed timely to share these pictures from our Children's Rosary group at Malaybalay Parish Cathedral in the Philippines.  The pictures were taken on May 13 2017.

The groups leader shares:
"The children brought the Fatima icon to the Monobo tribe children evacuees and taught them how to pray the Rosary". Several other organizations contributed food to feed some 300 children and their parents.

After the feeding had taken place the Children's Rosary group leader shared, "the Manobo children put Mama Mary on the sidewalk, lighted candles and pray the Rosary. The Rosary prayer was led by the 3 Manobo older children"

It is special to see the children from the Children's Rosary at the Malaybalay Parish Cathedral reaching out to the Manobo children. Recently Pope Francis in a document entitled the Missionary Pastoral Care with Children invites children to have an active role in evangelization. He writes, "This missionary service is carried out through the protagonist role of the children themselves. Jesus himself is the one who has given them a very important mission in the Church and the World."

Please keep these children in your prayers.  They hope to be able to form a Children's Rosary at San Fernando Parish as soon as peace is attained in their area and they are able to return home.

The Children Want You to Go on a Trip with Them

Members of the Children's Rosary in Vietnam have been working very hard. They share in the picture above a very special project that has taken the children two full days of labor. They made this special platform to carry a statue of Our Lady of Fatima. Careful inspection reveals handles from drawers used in a very clever way to help stabilize the Statue of Our Lady. Painting was also needed to finish the project. The children plan to use this platform to bring Our Lady on a pilgrimage they are going on this weekend.

Tran (age 16) shared their plans:
On Saturday June 3rd and Sunday June 4th we and 7 children representing Children's Rosary will go on pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Bai Dau. This is a shrine located close to Vung Tau Beach. We will pray and rest there. At noon we follow the Way of the Cross. In the afternoon we attend the Mass. In the evening we will take Our Lady of Fatima procession around the shrine and pray the Rosary. Next morning we will climb Tao Phung Mountain. There is a huge statue of Jesus on it. We will visit the grave of the martyrs. A lot of work. I hope you will travel with us.
This is also the Feast of the Holy Spirit.

This is a beautiful invitation from the children. They have put in so much work to make this extra special for Our Blessed Mother. The time in Vietnam is approximately 12 hours ahead of Eastern Time (time in Boston USA). Please consider unifying prayers with the children on this special trip. Click "join in prayer" on our new website(www.childrensrosary.org) so your gold flashing light can illuminate the dark sky. The Children in Vietnam Unify Prayers with Those in Fatima Today!

Today some of the members of the Children's Rosary in Vietnam came together. They created an incredible space in honor of Our Lady, surrounding her with flowers. They projected all that was happening in Fatima onto the wall. They watched, prayed and sang with all the pilgrims.
They held candles too, raising them as the pilgrims did in song in honor of Our Blessed Mother. I marveled to see these children spending a Saturday evening in Vietnam together in prayer.  Nothing had been spared to honor Our Blessed Mother. Pictures of the two children, Jacinta and Francisco, placed before them with candles burning.
The children called me and through video I was able to sing and pray with them. I felt honored to spend this time praying with the children as they met in Vietnam...all the while together watching the images and listening to the songs playing from Fatima.

Mass Offered Today for the Members of the Children's Rosary

Children's Rosary at Our Lady of Fatima Parish
Hartford, CT
One of the Children's Rosary group leaders who runs a Children's Rosary in a parish named after Our Lady of Fatima has given a wonderful gift to the Children's Rosary.  On the 13th of every month she has a Mass said for members of the Children's Rosary.

Ninety seven years ago today Our Lady appeared to the three little children in Fatima, Portugal.  She asked the children, as she had done on her preceding visits, to pray the Rosary daily.  Another one of the requests of Our Lady of Fatima was monthly confession on the first Saturday.

Our Lady promised the children that on the 13th of October she would show them a sign.  She was true to her promise and the children along with approximately 75,000 saw a magnificent site with the sun "dancing" in the sky.

