Children's Rosary 7 Year Anniversary Celebration

Today we celebrated the Children's Rosary Anniversary. The Children's Rosary has been meeting monthly uninterrupted for 7 years at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in West Hartford, Connecticut USA. This is the home of the Children's Rosary. From the beginning, we have met on the second Sunday of the month. This year the second Sunday of the month fell on Divine Mercy celebration.

In keeping with our tradition the children met at 9:45 AM in our lower chapel. This week we had a wonderful surprise. The missionary image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was in the region and we were asked if we would like to have Our Lady at the Children's Rosary. We were thrilled to accept such a beautiful offer.

This morning we had many children attend who have been involved with the Children's Rosary from the early years.

One women in attendance shared that she felt her heart fill with love as she entered the chapel for the Children's Rosary. We felt great joy today. We carried all the members of the Children's Rosary with us in prayer. We also prayed for all of those unifying in prayer with us. We began the meeting with a Re-Consecration of the Children's Rosary to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary. We continue to put this individual group as well as the Children's Rosary prayer group movement as a whole under the protection and guidance of Christ and His Mother.

A handmade card was also made for Our Lady which we placed before the children praying. Within the card listed the Masses we have requested both for the fulfillment of Our Lady's plans for the Children's Rosary and also the Masses in thanksgiving.

At the conclusion of the prayers the children sang our theme song "Rosary Children". One of the individuals who brought the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe had brought a first class relic of St. Therese the Little Flower to the meeting. This was another sweet surprise for the children. We also have a first class relic of St. Faustina that is kept in the Chapel. Both relics were made available for veneration at the end of the Rosary (veneration of the relics shown below).

Following the Children's Rosary, there was Mass and then a special Bruch to celebrate the anniversary. During the brunch, there was an opportunity to learn how to make a Rosary. We are grateful for all those whole helped today. Some brought food and some helped in teaching others how to make Rosaries.
Everyone had their fill and yet there was more left over. The extra was packed up and brought to Immaculate Conception Shelter where more people could enjoy the abundance. God is good all the time.

One of the little things we did to make the day special was to have a Cupcake Rosary. The children had helped to make the cupcakes. Asher decided with each cupcake he frosted he would say a Hail Mary for Our Lady's Intentions.

He was very particular that the prayers be started only once he began frosting the cupcake. Alina and I followed his lead and accompanied his prayers. Each cupcake had a Hail Mary said. Each time he picked up a new cupcake we also chose a different saint and asked that saint to pray for us. This took the project of frosting the cupcakes and infused it with prayer. Excitement grew as we waited to see who each person would choose to ask for their prayers. There was only one saint mentioned per cupcake. We took turns so there was some patience needed as one would think of a perfect saint to mention but we had to wait our turn to say the saint. The saints have become friends and so it comes to mind often to ask for their help. Our Lady in her school of the Rosary has opened the children's hearts to the saints and learning about them and asking for their help. Today as people took their cupcakes we shared how each cupcake represented prayers that had been said. This made it extra special. To the little children that came to take the cupcakes we also asked them if they would say a Hail Mary for Our Lady before they ate the cupcake. Some stopped in the line of food and said the prayer even before finding a seat. Indeed prayers were woven throughout the day. But this was not burdensome. There was a joy mingled with everything.

One last thing to share. In anticipation of the anniversary we painted a platter with the Children's Rosary logo. This was hand painted and then fired in a kiln. It was a gift to Our Lady.

We thank all those who help with the Children's Rosary in so many different ways. The Children's Rosary represents a tapestry of people and children from around the world. When we give anything to Our Lady it comes from all of us.

On this Feast of Divine Mercy may God shower graces and blessings on all the members of the Children's Rosary and your dear families.

God Bless You!
