Join Us This Lent

We are nearly half way through Lent. Yet there is still time to enrich our preparation for Easter. Looking back to the Gospel on the first Sunday in Lent we are reminded how "the Spirit drove Jesus out into the desert, and He remained in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan."(Mark 1:12) Lent indeed is a time of purification. To do this we are tested. There are certain things that can help us such as prayer and fasting. Our family has found great assistance through novenas. These provide a wonderful spiritual protection through the minefield of spiritual assaults that can be thrown at us. We have sought the help of the saints to help us on the journey to holiness. Last Lent the children and I each chose saints that had not prior been prayed to in a Children's Rosary novena. Over 800 saints have been prayed to in our 9 day novena by many individuals and children and yet there are many many more Saints, Blesseds, Venerables yet to be asked to help us. By praying this novena not only were we personally assisted by their help but all the members of the Children's Rosary were assisted. Through each other we can be of great assistance in reaching the end we seek which is holiness and union with the will of God. Our time here on earth is short and we will have all eternity to take joy looking back at how we helped our Lord and Our Lady. One of the parts of the novena that has always resonated in a special way with me is our request to be the extended hands of Jesus and Mary. What parent would not want to grant such a request. Rather if your children asked for such a thing would you not give them more grace than what they asked just because of their desire to help?

So I humbly ask you to prayerfully consider saying a novena to a Saint, Blessed, Venerable or Servant of God for the intention below. Please let us know when you complete it by emailing us at blythe@childrensrosary.org. The saint will be added to the list. Last year the children and I chose saints from South America to pray to and it was particularly special to see the spread of the Children's Rosary into countries in South America this year. These saints hear our prayers and really do help us! There have been many new saints canonized this year by Pope Francis. This may be a treasure of new individuals to ask for their intercession. If you have a hard time finding a saint that has not been prayed to yet let us know and we can try to help you. Here is the List of saints that have had novenas prayed to them.

Please say the intention below daily for 9 days along with an Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be each day. Also at the beginning of the novena ask the saint to become a member of the Children's Rosary and pray with us and for us.

MAY THE CHILDREN’S ROSARY, THEIR FAMILIES, THOSE ASSOCIATED WITH THE CHILDREN’S ROSARY INCLUDING OUR PRIESTS, OUR BISHOP AND OUR HOLY FATHER THE POPE BE THE EXTENDED HANDS OF OUR BLESSED MOTHER AND HER SON.  MAY WE GATHER A GREAT MANY SOULS ESPECIALLY YOUNG PEOPLE FOR THE LORD.  MAY WE EXPERIENCE RENEWAL OF FAMILY PRAYER AND SPREAD IT ACROSS THE GLOBE. IN A SPECIAL WAY WE ASK EACH SAINT TO CHOOSE AN INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY OR A PRIEST, ASSOCIATED WITH OUR CHILDREN’S ROSARY GROUP TO LEAD IN THEIR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY. DEAR SAINT PRAY FOR OUR EXTENDED GROUP THAT WE MAY EMBODY THE VIRTUES YOU EXEMPLIFIED HERE ON EARTH.

To become a member of the Children’s Rosary one only has to tell the Lord in their heart of their desire to be a part of our group.  You will then be included in all the novenas being said and all of the rosaries being prayed daily.