Our Lady of Fatima

Ninety-seven years ago on May 13th in a mountain village of Fatima, Portugal Our Lady appeared to three children: Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta. Our Blessed Mother appeared to them as they were pasturing their parent’s sheep.  Our Lady appeared over a tree and wore a white dress and a mantle over her head and shoulders edged in gold. Lucia later would way, “She was a Lady more brilliant than the sun.”

On May 13th Our Lady would ask these three simple little children for their help.

"Are you willing to offer yourselves to God and bear all the sufferings He wills to send you, as an act of reparation for the sins by which He is offended, and of supplication for the conversion of sinners".
The children responded, "Yes we are willing."
In addition to her requests for suffering as an act of reparation she also asked for daily prayer of the Rosary.  This would be a request she repeated at all of her apparitions in Fatima.

Our Lady's choice of who to appear to and make her requests speaks so powerfully of the importance of our children and how much they have to give to Our Lord.  It also speaks beautifully to the importance of the Rosary and also the prayers of the Rosary by little children.  Not only are they capable of such prayers, Our Lady is requesting this of them.

Today we are blessed to have three Children's Rosary groups meeting:
Children's Rosary at St. Augustine Church in Iba Estate, Lago Nigeria 1PM ET
Children's Rosary at Holy Redeemer Parish in Menominee, Michigan 5PM CT
Children's Rosary at St. Paul Church in Fenton, Missouri 7PM CT

Please consider joining the Children in prayer.  The Children always pray for those unifying prayers with them.

A Mass has been offered today for all members of the Children's Rosary as a gift from our group leader at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Hartford, Connecticut.  A special thank you to her for such a beautiful gift.

Another special grace today, one of the members of the Children's Rosary was able to travel to Fatima, Portugal today and has in a special way prayed for all the members of the Children's Rosary and also placed our petitions beside the Statue of Our Lady of Fatima.

Totus Tuus

"Totally Yours"
Pope John Paul II with a statue of Our Lady of Fatima,
a few weeks after the attempt on his life on May 13, 1981.
Totus Tuus was Pope John Paul's apostolic motto and is a Latin phrase meaning "totally yours" signifying his person consecration to Mary the Mother of God.  Pope John Paul II as a young seminarian read many times the work of St. Louis de Montfort: True Devotion to Mary.  It was within this book that he found the words Totus Tuus.  The complete prayer translated into English, "I belong entirely to you, and all that I have is yours.  I take you for my all. O Mary, give me your heart".

Today on the Feast of Bl. John Paul II there were several times when Pope John Paul's sentiments came to mind. As the sun was setting tonight there was a ring of the door bell.  Quickly there was the sound of small feet running.  There was an unexpected guest at the front door but given the Feast her arrival seemed perfectly timed.

As I slowly came down the stairs there was a large box being carried in by my daughter.  Surprised by such a large box I wondered if it was really for us.  The children gathered around in excitement at what could be inside.  Upon opening the box the children found it was Our Lady of Fatima.  Among the stuffing a crown which they carefully placed on her head.  The statue was one of three sent to the Children's Rosary as a gift from a Catholic Store owner who had seen the recent Children's Rosary EWTN show and felt called to donate statues of Our Lady.

It had been four months since the children had packaged a statue of Our Lady and carried her to the post office for a new Children's Rosary group in Timor Leste.

On this Feast of Bl John Paul II who signed all his letters Totus Tuus ...it was a wonderful grace to find Our Lady unexpectedly at our door.  Pope John Paul has been a wonderful intercessor for the Children's Rosary and this beautiful gift arriving on his feast was just another example of Pope John Paul's tireless efforts to bring young people to Our Heavenly Mother and with her to her Son, Jesus.

