Yesterday St. Nicholas made an unexpected visit from Heaven to a Children's Rosary Group that was meeting at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Waterbury, Connecticut USA. The day was extra special as it was also their second anniversary. The children held a Children's Rosary before the altar in the Basilica and then came downstairs to enjoy a celebration with a cupcake Rosary. The children then settled in to enjoy some craft time making a little nativity. All of a sudden there was word of a visitor from Heaven entering toward the back of the hall.
The children young and old ran over to see. St. Nicholas had come and was bearing gifts and gold coins.
St. Nicholas shared his story of becoming a Bishop and helping young girls without dowries with unexpected gold coins.
The children listened intently raising their hand to jump in and fill in bits of the story they knew. Then Saint Nick took a comfortable seat and the children came forward. There were many smiles and unexpected surprises. One of the children who had been reading two books about St. Therese the little flower pulled out of the bag a Rosary with a little image of St. Therese on one of the medals. Another little boy found a card about St. Padre Pio, one of his favorite Saints. After some excitement and celebration, the children all migrated over to several tables to make Christmas Cards. Some of the cards were for our Children's Rosary groups in Kenya. Time passed very quickly and soon it was getting late. The children reluctantly said good bye to their friends and gathered their goodies. Indeed it was a wonderful Feast of St. Nicholas!