A Message From Fr. Apostoli to the Children's Rosary Groups

Fr. Andrew Apostoli, the Vice Postulator for the Cause  for Canonization of Archbishop Fulton Sheen, has been a wonderful supporter of the Children's Rosary from our first meeting at the Little Audrey Santo Eucharistic and Pro-life Conference last spring.  At the conference members of many different Children's Rosary groups came together to lead a Children's Rosary in front of the Blessed Sacrament.  It was a wonderful grace and blessing for the children.  While at the Conference Fr. Apostoli gave us a copy of his new Book Fatima for Today.  Inside the cover he wrote a Message to all the Children's Rosary Groups:

"To the Children's Rosary Groups-
Our Lady of Fatima told us to Pray Her Rosary every day!  May you always do as Our Lady asked, and may She lead you ever closer to Jesus!"
Fr. Andrew Apostoli CRF

Fr. Apostoli has continued his efforts to help spread the Children's Rosary by hosting an interview about the Children's Rosary on his EWTN Show Sunday Night Prime. In the interview Fr. Apostoli echoed the importance of our little children since after all Our Lady of Fatima, who could have appeared to anyone, chose three little children ages 7, 9 and 10 to convery the importance of the Rosary.

Persevere Our Lady is Here to Help Us

May I share with you a happy story that I hope you will enjoy.

During the spring a lovely older women called me who happened to see the article about the Children's Rosary in the Catholic Transcript and wanted to help bring it to her parish.  Her Church interestingly is called St. Thomas the Apostle just like the Church where the first Children's Rosary began.  Her parish is located in Oxford, CT a relatively rural town.  She was a sweet older women who had a strong devotion to Our Lady and the Rosary and also a love of children.  She had been a teacher for many years.  Her voice quivered as she spoke and suggested that she might even have great grandchildren.  She was extremely positive and I immediately sent her out several books to help her get started.  However when she called me several weeks later she was a bit discouraged.  Things hadn't progressed.  She kept asking for prayers for her to find a voice and to know who to ask as this was very difficult for her.  This is when I added her name to the intention list which I send out to all the group leaders to place before the children.  Some of you may recognize her name Nancy Lee Modorno.  A few weeks later I called her to let her know the children had been praying for her and she seemed even more discouraged and sad.  She did say she was so grateful for the prayers as she lives alone and knew of no other person in the world praying for her.
Statue of St. Thomas in Oxford

Many months went by and I remember saying to my husband that if anything happens with that Parish it will truly be through prayer and the Hand of God.  Just before leaving for the CMN conference almost two weeks ago there seemed to be a string of discouraging news.  Several group leaders mentioned that their summer meetings had been small or that only the host family was there.  Another group was suffering problems in their parish.  I remember the day there was a moment when I began to doubt.  It actually surprised me how easily the doubt snuck in.  It lasted not that long but I was aware of it.  Then the email came....it was a posting left on the blog.  It began:

Hello, Ms. Kaufman:
Nancy Modorno of St. Thomas the Apostle in Oxford talked me yesterday about your book and movement. I am the new director of faith formation here. Have you found a printer yet for your books? Our December session focuses on Mary and Christ's birth and I'd love to incorporate this somehow if the resources are available. Also, how much are the booklets? Thanks you! Angela Arpino

Nancy Lee had found her voice.  By my own admission I had said that only through prayer and the Hand of God would this happen.  Our Lady knew that in an instant I would know what this meant.  It was the sign from Our Lord to say do not give up..have faith.. all will be okay... He is in control.  I think this was meant to give hope to not just myself but all of you. Recently I heard a quote from Mother Theresa.  A reporter asked her while she was alive if she thought she was successful.  She replied God did not call me to be successful but He called me to be faithful.  As I think of the groups who go every month and no other children show up I am reminded of Our Blessed Mother who stood by her Son on the Cross.  When we try to bring souls especially children to Our Lord and Our Lady but no one comes we must not lose hope instead unify that feeling to those feeling of Our Lord on the Cross when he was calling souls and so few came to be with Him.  In July no children other than my own came to the Rosary we held at our parish.  I felt the discouragement and know what that feels like.  I am writing to say it is okay to feel this but know that many graces and blessing are being poured down on you even if you are standing alone before our Lord trying to bring Him souls.

When I spoke to Nancy Lee today she had a different spirit.. it was hopeful.  She felt the power of the prayers and she felt that Angela was a prayer answered.  This new faith formation director had just been brought in and was very receptive to the Children's Rosary.  What Nancy Lee did say was that starting tomorrow she was going to start saying a special Rosary every day at the Church and hoped to say it in the special grotto to Our Lady of Fatima that exists on the Church property built by mothers many decades ago. She thought by her presence she might helped to bring an increased awareness of the rosary back to the Church and might even meet some more people who might help get the group going with the help of the new faith formation director.  Nancy Lee told me that the day she finally decided to go to the rectory to ask again about the Children's Rosary she felt a renewed spirit of courage and hope.  She had 19 extra heads of lettuce she grew in her garden and washed them all carefully and decided to bring them to the rectory.  Upon presenting the gifts she found the new director there.  It was through hard work, perseverance, and the power of prayer that she found her voice and a receptive ear.  Nancy Lee gave me permission to share this story with you.

Thank you all for all your prayers as this story is the fruit of your prayers and those of the children.  Some of you have not encountered problems with children not coming to the meetings.  We thank the Lord for each child that comes and joins us in prayer.  For those of you who struggle with attendance please do not lose hope.  The Children's Rosary means to cover you in prayers and your family.  May we bring a great many souls to Our Lord especially those of children.  For as it was said in the Gospel this week "so it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish" (Matthew 18:14) We are here to help Our Lady and Our Lord so that no one especially our children are lost.  Your efforts have not gone unnoticed in heaven.

Thank you all,

Your Friend in Christ

Pope Francis to Consecrate the Whole World to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Important news posted by the official website of the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, in Fatima, Portugal:

In response to the desire of Holy Father Francis, the Statue of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima, venerated in the Little Chapel of Apparitions, will be brought to Rome on October 12/13 to be present at the Marian Day promoted by the Pontifical Council for the
Promotion of the New Evangelization. On October 13, next to the Statue of Our Lady, Pope Francis will make the consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Marian Day is one of the great pontifical events marked down on the calendar of celebrations of the Year of Faith which will bring to Rome hundreds of movements and institutions connoted with Marian devotion.

In a letter addressed to Bishop Antonio Marto, of Leiria-Fatima, the President of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization, Cardinal Rino Fisichella, informs that “all ecclesial entities of Marian spirituality” are invited to take part in this Marian day, a gathering which includes, on the 12th, a pilgrimage to the tomb of Apostle St. Peter and other moments of prayer and meditation and, on the 13th, a Mass presided over by Pope Francis, in St. Peter’s Square.

In that letter, Cardinal Fisichella wrote: “The Holy Father strongly desires that the Marian Day may have present, as a special sign, one of the most significant Marian icons for Christians throughout the world and, for that reason, we thought of the beloved original Statue of Our Lady of Fatima”.

Therefore, the Statue of Our Lady will depart from the Shrine of Fatima on the morning of October 12 and return on the afternoon of October 13. Scheduled to take its place in the Little Chapel of Apparitions is the first Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima, which is enthroned in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary since December 8, 2003.

Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary

On this Grace filled day, consider giving your heart to Our Lady and pleading to God for peace through her Immaculate Heart!!

Our Lady of Fatima revealed to Bl. Jacinta before her death:
“Tell everybody that God gives graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Tell them to ask graces from her, and that the Heart of Jesus wishes to be venerated together with the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  Ask them to plead for peace from the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for the Lord has confided the peace of the world to her.”

Rosary
Today we have the wonderful blessing of having a new Children's Rosary meeting for the first time at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Hartford, CT.  It would seem to be another example of Divine Providence that a new group would form in a Parish named after Our Lady of Fatima and choose this special day to consecrate their group to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Please consider joining the children in prayer at 4PM ET for the Rosary either at the Church or from your home.  The children always pray for all those unifying their prayers with them.  If you would like to also consecrate yourself to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and Sacred Heart of Jesus, prayers of consecration can be found here.

Masses
A Mass was also requested to be said yesterday and today for the intention: may the Children's Rosary be a reflection of Our Lady and her Son in this world.  An additional Mass was requested to be said today for the intentions of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

May the Immaculate Heart of Mary bless you all and protect you. Amen.
